Hi whats the recommended time you should wait before colouring your hair after chemo, my hairs is coming back quite dark with a sprinkling of grey (usually mousey brown with a few blonde highlights) but I dont want to risk it falling out again I had my last chemo at the beginning of September and should be starting rads sometime soon, I dont use chemical laden dyes on my hair and have always used the henna blocks from lushwhich are plant based they made your hair thick shiney and in good condition (, my highlights are usually just to the end of my frindge so nothing near my roots or scalp as this is obviously bleach based) I can live without the highlights but would love my hair to feel soft thick ans glossy again . Any advise

I started colouring my hair with Level 1 (8 wash) temporary hair colour after 3 months from the end of chemo. I found it lasted quite well.
Photos of my hair regrowth and hair colouring experiments can be found here: http://iameclectica.blogspot.co.uk/p/chemo-hair-regrowth_16.html
I got to prefer it and a year and a half later, I'm still using temporary hair colour!
I have heard of threading but have also heard it is quite painful but may have to consider it.
I hope your chemo went well today for you. It seems an age now since I finished at the end of July. I started my radiotherapy yesterday which was delayed as I had a few problems after surgery. I used to find after each chemo that I wouldn't feel too bad straight after chemo because of the steroids but once they stopped I would feel un well for about a week and then gradually start feeling better.
Best wishes SML x
My hair is probably about 2 cm in places but still have a few bald patches which I am not very happy about. Really hope it is going to get better otherwise I can see myself continuing to wear my wig which I only wear if I go out. Have not been brave enough yet to try any colour on it but will keep the Holland and Barrats you suggested in mind when I do. My eyebrows and eye lashes are growing back but horror of horrors some facial hair as well which I dont know what to do about. xx
I had my last chemo on the 1st August followed by radio throughout sept. I finally plucked up the courage to colour my hair yesterday, I used holland and barratts, natural with no parabens and it feels great. I only have approx 2cm of growth but it was growing in grey and im only 38 !!!.........I am however just so glad to have any hair, I chose a mahogany red colour and think im going to stick with it.
Go for it and let us know how you get on.....ps eye lashes also long enough for mascara hooray !!!!! Xx
Hi. I am 3 months post chemo and my hair has only just started to come through again. It is coming back with quite a bit of white in so I am considering colouring it but not sure what to use or how long to wait before I do. My hairdresser suggested lowlights but not sure what they use to do this so if anyone has had this treatment I would be interested to know. My daughter says it feels very fluffy and like baby hair at the moment so wondering if this will change as it grows.
Still havent plucked up yhe courage to try colouring yer, has anyone on here used to lush henna on new hair with good or bad results ?
Thanks in advance
I think that since one month has passed and you would use Henna colours, it is safe already. Hope you get well soon and your hair back!
Thanks for the info, unfortunately I dont have a hair dresser that I am confident enough to confide in and I am not at all ready yet to go out without my wig or be seen by anyone other than my hubby without it on although it appears to be growing back well I'm just not quite "there" yet.
