Re: feeling over whelmed

Hi herbidacious. So sorry you're feeling low but as everyone says, it will get better. I was diagnosed in Feb, had mx in March, chemo and radiotherapy after that, which finished two weeks ago.You will feel all sorts of different emotions, it really is a rollercoaster, but my advice is to let it all out, don't bottle it up. When people ask how you are, tell them honestly as it's no good pretending for other people, besides people can usually tell when you're low. Having to cope with family life is something I found kept me sane, just doing the ordinary things like cooking etc helped push it from my mind for a while, gave me something and someone else to focus on. Mind you, don't run yourself into the ground and take all the help that's offered. But don't think it will always be bleak because it won't. You will have good days during your treatment and you will laugh and have fun and enjoy things, which might be hard for you to believe I know, but you will. You will find strength inside yourself to get through this. There is a light at the end of the tunnel - and it's not a speeding train, but the blazing torch of courage that we all are holding high - I promise! Good luck and be kind to yourself. Kayxx

Re: feeling over whelmed

Sorry girls just re read my postings. It is not the wine and gin just no spell check on the iPad because I hate them plus I lost my glasses for a week( found them in the freezer again- I put them on top of my head until needed and then dig deeply to the bottom of freezer etc and spend weeks blind as a bat until I need food.)
Herbidatious - it is a long haul but you will like us stick in your toes and cope if only outwardly.
You have Daisie , emma and applestreet to stalk around with and we beginners are happy to steer you from boggy mired wood paths leading to Gremlins. We had good teachers. One step at a time. Taking all the help you can find. Ring the Helpline. Follow the Forums and get the information you need from good sights. Eg BCC, Macmillan,CRUK, Marsden ,Christies , etc etc. Avoid some alternative sites , complimentary is ok but lots of people make big money from others diseases. Some herbal tablets should not be taken. Check with the Helpline if in doubt. They have a large black book with every known odd drug and can check things out for you.
If you have a private worry do an Ask the Nurse E-Mail or again ring the Helpline. Nothing will make anybody think" how daft" some of the nurses and help liners have had Breast Cancer. They are inspiring.best wishes to you all. See you roving in the Forums and perhaps at a moving on day later.

Gentle hugs today my chest is tight.xxx

Re: feeling over whelmed

Hi

Crying is the way your body lets off steam, it's good for you. I still feel overwhelmed some days, today being the mother of them all!!! I have been dx only a few weeks, am due SNB wed and Mx thurs. Haven't done anything else but cry for a week!! Periods of anger and grief for my boob and then tears then relief that the cancer will be gone, then fear of whatever treatment is coming after that. You are perfectly normal and anyway you handle it is the way for you. If you want a good cry then have one. One piece of advice I can give is keep logging onto this site. It's a great source of info and support. I couldn't manage without it. M

Re: feeling over whelmed

Hi Herbidicious

Sobbing and not know what your crying about your not alone I have been doing plenty of that lately possibly due to the run up of the mastectomy I think. I am relieved i'm not the only one who doesn't know exactly what I'm upset about lol. xxx

Re: feeling over whelmed

Cackles- please don't take offence. I loved your post, I'll have some of what you're having please. I'm one of those "hsppy prople woobling into the future".

Herbidicious and Daysie- have courage- you will surprise yourselves at just how much you will be able to get through. You are at the worst place at the moment and once treatment gets started it will be easier to cope with.

The BCC forums will provide you with wonderful support, but be warned, now you have started you won't be able to stop it's very addictive.

All the best x

Re: feeling over whelmed

Good morning- so sorry you have to join our forums because of breast cancer. It is such a scary rollercoaster ride but you will get off at the bottom and start woobling into the future. The worsed thing is the lack of control and the unknown and that is where BCC helps us so much. Forumd, helpline . Peer support. Informatiom and Friends that have been there.
Heavy stuff over. Surgery and chemo are very do-able. Brows the forums read them and go for the positive remembering there will be many more hsppy prople out there who don't post as they are getting on with life.
It is natural to cry and it can help. Don't bottle it in ,
It makes your friends and family know how scared you are and thet will try to help. All offers of help should be used if possible. It makes the person doing the ironing , childminding , baking etc feel wanted.
I so hoe all goes well for you

Re: feeling over whelmed

Good to know uncontrolled sobbing is acceptable, I was feeling such a wimp. I'm not even sure Wat I'm crying about most of the time x

Re: feeling over whelmed

Hi Herbidicious and Daysie

Just finding out is horrible - but it does get easier. Once you have a treatment plan and a definite path to follow the feeling of being out of control starts to subside.

At the moment, remember to keep breathing, and take one day at a time. Ranting, screaming, uncontrollable sobbing are all perfectly normal reactions.

I didn't find this site until I was well into my chemo - wish I'd found it earlier, the help, advice and support is fantastic. Remember, there is no such thing as a silly question.

Big hugs to both of you.
Dx

Re: feeling over whelmed

Hi herbidacious1

Firstly, welcome to the forums, I'm sorry to read of your recent diagnosis. The first few days and weeks are always difficult when coming to terms with things and getting to grips with your treatment plans, etc.

As well as the support you receive from the other users you may find it useful to order the BCC Resources Pack, it is specifically designed for those newly diagnosed and is filled with information to help you better understand your diagnosis, test results and the various treatments available. To order a pack just follow this link:-

http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/heal ... tionId/82/

Also, do give the helpline a ring if you need any further support or information. They're on 0808 800 6000. Open 9-5 Monday to Friday and 9-2 Saturday.

Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator

Re: feeling over whelmed

Hi, I was diagnosed in August last year. It is such a shock, and a huge adjustment. You will feel better once you start having the treatment, it gives you something to focus on. Give yourself time, what you're feeling is normal, and it will get easier. The breast care nurses are fabulous, there is a support available and they will point you in the right direction. This Forum is great and you'll make friends here. This is the worst time, but it will get better. Hang on in there. x

Re: feeling over whelmed

I remember that feeling. In fact came across a thread almost the same as yours yesterday. It was one day after dx. One day before my 40th birthday and i'd ran out of work crying. That was 8 months ago.
That feeling may not pass, but will feel much better soon and treatment can be a great help as you get on the right rd to better health. Good luck, drop in for a natter if you want to.

feeling over whelmed

Hi all, feeling very down and despondent. Diagnosed yesterday and feeling like I can't handle this at all. I don't feel I have the stamina to cope with this and family life as well.
