my check up went fine and the surgeon said everything i was experiencing was because of the radiation.
She put my mind at rest a bit
Many of the symptoms you have could be lymphodemea related - it can affect the whole area, not just the arm. I have experienced some of these, but mild, with no pain. I also got an infection at one point, that created the redness you talk of - which for me seemed to match the exact outline of my radiotherapy. I too had antibiotics for this. I am a 38E cup, and had a lumpectomy and a full ANC (in 2005) so expected the lymphatics to be screwed up a bit. Most of the symptoms have sorted themselves out given time, but its been a slow process. Hope your check-up went well.
Had idc in feb last year 3.4cm grade 2, stage 2.
Had lumpectomy, chemo, rads etc finished all that on xmas eve.
Went onto tamox in Oct.
Developed a pulmonary embolism in April and am now on warfarin.
Then had what the dic thought was a breast infection given antibiotics which cooled the redness but i felt it didnt go completeely altough my doc did so believed him.
That was about 31/2 weeks ago.
Since then i have an enlarged areola which goes really wrinkly when erect ,pain anything from stabbing to aching which ive had on and off for a few months. Armpit feels strange as does my neck. All this comes and goes except the areola which is funny all the time.
I am seeing breast clinic on weds about tamox and results of my follow up mammo.
Am worried cancer is back.
Anyone else in a similar situation.
