haematoma

Hi

I had a WLI four weeks ago.

everything was great for the first week then I got some pain in my breast.

on day 10 I could not move with the pain and realised I had an infection. Wound was fine.

I went to A&E and was admitted and operated on. Sent home with antibiotics and an open wound which I get dressed daily at the doctors. Went back to see BCN today and she cleaned wound and said it was a haematoma.   This will greatly delay my radiation.

Does anyone have any idea how long it could take to heal?

I am getting blue and this is only the first step.

Hi keeks

I had the same approx 4 weeks ago, at first I was getting it packed every second day but on the last visit my surgeon stated he wanted it packing with a gauze that was silver?? And to leave it a week. I am back tomorrow for it checking as it is holding back my chemo so understand your frustration.  I will let you know how long they expect it to be, it is trying to close but they do not want it too until it heals from the inside first.

Take care

Thanks for your reply Louise

its such a worry

I wake up every morning covered in blood.

Covered in rashes caused by the tape.

I have only been able to have a shower this week as now using waterproof dressings.

I cant see the wound as under my breast thankfully.

if I press my breast theres a gurgling sound and then stuff comes out.

If you have already had yours for four weeks then I have weeks still to go.

At least I now know its just going to take time
