Hi Vic55. You have my total sympathy and understanding. Was going to have a Picc line put in before chemo started but they were unable to get one in same as you. Having had chemo 6 years ago my veins were suspect but chemo sister said we would give them a go while waiting for a Hickman. Managed the first 2 but due to an adminiserative error request for it did not go. The sister said we would keep going until it was impossible because after 6 chemo my Herceptin could be given sub-cut. Managed all 6 then found out one of the other drugs still needed to be by infusion for the next year. Very, very annoyed but had Hickman fitted as it had to be done.
Can't say I like it but am getting more used to it. If yours is just for your 6 sessions it won't be too bad and giving blood etc is so much easier.

I'm sorry to read you're having a tough time with hickman line. May I suggest you give the BCC helpline a call on 0808 800 6000. Here you can talk through your furstrations and how you feel with a member of staff who will offer you a listening ear as well as emotional support and practical information. The number to call is 0808 800 6000 and lines are open Monay to Friday 9 to 5pm and Saturday 10 to 2pm.
