Re: holiday insurance

Hi
I was diagnosed with secondary cancer in Dec 2004 and have been on treatment of some kind ever since. I made up my mind to take as many holidays as I can. The only company that would insure me including breast cancer was All Clear .I paid £1200 for 2 weeks in Greece last year, but when they quoted £1400 for 4 days in Iceland I decided it wasn't worth it. I've been to China, New York. Canada and all over Europe without BC cover because the quotes were exhorbitant and I wouldn't go if I were feeling really bad and I always check with my onc first and take precautionary anti biotics just in case.
All Clear and the Post Office are the only ones who will insure me at all, even without BC cover. This includes companies who claim to specialise in cancer cover. It really made me angry because until very recently I had no symptoms whatsoever, and my doctors always said I was fit to travel.
Best wishes

Re: holiday insurance

i went to Oz with just the break you leg type insurance cause it would have cost £3000 to insure the cancer part..turns out if you pay that the consultants over there will not touch you and will omnly fly you home so i decided sod it if i get ill ill fly myself back be cheaper than £3000!

I always think if im not feeling well im not going full stop..if i feel ok i go.

Sorry suppose that didnt help just wanted to let you know i travel quite abit and dont really bother with cancer cover

Re: holiday insurance

Factsheet Hi Heather

Sorry to hear that you are struggling to find affordable travel insurance. I am sure our users will be able to offer advice on this subject, but I have also given a link here to a factsheet produced by Breast Cancer Care relating to travel insurance which you may find useful:

This can be either downloaded or ordered through this website.
