feeling crappy
breast seems better but having breathing probs again
had problems just b4 easter and a scan showed i had pulmonary embolism
On warfarin and a week stay in hosp.
This past week breathing has got really bad again
Doc sent me to hospital ran a few checks and sent me home
They said they no i have clots so no need to check them but if it gets so bad and i get bad chest pains to see my gp again.
Felt like i wasted everyones time and feel awful today.
Am seeing surgeon next weds so see what they think.

Hi Jackie,

Please ring your breast care nurse and ask to be seen urgently. I think you should have an ultrasound scan.
It may well be that you have a persistant infection but after 2 weeks of antibiotics you need to be seen in clinic.

Hi everyone me again
As you know i had a breast infection 2 weeks ago as my doctor thought. Took 2 lots of abs and they seemed to cool the breast but i still thought it look slightly swollen.
Have been off abs since mon and already my breast has become warm again and slightly swollen and niggly pain.
Should i ring my breast nurses or the doc perhaps the abs didnt quite clear it up.
Anyone else had a similar prob.

It seems i did have an infection antibiotics have helped it go down altough still niggling
Will keep an eye on it

seen doc again he seem to think it wasn't so red
seeing again tues
i feel it just looks different especially the areola area and still getting stabbing pains which are quite intense.
See how it looks tues and will ask my doc to refer me if i feel its no better

As Mel says you do need to complete the course of antibiotics.

Antibiotics normally take about three days to kick in, finish your course first as I know if you don't complete the course the infection comes back so give them time to kick into your system

Go again on Fri
Not much change so far after 2 days of pills

I have ibc and my breast was hot and my nipple started to go in. I am new to this site only signed up today but have been looking at the discussions for over a week. I would advise you to ask to be referred as you still seem worried. Better to put your mind at rest. I also had shooting pains in my breast but like everyone says everyone's different.

Ps question for mum 2 two how long ago was you diagnosed ?? I don't know anyone with ibc so would be nice to chat to you. Im still having treatment 3 years coming up how bout you??

My daughter has IBC and she too just suddenly noticed a lump which grew quickly but during the weeks she was waiting for chemo to start she did get redness and burning around the area. We didn't know at the time it was IBC or its implications. In fact we knew nothing about breast cancer or how many types there were. This was a year ago. She had no pain at all.

Hi Jackie,

My symptoms were a little more typicla than Mum2two.

No lump, rapid swelling and severe pain. Breast was quite red and hot to touch.
Again these are also all signs of infection so try the AB's, they won't do any harm while you are waiting for other results.

BTW, IBC does not show on mammos.
If no improvement after a course of AB's ask for an Ultrasound and a core biopsy.

Hi Jackie

I'm so sorry to read that this is worrying you, and you did the best thing with checking things out.

I have IBC, and to be ho9nest didn't have the "usual" signs & symptoms

I had no redness or swelling, and no pain & discomfort, but I did have (actually it's still there) a large very rapidly growing lump which went from the size of an almond to to 13cm in a matter of just four weeks.

IBC is a very nasty form of breast cancer, but thankfully far less common too.

Mabel what were your symptons how long did they take to develop?
Ive booked in with the doc tom just to get checked out.
Swelling is no worse but experiencing a lot of stabbing and aching pains.

Hi Jackie,

Are you unwell otherwise?

Lymphs could be swollen if you're fighting off an infection, especially if you had some removed during your surgery.

That said, I am an IBC girl so,

If you've had this for a couple of weeks you should get some AB's from your GP and take them for a week. If there's no improvement after that, and I sincerely hope there is, then you need to be seen in clinic.

What are the symptons of ibc.
I have a slightly swollen breast and lots of aching all around breast armpit and shoulder.
I finished all my treatment on xmas eve and my breast has been swollen for about 2 weeks.
Any advice would be welcome
