Re: lymphoedema - cellulitis queen

Hi Norberte, I've just had 3 consecutive bouts of cellulitus since end of Feb, just a few weeks in between each. What came to light, after seeing lymph specialist nurse at NHS clinic is that I hadnt been prescriped antibitiotics for long enough in the first 2 episodes. She gave me a print out by the BLS, British Lymphology Society, published in 2007 which advises that antibiotics should be given for a MINIMUM of 14 days.... so a 7 day course is just not long enough. Just now getting back to normal after a 5 day stint in hospital on IV and completing the whole 14 days with oral dose at home. I think my recurrence happened for 2 reasons: insufficient antibiotic treatment initially and lymphatic drainage massage straight after an incident can also provoke it back. So this time, longer treatment, no massage for a while and I'm taking protection dose daily for forseeable future, cos thats got to be better than getting ill. I have every sympathy with you and dont want to steal your crown, but maybe share it. I hope this info is helpful to anyone at risk of cellulitus..... Cheers. Janice x

Re: lymphoedema - cellulitis queen

Hi All,

Really not very clever today, back playing up big time and I have had to do the mercy dash to daughter in Uni as she has been referred to breast unit at Chelmsford. Appt on monday but she is stuck right in the middle of end of year exams and her research proposal for her dissertation. Eldest daughter also had car accident yesterday so my head and hers all over the place, thinking the worse. Not only is back playing up but recon boob even more swollen than usual and I have an almighty headache - can't quite work out why.
I have also try to add a couple of people as friends but again can't quite work out how to, any takers wishing to share their knowledge???
N, hope you are feeling slightly better now and lovely to hear from you. You must take extra special care especially as the gold medal winner!!! 🙂

Hugs to all,
Maggie

Dear Gang especially the gold medal winner!!
Just touching base with you all. Sorry to hear of your predicament N it is just so unfair but then you have won the medal, awarded for being the best. Haven't been around for a while but when time allows, I pop back on. Trying to get used to the new look forum and finding my way around. Really not brill with computers but getting there. Am going to post for some advice so would appreciate any ideas/ help that you can give.
Wish I could offer a solution for you N but nothing sensible comes to mind so I can only wish you well and loads of big positive, body healing hugs.
Take care one and all,
Maggie

Re: lymphoedema - cellulitis queen

Am not suprised you are swearing a lot ! That is total beep beep beepity beep, enter your own expletives. However I do think that if it was an Olympic event then be proud as you would be a Gold Medal winner, go Norberte,go Norberte whoo hoo ! Is there somebody in the country that is a true lymphoedema expert that can shed some light on this, is there any research being done into recurring celulitis? Much stamping of feet is needed to get this on the agenda for breast cancer after care. Not going to post too much as not sure if it is just going to all disappear into the ether when I press the enter button what with gremlins in the new site. All hail Queen Norberte ! Much love and sympathy . xxx
