Hello,
I had a mirena coil and my breast surgeon recommended I have it removed and a normal coil fitted, he said not enough was known about it and thought it better to err on the side of caution.

I wouldn't recommend having the coil. I had one fitted years ago due to heavy bleeding and was told to have it removed once dianosed with BC. I have since had my ovaries removed as still bleeding whilst on tamoxifen. Just my thoughts, but I dont like anything hormone related anymore. I believe (again just my thoughts) that all that messing about with my hormones (infertility treatment, mirena coil, pill) contributed to my BC. x
Hi there
I had a mirena coil in up to my diagnosis Sept last year and had to have removed, this was at the request of my oncologist.

Has anyone had a mirena coil fitted to protect the womb lining when on tamoxifen?I have been taking it for 3years and am 53.I have had heavy bleeding a year after the last bad bleed.I had an ultrasound and pipelle biopsy on Friday and need a hysteroscopy in 2weeks.the gynae doctor mentioned the option of fitting one but what I have read it says not with breast cancer.I am now confused over what to do!thanks didi
