Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

Thanks for this.  Sorry I had meant to reply at the time but forgot!  The information was very much appreciated.

I have now had my nipple reconstruction.  Done last Monday, so far it looks like the graft has taken.  I will get a good look next week when the dressing comes off.  I am really surprised at how little pain there is on the good donor nipple.  The dressing is off on that one and nobody would know, in fact as my nipple was so large before I prefer it!

I am looking forward to seeing the end result.

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

Hi tinytina2. I can't private message you as I keep getting a message saying you're not set up to receive them(?). Forum rules won't allow me to name my PS on an open forum. Let me know if you can sort out your setting.

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

so pleased you had such a good outcome with your nipple sharing.  I am looking into having an uplift on my good breast and nipple sharing but my PS doesn't offer this, would you mind telling me the name of your plastic surgeon please?

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

Had my nipple sharing surgery done in Septembe 2015, along with breast lift to my natural breast and lipofilling to improve shape and symmetry.  I had delayed DIEP reconstruction to left breast in September 2014.

I LOVE my new nipple!!!!  Luckily I had a big enough pointy out nipple to share.  The new nipple sits well and is lined up really well with the improved position on my natural breast.   They both still protrude well, and Im assured my new fake nipple (Fipple?) will not flatten as they do with the more common nipple reconstruction method.

I had to wait a while for this surgery and had a number of appointments with my Plastic surgeon, but it was well worth it.  I wanted to be absolutely sure that I was going to be be happy with the intended results and well; as the hair advert tells us, becuase I'm worth it.

I've not lost any sensation to my natural nipple, and the scar from my breast lift is already faded significantly, so I'm very pleased.

My teenage daughter says I've got the breasts of a young woman (I'm 40!), but I know what she means.  Breast feeding had taken it's toll on my natural breast....and offered me no protection against BC ironically. So having the breast lifted to better match my foob is a real confidence lifter.

I'm just waiting now for the tattooing to finish off the look, and well that's me done.  Been a long journey.  Back to Breast clinic in March for mamogram, so fingers crossed.

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

Hi, Did you end up having this done?  Please could you share your experience if you have?  I have had my LD Flap recon in March 2015 and just had my good side augmented to match 2 weeks ago.  Existing nipple is a little sensitive at the mo, but hopefully that will go down.  Having seen my surgeon yesterday, he has suggested that my existing nipple would be a great donor for the nipple reconstruction...it seems huge at the moment!

I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience...assuming you have had the recon done by now.  Many thanks

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

Hi,

I have been offered this option too but I am very reluctant to have yet another part of my body tampered with.

Has anyone here had the surgery and what does your healthy nipple feel like now it's been shared? Is it numb or sore.? Are you happy or not happy with the results?

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

Hi languagewhizz. ive sent you a private message. i recall you were at BRI and so think we may have had the same PS.

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

My PS has suggested exactly the same for me. I think we see the same surgeon. I remember chatting to you before. I had my DIEP in early October so we are at a very similar stage. I saw him a couple of weeks ago and when he looked at the size of my existing nipple he said that was definitely the best solution as there was plenty to share. After all the things I've been through, this nipple-sharing malarkey is probably the one that gives me the biggest heebie-jeebies - I don't know why! I feel very confident that he's going to have them looking good. How they feel is another matter but I'm very interested to hear other women's experiences of this procedure too.

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

It's where they cut your existing nipple in half and attach it to your recon. I was offered this but decided to decline as after my uplift on good boob I did get sensation back in nipple and could face having it chopped up again!

Re: nipple sharing reconstruction

I have never heard of this - what exactly does it mean. My surgeon made me a nipple from the skin and although it has now gone a bit flat it does make a big difference to the breast. KM x

nipple sharing reconstruction

I've had my follow up appointment with my PS.  I had my DIEP reconstruction in September.

I was surprised by his suggestion that a nipple sharing reconstruction would be the best option.  I'd never thought of it and most research I've done has only shown the one where they twist the tissue on the reconstructed breast.

Would any of you ladies know anything about it?

Have you had this type of recon and how successful was it?
