Thank you Martha I had to put the laptop on to write this I dont know what is up with my phone but it wont let me write the letter i or any word beginning with it, weird or what?
Well I count myself very lucky that I had all the tests done and the results within 3 hours. I have a lovely doctor and she says I can think things over and talk them over with her next week. The BCN said I was very informed and calm, I told her I knew from the moment I saw the indent and felt the lump that it was BC and that I was getting a lot of information on this site, she said this site was great.
I havent cried at all over this and I am feeling very positive at the moment, so here's hoping this positive attitude continues.
Love Maggie x
I'm a little late in joining in on your thread, but I just wanted to stop by and say I'm sorry to hear that your results have confirmed BC.
I know it is exceptionally hard, but please, please try not to worry - Once you have your date for the op it will get a little easier for you. After the op, you will find yourself back in the waiting room for around another 1-2 weeks waiting for the results again. After that, you will feel a tremendous sense of relief when you get your treatment plan.
I was in complete turmoil - I had WLE & SNB on 3rd May. I had an Invasive Grade 3 (no node involvement, clear margins, no lympho-vascular invasion). I am HER2- and ER+ (5/8). I was borderline for chemo but I decided to go for it. I have found this site a tremendous help through my dark moments and the ladies here are absolutely wornderful and there are a lot of inspirational stories.
Maggie - hope I didn't give the wrong impression. HRT doesn't CAUSE cancer, but cos it makes the cancer cells grow faster, you may be asked to stop taking it. I had to do that to be on the safe side, and honestly after a few months I felt OK.
Anyhow good luck with your results today, hope it's all clear. If not there is lots of support here, and you will get lots of info from your clinic.
Maggie, wishing you good luck for tomorrow, hope your appointment will put your mind at rest. But you may have to wait about one week for your results unless your hospital has the fast track system in place.
Maggie, once you know what you are dealing with, I experienced an immediate reaction of tears and feeling sorry for myself and then a calm descended for a while as I knew for sure what it was and focussed on the first stage of treatment.
It is a rocky road but be sure to take the support of your breast cancer nurse. They are wonderful and no questions or worries are too trivial for them.
Things tend to move along at a fast pace once you have a dianosis. The waiting is defo the worst.
Thank you Grumpy. my daughter is coming with me so she can take in what they are saying. Thank you for the reassurance about the HRT I dont want to come off it if I dont have to. Do you know if there is anyone else on here who had the same symptoms of me and have had their test done?
DON'T GOOGLE - there is a lot of inaccurate and utterly wrong information out there - just stick to this site and MacMillan.
HRT does NOT cause cancer - some precancerous cells are extra sensitive to oestrogen, which then makes them grow.
Indentation and pulling sensation - can't offer info on this, sorry.
When you go to the clinic, they will do more tests, mammogram/biopsy etc, and only after that will they be able to say a definate YES or NO. They will give you lots of info/literature if it is a YES, so you can read it all at home to take it in better.
One thing I always do, as I am on my own with this, is make notes during the appt, then ring the nurse if I need clarification. If someone can go with you to act a note taker, you will find that helpful I'm sure.
At the moment you are in the worst place - we call it the Waiting Room - but please remember the short wait will NOT allow the cancer to grow massively......
Take care of yourself, and love from
Girls I think I have googled every breast cancer site there is! I am trying to arm myself with as much information as I can. I think it must be breast cancer with the indentation and the lump and I have a pulling sensation inside. I am on hrt since I had my hysterectomy over 4 years ago and apparently this can cause cancer! I dont want to tell myself its benign and then fall apart when they tell me it isnt. I am a strong person its just the not knowing for sure, if it is cancer I know i will get on and deal with it, it's just this waiting. I have an apt with my gp in the morning and I am going to ask her for something to help me sleep. Just 8 more days till I know for sure!
Hi maggie I am also waiting for appt but having to wait almost 5weeks. Is this normal or should I be pushing to be seen sooner.
TRying to great on with life but always on mind. Haven't really talked to family friends as don't want them worrying too
We all know what that is like Maggie. As soon as you find something suspicious it is there in your mind all the time, and you feel that lump a dozen times a day so see if it really there, still there, got any bigger/smaller, maybe-I-imagined-it, oh-no-there-it-is!
There is no cure for this, except waiting for a diagnosis and hopefully good news, and although distraction helps, it is just something we have to go through. Just to know that you are not alone helps though, even though you'd not wish this on anybody!
Sorry to hear this Maggie. It is the waiting that is the worst. Try to distract yourself, each day down is one less to wait. Remember, you are now doing something about it and it may well not be what you think. Good luck.
