Re: scared

Wentfore what I thought was my biopsy today but only got a Scan. To go back on Wednesday for actual biopsy. !!! More waiting. Husband not allowed to come in either. Did get told that this showed on my scan last year but was put down as a cyst then. Obviously it has now grown and us not a cyst. He could only tell me the cells havechanged. Have to wait up to 7 days for results as wont find out on Wednesday. More waiting. Can a cyst changedinn to cancerous cells and. What if it wasn't a cyst at all and has been growingfair the past year!!! I am in a terrible state and still no answer all these weeks on. Sorryfor rant. Has anyone else had a cyst that turned cancerous x

Re: scared

Just popping in to add my Best Wishes also.
Had my biopsy done (husband waited outside) It wasn't painful, more 'uncomfortable' and totally bearable.

Let us know how you come on.

Re: scared

Hi mum of two just wanted to wish u all the best for your biopsy tomorrow, I had a double biopsy last week and it actually isn't as bad as I thought it would be. My husband came in with me and it was much better for me that he could. It doesn't hurt so don't be worried about that (and I'm a wimp when it comes to pain!) expect some bruising after but that's about it, in sure you will be fine.
Please let us know how you get on xxx

Hi mummy of two
Good luck on Monday, not got masses of wisdom to pass on but for me the waiting was truly horrendous, the worst bit actually and after being first diagnosed. Of course fingers crossed your lump will be nothing.
Just to add same as key features my partner was not allowed in with me for the biopsy. I think by that stage I didnt mind if he did or didnt I just wanted the damn thing done!

Re: scared

Yes your husband can go in, although at my hospital they won't let men into the waiting room once you are changed into gowns - believe this is because of some people's religious beliefs. I found it rather upsetting that their beliefs seemed more important than my wish to have my partner with me, and also rather stupid because all the men kept walking passed the open door and looking in to check up on their OHs. But they did let partners into the room where you have your individual ultrasound and biopsy.

Re: scared

Hi
It sure is a really scarey time.
I had a mamogram last Thursday, they found something and sent me straight for an ultrasound, they then did 2 biopsies. Within 2 hours, my life had been turned upside down.
The consultant told me my ducts are really swollen all the way back to the lymphnodes.
I am just waiting for the results, and found the best way to keep sane is to keep busy and positive.
This forum is so helpful, knowing there are so many women out there who know exactly how we feel.
So thank you ladies!!!!

Re: scared

Hello mum of two x - the waiting is really hard, and it is sad that yours is taking a while. The guidelines are two weeks if you get a cancer diagnosis - which obviously can't be done without the tests! I was lucky because my GP put 'cancer' on my form and faxed it straight to the hospital after feeling the lump and told me she had done so because it meant I would have to be seen in two weeks. If your GP put a diagnosis of probably benign but just needs checking, this explains the wait.

However, whilst the waiting is horrible, to put your mind at rest if it is cancer a couple of weeks here or there is unlikeyl to make a difference. Cancer takes a while to grow. In fact, as a rule, by the time you feel a lump it is likely to have been there for 1-5 years.
I really hope you get good news from your biopsy.

Re: scared

hi ladies, had my appointment today, consultant confirmed it was a 2cm by 2cm lump. he said he thinks it's a cyst but wanted me to go for mammogram just to get it checked. had mammogram to be told it is not a cyst but a solid lump will need a scan and biopsy done. the person who does that was fully booked and I will get a urgent appointment in post ...... so still in limbo and no further forward. it is the not knowing is the major stress. can anyone explain what is involved in a biopsy?

mummyto2. good luck on Thursday I will be thinking of you and sending you positive thoughts. I surprised myself today i was very calm at appointment as you say it is the waiting around x

Re: scared

Hi mum of two, I'm also in the waiting room.......I've gotto have a double biopsy on Wednesday, the wait like you say is horremdous, and ive been having the most horrendous thoughts over these last couple of weeks.
I don't really have any advice for you other than to just take each day as it comes, time has passed quite quickly for me if I'm honest, and by Thursday of this week I will know either way, a couple of weeks ago I was beside myself with worry/fear etc but don't feel quite as worked up as its getting nearer probably should be the other way round really!!) ie thought of nothing else.
I guess what I'm trying to say is what your feeling is completely normal and it's natural to worry until 'hopefully' it's proven that we don't need to any longer!!
Lots of hugs from one mummy to two to another xxxx

Re: scared

Best wishes to you both ladies, hope you both get an NED diagnosis (No Evidence of Disease).... but I must say I AM SHOCKED AT YOUR WAITING TIME.!!!
The Government guidelines call for all women with suspected breast disease to be seen at a breast clinic within two weeks!!! Is the Scottish health authority seperate for the rest of the UK?

scared

hi all, I have been on this site for a few weeks looking at all the great advice.

I have a history of breast cancer in my family ( dads mum and 6 sisters all have passed away from bc). I am 36 and attend breast clinic yearly for check ups. anyway about 4 months ago started having pain in my left should and lower back and just feel tired all the time. also noticed changes to breast. went to clinic they said everything was fine however discovered a large hard lump on breast bone near rib cage on left breast. phoned up and aftervwaiting 4 weeks have appointment tomorrow At 11.15 to see breast surgeon. I am just so scared my mind is racing away I have convinced myself I have bc and it has spread to my bones that is what is causing me pain in shoulder/back. I just have this feeling. I don't know if I am over reacting or my mind is preparing me for the worst.
