starting chemo July 2014

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Sorry wend sorry u are suffering a lot. Did the hospital find out what caused the pain? Are u still in hospital? My veins are swollen and bruised, and I am in bed all day din want anything thing brings me to the hospital cuz I feel scared about bloods taken and drips to my poor sore veins. Hope u recover soon xxx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi fiona I've found this one hard this time have had to go back to the hospital with burning pains in my hands arms legs and feet . Didn't have the energy to walk or do anything . I'm also exhausted all the time . I'm sorry if you are suffering too think maybe this fec is harder than we think xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Day 4 started to feel weak exhausted with shaking hands and feet

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Day3,I had really bad constipation. Taking meds and hope it works. It is nearly killing me.

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Kare - don't worry about feeling angry. It's such a roller coaster ride, all the worry before diagnosis, the tests, the waiting, the treatment, the side effects etc etc. your emotions are bound to be up and down. Hang in there - each day is different and just look at it as every day is nearer the end of treatment xxx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Glad you not so sore . I had pain in bladder and kept going to the loo for about 48 hours . Not felt too well today very tired and my joints are very sore hoping it will go soon xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi kare sometimes I do feel no one can understand how miserable the journey is and I wanted to shut people out but I know it is not right and I try to talk as much as I can but I am really careful to choose friends, I avoid those with negative thoughts and stay with those stronger than me. And this forum helps a lot u. Can find people to share same feeling and experience. Hope u keep positive. That's what we are doing And i know it is hard xxx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi wend u are right re sore veins. My vein soreness turns minimal today. Last noght around 10pm i felt exshausted Nd felt asleep quickly but had some pain on bladder and kidney. but when i woke up in the morning i felt normal again and up till now just bit light headed.x

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi kare was wondering how you were . I have had fec so can only comment on that but have been very down after my 2nd dose . I wanted to shut everyone else out at first but I've realised you need to let people in it is a hard journey and even more so on your own . Hope this helps xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi Wendy and Fiona

Don't forget to keep your painkillers up. Hope all your aches, pains and sore bits go away quickly. Mine all begin again on Friday with round 2 - bring it on!!!! Gentle hugs Ruby

Re: starting chemo July 2014

My hand was sore and it's bruised this time but that only lasted until the next day . Hope yours is the same xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi wend, I did have the joint pain last round, I know how awful it was, hope u get better soon, and I will keep updated. now I just feel bit light headed and sore vein, having hot bottle water on my hand to soothe the soreness.xxx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Glad it not too bad and you did not have too bad a time . Hope you don't feel too bad and have a good night .my hands , feet and joints are burning today hope that goes away soon xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi wend, just finished and home. It was not too bad, the cannula was in at the second attempt. And now I feel normal apart from some light headed. But the nurse still worries about my vein and they request some other forms of line to put in if possible.

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi fiona been thinking of you how did it go xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Poor you Fiona, i do so feel sorry for you. The treatment and SE's are bad enough without all your vein troubles too!! However, as Wendy says, the nurses have seen it all and will find a way I'm sure - thinking of you and sending you best of luck. Ruby xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

A bit rough but think it's the steroids more than the chemo thank god they finish tonight . I didn't want to continue with the chemo when I was having trouble with the veins but I know to stop now would be wrong .will be thinking of you tomorrow . Xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Thanks wend, how do u feel today?

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Oh fiona I'm so sorry it's awful when they can't find a vein . I know you will feel like giving up but stay focused you need the chemo . These nurses who do the chemo are used to this and I'm sure they will succeed with your vein . Stay strong hunny sending you a hug xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi ladies, how sad I wasn't able to have the picc line in as my vein was too small and the nurse couldn't find a good one. Dun know how the chemo nurse manage to find the vein tomorrow, really panicking about the soreness, I want to quit the chemo already..

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi angie yes I feel the same I do think cancer has always been in media but i think now we notice it all cause it's relevant to us ..a bit like when you buy a new car all you see are cars like yours on the road 😊 my hair went very itchy and sore I couldn't lie on the pillow I kept cutting my hair shorter and shorter until in the end my hubby just shaved it off . I do think the thought of being hairless is worse than the actual hair loss . I have a good wig to go out in and scarves and hats for home . X

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi ladies
I seem to have days when I feel depressed and despondent but I have high days too, the good days are when I just don't give my bc a thought and focus on anything else but. My bad days are dark and I cry at the slightest thing, has any one noticed that on bad days every other word in the media is 'cancer'...even the word makes me feel worse on down days. Hair is getting very dry and have some sore/itchy spots on my scalp, is this goodbye to my already severely shortened barnet? Well that's okay with me cos that means the chemo is getting stuck in and can take my bc away too! Think POSITIVE girls !!! Hugs n Xs

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi wend, my scalp is still very sore that sleep becomes very uncomfortable. And hair shedding more and more.

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi Wendy and Fiona - I still have very down days too (without being on steroids). I think it all just becomes too much sometimes and then you bounce back and just get on with it ❤️❤️

Re: starting chemo July 2014

I think it may be the steroid not usually down so.was a bit of a shock . How's the hair situation is your scalp still sore xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi wend, I had one day feeling depressed on my first round, I think it was the steroid?

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi all think I may ask about picc line if I have the same problem . Glad things not to bad for you ruby and you are able to work . I have been very depressed today not really sure why hope it goes . Hugs to all x
.

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi ruby sorry to hear your losing hair after using cold cap . I did wonder when mine came out at 14 days if I should have used cold cap now I realise it probably wouldn't have made much difference. ☺

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi everyone!
So, day 9/10...I have been trying to concentrate on work as a way of managing se ..Been massively tired sleeping 7 to 7. PICC ok but seem to be allergic to lots of dressings. Sickness mostly mornings fortunately. Bit of a temp and sore throat all yesterday and last night so on suggested diflam which has certainly helped with throat and temp back to normal. Hair a little ropey but hanging on in there! Hope you ladies are all coping hugs n X's to all!

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi wend yes I had problems finding my vein at my first round. Why don u request to have one? I was told the vein will be more and more difficult

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Yes but not sure they will next time if they drop lower .We will see . Are you having picc line because of veins not being good xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Wend sorry u had a rough time. But did they allow ur chemo to go ahead even though ur bloods were low? Mine is due on Tuesday and will have picc line in on monday

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi fiona not as good as first as I'm now having trouble with veins . My bloods were low and my platelet levels are low . Only just below the levels for having chemo. Felt sicky last night and a bit rougher than the first time but I'm just putting that down to the bloods .I've just got up to make a drink at 6 so I'm coping .when is your 2nd one x

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi wend, how was your second round?

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Yes I noticed she's been quiet xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Haven't seen Angie for a few days, wonder if she is copying ok?

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi, wend, I have very sore scalp too that I can't sleep on pillows. Ruby, pleased that your se is only losing hair, I think it is better that other tough ones, isn't it?

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi ruby sorry to hear your losing hair after using cold cap . I did wonder when mine came out at 14 days if I should have used cold cap now I realise it probably wouldn't have made much difference. ☺

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi all

Looks like I may not avoid losing my hair after all, even with the cold cap . At day 16 it's starting to shed with avengence 😥😥. No other SE's now though 😀😀. Xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi fiona my hair just thinned in 2 days was quite fine to begin with but had grade 5 then 3 and then tonight totally off couldn't stand the sore scalp . Thought I would be a wreck but no I just thought I would rather have no hair following chemo to keep cancer away than have cancer and a full head of hair it will grow back I'm sure .ps I love my wig xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

My hair shedding a lot, it makes the hair wash so difficult, but I haven't shaved yet, wear a cap all day to prevent hair everywhere, cuz my husband said it will be easier to shave when hair thinner.

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi fiona glad that sorted how's the hair situation . I have shaved mine off totally now couldn't stand the sore scalp and constant shedding .x

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi. Wend my picc appt is sorted. They will have me on Monday and my chemo is on Tuesday. Good luck with your 2nd round. Xxxxxx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Hi fiona sorry to hear you've missed your appointment I'm sure if you contact them they will fit you back in . My 2nd chemo tomorrow will keep you updated xx

Re: starting chemo July 2014

Feel so annoying atm, my picc appts supposed to be today, but dun know why I keep thinking it is on Friday and finally I have missed the appt and haven't had a line in. My chemo is due next Tuesday , I am so worried that the nurse can't find my vein and the chemo will be delayed.

Re: starting chemo July 2014

slyolddog,i had very bad sore throat on day 4-5, and I had lots lots lemon water on those days, and on day 6 it was completely gone. But not sure if the sore throat will get worse on my 2nd fec.x

Re: starting chemo July 2014

I shaved mine off and I felt that was the only thing I had left to be in control of. X
