hatty - your onc is right - be prepared to spend 24 hours in very close proximity to a bathroom.
Another thing, Liz, is that sometimes I have to wear rings on my little finger or not at all, remove my watch and so forth. It was bad enough having to do this during pregnancies, without it coming back now.

Im 5 weeks post tax and still like Michelin woman isnt it horrible, My onc tells me i will eventually pea it all out. I do hope so as diet doesnt touch it.
Liz are you on Tax? If so, I found it was dreadful for water retention. My face swelled up like a watermelon, and my hands were so bad I was on the verge of having my rings cut off. I gained about 6kg just of water, which then disappeared almost overnight when it was all over. I doubt there is anything you can do about it other than keep your feet elevated - I hope it goes quickly for you.

Hi, I've had odd days with swollen ankles in particular, but this has been a problem for me much of my life. My feeling is that about a week into a chemo cycle I am particularly susceptible, and then instead of going down after a night's sleep it takes at least another day. Chemo, or at least some forms, does seem to bring on water retention.
If you are up to gentle exercise, that may help, especially your wrists and ankles. Otherwise, try raising them, so you hold your hands over your head one at a time or together, perhaps resting them against something. For your legs and ankles, either lie with your lower legs propped on a big stack of cushions (and your arms up on the sofa or head of the bed?) or lie flat on your back with your legs propped up as high as you can get them on the wall. After a while you will feel a draining sensation. (When I was at school, we were shown that if you raised just one hand for a while, it would be paler than the other. At my age, I can also see that the veins in the back of my hand shrink a bit after a while.)
You might also find that it helps to wear support tights if you have to be on your feet for very long. In really hot weather, this is like walking around in a sweat bath, though. You could also try mopping or spraying your arms and legs with cool water while raising them.
If it's very bad and all else fails, then bring it up--perhaps they can give you something to help the water retention. You have my sympathies on this; it's really miserable.

Hi elizabethtracy
I live in Thailand at present and I have all the same symptoms as you.
The temp here is in 80s/90s everyday. it gets worse after chemo but comes down a bit 3rd week. I can actually at times feel my face swelling. My glasses get tight and when my face goes down they start to fall off. Watch is the same on my wrist. My belly blows up bigger than my boob. Dont know the last time i saw my ankles.
I put it down to a mixture of chemo and the heat and humidity. Coming back to uk next month and hoping for some cool days (sorry) to deflate a bit.
Hi everyone,
ok i know the weather has gone warmer, so that maybe has some bearing on why i look like the michellin man, ( or woman)
seriously my ankles, legs arms wrists and fingers are very swollen,
i feel ok and havent got a temperature,
has anyone else experienced this and if so any advise would be gratefully received,
waiting to deflate!!!!!
