Re: symptoms - sunken breast

Hi, In November I noticed my R breast had dimpling and also tethering on the side and was terribly itchy, it was also rather sunkin, and I then also found a lump in the same area. I am 59 years old and found it all very disturbing. I straight away went to our local Dr. And was referred to the Specialist and after a needle biopsy as well as core biopsies and mammograms the diagnoses was breast cancer. At first I was shocked and within a week I had my op and they found a lump they removed as well as 3 lymph nodes. MY cancer was estrogen related, even though I had a hysterectomy at the age of 32 due to cancer cells and 2 years later my ovaries was removed. Apparently the body still makes a small amount of estrogen even though you do not have any ovaries. Now I have had Radiation ect. And am full of blisters and burns from the radiation. I went through denial, then anger and then such emotional feelings. But I must say I have the most loving support from my husband and all our friends and family. Remember this is a journey u on and no one is the same. I hope a little insight into my journey is giving u some idea.   I wish u all the best and just remember there are people u could talk to anytime of the day or night. Regards Flowers 2014

Re: symptoms - sunken breast

Hi GS87,

I thought I'd respond as you don't seem to have had one, although I'm afraid I can't be much help...

Is this only on your right breast? I know that after I had my kids, my breasts became full of stretch marks etc. and would always sink in when I lay down, but that was just down to changes in breast size after babies and breast milk.

I'm sorry that I can't comment on your symptoms, but you have done the right thing in getting it checked out, and your doctor has been proactive in referring you quickly.

The waiting is always difficult, whether you're waiting for your initial appointment, or waiting for tests, or results etc. The only advice I can give you is to try and take your mind of it in the meantime. Try and fill your time as much as possible with things you enjoy, or things that keep your mind occupied. With two kids, I'm sure you are busy!

Don't get despondent, as most breast issues turn out to be harmless, and your ages is on your side. It would be very unlikely to be cancer at 26. I know you will worry until you get through the process and come out the other side, because we all do; that's human nature. Just try not to let it get on top of you. Keeping busy is the best way to keep your mind off it.

You haven't said what day your appointment is, but best of luck with it, and do please come back and let us know how you get on. Also, if ever you need support, or just a bit of a rant, this is a great place to come!

Take care for now, love Mel. xx

symptoms - sunken breast

Hi, I am very new to this, I am 26 and have 2 children. I recently noticed that when i lie down my right breast sinks in and my nipple becomes inverted, my skin around that area then appears wrinkly like - this only ever happens when I lie on my back. I went to the doctors and they have referred me to a breast clinic to get it checked out, I have my appointment this week. My breast is also quite tender when something pushes against me (i.e. children hugging me) and under my arm pit is sore, been getting shooting pains in my breast and my right arm since seeing the doctor too. I am really worried, has anyone else had symptoms like this? Thanks in advance, hope to hear from someone soon xx
