Able to Dive with Implant

Re: Able to Dive with Implant

Hello Smudgie31

Thanks for your post about diving after an LD flap reconstruction with an implant.

After fully recovering from an LD flap reconstruction, some women will notice weakness in the shoulder during everyday activities. This can be particularly noticeable if you are a swimmer or rock climber and you may notice that you have less strength on the operated side. Talking to the surgeon who performed the reconstruction would be important so that they can advise you about any risk to the reconstructed side before you try diving.

Do call our Helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.

The number is 0808 800 6000 (Text relay prefix 18001).

If you would like a nurse to call you do complete this form. Ticking the box agreeing to a call back.

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday. Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.

Please be aware that we will close at 12.30pm on Thursday 24 December and be open again from 9am on Monday 4 January 2021.

Best wishes

Able to Dive with Implant

Can l go diving if l've had latissimus dorsi surgery with an implant?

Only planning on an 8 meter dive in a UK aquarium but my GP requires some confirmation? Would possibly like to do sea diving in the future if allowed.

Thank you
