Thanks for your post about the information on the CRUK website.
People who are started on anastrozole may have blood tests before starting their treatment. However, we’re not aware that further blood tests are recommended during treatment unless an initial abnormality was found, or someone already has an existing medical condition.
You might want to contact CRUK directly to ask them to explain their information further. You could also discuss this with your treatment team.
Anastrozole may cause the level of cholesterol to rise, although this doesn’t usually need treatment. If you have a history of high cholesterol you may want to discuss this with your specialist or GP.
Do call our Helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. Your call will be confidential and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.
The number is 0808 800 6000 (Text relay prefix 18001).
Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday. Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.

Hi, I was put on anastrozole after chemo but before radiotherapy last Oct- only just started taking it tho.
I haven’t had a single solitary test of any type since the bloods before my last chemo, just the planning ct scan before radiotherapy (and that was the first scan I’d had too despite 3 lymph nodes with macromets)
i saw the oncologist at the end of chemo when he prescribed the anastrozole but no follow ups since and none mentioned.
i’d be very interested in what I should expect too!
I've been on Anastrazole for 3 years and have just read this on Cancer Research site 'You have blood tests before and during your treatment. They check your levels of blood cells and other substances in the blood. They also check how well your liver and kidneys are working' and since I haven't been having these tests, should I be? I've also heard that cholesterol levels should also be checked?
