Re: Currently on FEC chemotherapy, worried about immune system and covid-19

Hi Flower1

Thanks for posting. It’s understandable that you’re asking about boosting your immunity with GCSF injections.

It’s not possible to give clarity on your situation, as treatment is tailored to the individual. There are currently no national guidelines to say when the injections should be given.

However, you are included in the group of people at a higher risk of contracting coronavirus.

Do contact your treatment team again to discuss this further.

You’re very welcome to call our Helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. Your call will be confidential and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.

The number is 0808 800 6000 (Text relay prefix 18001).

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday. Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.

Best wishes

Currently on FEC chemotherapy, worried about immune system and covid-19

Hello, I had my 2nd dose of FEC chemotherapy yesterday and enquired about GCSF injections as I heard other trusts were giving 7 daily doses to supplement immunity as a response to the corona virus.

However, my trust has said it isn’t. Could you give me some clarity on the latest national and local guidelines as I appreciate this is a rapidly changing environment.
