It sounds as if you’re having a difficult time with the side effects from letrozole.
It’s not possible to make recommendations about different brands of the drug.
As you say, it’s not guaranteed that the products you buy online are genuine.
We’d always encourage you to discuss the side effects with your specialist team. They may be able to suggest alternative hormone medication or recommend ways to alleviate your side effects that you don’t have to pay for.
Hospital pharmacists are also good sources of information on different products. They sometimes have a patient helpline you can call for advice.
At Breast Cancer Now, we offer a variety of services to support you.
You’re also welcome to call our Helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. Your call will be confidential and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.
The number is 0808 800 6000 (Text relay prefix 18001).
Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday. Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.
I have been on letrozole for about 9 months... Another 5years to go. But side effects are getting too much. Reading that Femara has far less side effects I have been looking at the possibility of buying it privately. Found it on United pharmacies for £30 month and medex pharmacy at £120 month! Could afford the £30 but the price difference worries me! Does anyone have any ideas or experience on the subject of buying Femara? Would it be sensible and possible to test and confirm one has genuine article, or are these companies regulated? United Pharmacies didn't appear to require a prescription.
