post treatment pain

Re: post treatment pain

Hello Jojo1447

Thanks for posting.

Nearly everyone who has been treated for cancer worries about it coming back (recurrence) and you’re not alone in being anxious about this. The uncertainty and fear of breast cancer returning is very real. At first, every ache or pain may frighten you, but most people find the anxiety lessens as the time goes on.

From your post it sounds as if your radiotherapy completed in the last couple of months. Side effects from radiotherapy can linger or change in the tissue of the treated area recovers and repairs in the weeks and months that follow.

post treatment pain

I have seen a number of posts regarding post treatment pain, so not as worried as before logging onto site.

I was diagnosed with TNBC last Sept, went through 5 months of chemo before undergoing a lumpectomy 16/4/21, also took a lymph node for biopsy.

The initial biopsy of lymph node came back inconclusive so surgeon decided to go in and remove a couple more to check on 14/5/21.  I made a good recovery, numbness in the treated area but reading other posts this is normal.  I then had 3 weeks of Rads again no problems, until above 3 weeks after treatment when the itchy feelings appeared, which have now gone.

Past couple of weeks i have had a bruised like feeling/pain both under my arm/back area and the site of where the lump was, again not panicing after reading other posts but at what stage should i see a doctor if this does continue, i'm at the living in fear part of missing anything sinister going on lol
