Re: weight

Hello lollypoplyn

Thank you for your post.

It’s understandable that you want to know why you have lost 3 stone in a short space of time. It’s difficult to say what the exact cause of your weight loss might be due to. It is a good idea to contact your doctor, breast specialist doctor, or breast care nurse and let them know about your recent weight loss.

Once they have assessed you, they can find out the possible cause and what might help. They may want to refer you to a dietician to help build up your diet and help you gain some of the weight you have lost. As you have been told the treatment will not be able to cure the breast cancer, it sounds like you might benefit from additional emotional support. I wonder if you have spoken to your GP, breast cancer team at the hospital about what local or community support there is available. You may also want to discuss what support you can access when you see them.

It’s understandable that you feel worried at the moment. Do call our free, confidential Helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The number is 0808 800 6000.

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday. Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.  There are some changes to our opening hours due to the bank holidays, please refer to our website for more details.

Best wishes
