Breast bone pain

Re: Breast bone pain

Hi Jmoon44

Thanks for posting.

It’s understandable to worry about what may be causing the breast bone pain you are experiencing. Nearly everyone who has been treated for cancer worries about it coming back (recurrence) and you’re not alone in being anxious about this. The uncertainty and fear of breast cancer returning is very real.

It’s not possible for us to say what the pain you are experiencing is, however, we would always encourage you to get any new symptoms checked out with your treatment team or GP.

Do call our Helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.

The number is 0808 800 6000 (Text relay prefix 18001).

If you would like a nurse to call you do complete this form. Ticking the box agreeing to a call back.

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday. Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.

Best wishes

Breast bone pain

I wondered - can you suddenly experience breast bone pain 2ys after a mastectomy? 3 times now I have felt bruised in my breast bone for 2-3 days, it went round to my shoulder blade then disappeared.

I am worried that it is secondary breast cancer in my bones 😞

Thank you
