Diagnosed with grade 3 Breast Cancer

My oncotype results were back within 2 weeks, so not too long a wait, but doesn’t mean it’s not on your mind every day no matter how long the wait!…… I’m now waiting for oncologist appointment to discuss next phase of treatment, I know I’m finding it difficult to concentrate on anything else, feel like I’m in my own glass bubble looking out on people leading ‘normal’ lives!

My cancer was regraded from 1 to 2 this week, following surgery, which came as a nasty surprise. I was hoping to feel a sense of relief & a tiny bit happy that the surgery was successful but now all I can focus on is whether I will need chemo or not & that feels like a completely different playing field to where I thought I was with this cancer. A six week wait for you must have been excruciating. How did you get through it? I have been told the oncotype test result should be back in two weeks but I expect it will take longer to find out as they have to discuss it at the next MDT meeting.

I am due back at work next week but I don’t know if I will be able to concentrate properly or exist/ interact in a world where people aren’t thinking about cancer all the time.

Hi, mine was regraded from 1 to 3 after my lumpectomy. The shock was horrendous as all through they’d been saying grade 1 . They talked about chemo and said they’d send it off for oncotype testing . After a horrendous 6 week wait my score came in at 18 so no chemo needed after all . I’m waiting for radiotherapy to start now , had the tattoos yesterday. So please try not to worry too much and stay off google . I made that mistake and it really didn’t help . Have you had a treatment plan yet ? Xx

The shock of getting diagnosed can leave you reeling, but day by day and step by step you will find your way that suits you and you do what’s right for you each step of the way. It can be such a blur initially, and appointments start happening so fast it’s like you have been sucked up into a vortex and looking down at yourself pre diagnosis.
