Hi all, im back today after being told it is back after 12 years. Lump 2cm in lumpectomy scar, i first found a small lump last Easter, and had mammo in October clear, and 2 biopsies over the last few months. A few weeks ago it became larger and angry looking, i thought it was infected, today mammo again, ulstrasound and diosp confirmed cancer. i also have to wait until next wed, timing terrible as im getting married in 7 weeks and dress V neck!
I have decided to tell my partner but not my mum or childred yet, daughter doing A levels, until i know the plan and maybe postpone wedding.
Good Luck on 25th to all

Hi jtb
I’ve got my results same days as you see your consultant I think... next wed 25th...
( had left mastectomy and SNLB a week ago)
It depends as to whether anything other than dcis is found as to further treatment...trying not to think about it too much.
I can’t change anything... it is what it is ... so will try not to stress out too much until next week.
It’s just that sense of thinking ...here we go again.... and for you that 18 years must seem like a lifetime ago.
Keep in touch, if you’d like to.

Hi, Second time for me too. Last had breast cancer 12 years ago in left breast. Routine mamogram picked up a mass in right breast, in all about 4cm.Still cant feel it but have seen the masses on xray? Two weeks after initial mamogram I was called back for two biopsies and an ultra sound. 11 days later a CT scan, now waiting for info from my team. There is a multi disciplinery meeting on weds then I will be called to make an appointment to hear the game plan. In all within the 4 weeks time scale, and Easter in there too. The waiting is the worst, keeping busy is good walking the dog is excellent. keep in touch lots of us on here to listen and chat. X
Hiya, We never like to see anyone coming back for a second time, once is enough for anyone! you must have all but forgotten it had happened by now after 18 years.
I would say it was 8mm if you've been told it's small as 8 cms is pretty big so that's a positive.
Treatment has obviously moved on enormously since your first diagnosis and is more tailored to the individual now so you may not have the same as you did before.
I'm sure you feel angry at this happening again but you will get your head around it and deal with your treatment but allow yourself time to feel sorry for yourself , I know I will be furious if mine ever dares to come back! Plenty of help and support across the forum so you don't need to sit at home and stress on your own as there will be someone around to chat to pretty much all the time Xx Jo
Hi Jtb
really sorry to read your post.
I too am back for a second time ( as of last month) but after 6 years and it’s really crappy I know.
i had 2 x WLEs for dcis in 2012 and the scans/biopsy this time has shown further dcis ( to be confirmed after my surgery results) in the same breast same area.
I think if you were told reasonably small then the 8mm is likely to be right. My dcis area was estimated at 37mm this time round and the consultant called that ‘a large area’.
I would imagine next next Wednesday seems like ages away and you know as well as anyone that the waiting game is the worst.
take care, am thinking of you

Well, if 'reasonably small' surely not 8cm ?? That would be very large. Maybe someone else could come and give their thoughts here too, fellow CCers, but 8cm in diameter would be huge I would think and very obvious without the need for a mammogram.
So, have you not seen the surgeon at all yet, and it was a radiographer that gave you this news following a biopsy? Have they designated a breast cancer nurse to you yet?
Sorry, quite a few questions, I just like to 'build a picture' to see how we can help.
Hi Charys...thank you so much for your reply. Yes it's a huge shock and I was probably in a 'sense of security'. I was 'recalled' after a routine mammogram. She did say it was reasonably small at 8mm (or was it 8cm) I've not been told anything else and my first appointment is on 25th April. It's the waiting that is so hard and everything is going through my mind like everyone else. Thank you again.
Hiyer jtb,
Welcome to bcc. Not a nice place to have to be, but a great resource for those who are struggling with their bc diagnosis.
What a huge shock, after 18 years, to have a new primary or recurrence. (not sure which it counts as ?) You know though that you did this once, and can do it again. Those may seem like trite words, I hope they don't, but as horrendous as this is to find out you need to 'go it all again' you know that you can kick it to the dust in the same fashion. I'm not sure how much you know yet from your bc team. Is it the same cancer type or different to last time? Was it found during routine screening?
Hi everyone...Just new to this forum right now. I first had BC in 2000, had a lumpectomy, chemo & radiotherapy. I have just been told last Thursday (after 18 years) it has returned on the same site. Everyone has gone back to work and I'm struggling this morning...I am trying to be positive and have to wait till 25th April for a consultation. HELP!!
