Re: Shocked

I'd say by 4 weeks I was feeling pretty much ok. I stopped wearing a bra at night then as I was just feeling so hot and constricted in it. I did have a couple of vest type things that I wore but have even given up on those now.

I find when I wake up I'm quite stiff and achy in that area so do the arm exercises just before I get in the shower.

Ive started using Bio-oil twice a day on my scar. It's looking quite pink but I know it will fade overtime. It's a axing how the body heals.

Re: Shocked

Hi Lou

Apparently it’s very common but I actually hated every second! Like you did I still feel unsteady 3 days post op. Hoping it will go soon though as it’s rather irritating.

how long until you felt better? And yes I’m not taking this bra off… I’m currently running a bath and will even sit in the bath with it on 😂

@confused22

I had a reaction to the anaesthetic too. I was brought round and started to retch so was given anti-sickness. I felt ok back on the ward, had some toast but then by late afternoon my blood pressure dropped and I was nearly sick again. More anti sickness given. It was the weirdest feeling ever. I didn't even have the energy to open my eye lids.

I had to stay in overnight and felt very unsteady on my feet for a few days.

I wore a bra for 4 weeks 24/7, my surgeon told me it aids healing.

I hope you continue to improve. I'm 5 weeks post op now. Cancer has gone but chemo next.

Re: Shocked

I’m not even sure if I’m posting things properly on here yet. So please bear with me.
Surgery is done. I was completely surprised at how long it took! I was in for around 4 hours which seemed crazy but I guess the lymphatic system is tiny ?

I did react badly to the anesthetic and felt awfully sick and dizzy nearly passing out every time I stood up. But I managed to come home the same day, with a very painful drain in place.

yesterday was hard but after I got my pain under control and braved putting a bra on over the dressing and tube the relief from the support I got was a game changer. I’m a D cup and the drain was in at an angle so it was horrible. Now though it can stay as long as it needs to  because it’s no longer got a gravitational pull from my wound!

mom and off I’m still quite tired but not as out of it as I was yesterday.

results in 2 weeks from lumpectomy and node clearance and then I guess it will be chemo

Re: Shocked

Thankyou so much!

okay so an update now is that I’m fully focussed on getting through the surgery on Thursday. Went shopping for the last three days of freedom and got post op bra, slippers etc then we spent a fortune in Morrison’s today buying lovely food and treats (completely off my slimming world plan until I’ve recovered from surgery at least)

I’ve  had my long hair cut off which was quite freeing in all fairness, although my hairdresser cried buckets bless her!

and now I’ve had my covid test and I’m in  isolation until mylumpectomy and lymph node removal on the 2nd.

I’ve got a good support network… and I’ve only had a couple of mini meltdowns ,whilst drunk so I don’t think they actually count 😂👍

I actually feel quite grateful that the surgery and treatments are happening so fast xxx

Re: Shocked

Hey honey,

how you are feeling is normal. I was a bluer for weeks and only just now coming to terms with how life has and will change. You will reach a point where you can make sense of all the treatment, but I’m not gonna lie there will be wobble times, and that is ok. Let your thoughts and feelings flow, be kind to yourself, do what is best for YOU, no one else. You have got this and we are all here for you.

Re: Shocked

I'm 12 days post lumpectomy surgery. I had 3 lymph nodes removed too. I go on the 20th to get my results and then chemo should start mid September as long as clear margins.

I have stage 2 lobular cancer ER/HER2+.

I have a blog over on the Macmillan forum under Cancer Messed with the Wrong Boobs.

Any questions just ask. It's a lot to get your head around.

Re: Shocked

hi @confused22

sorry to hear that you have recently been diagnosed.
I am also having a lumpectomy this week and understand the feeling of being in a daze, it’s like a bad dream that you cannot wake up from.
I have found this forum so helpful over the past few weeks, ladies that have gone through or are going through this too who understand exactly how we are feeling.

Good that you are focused, we will get through this one step at a time xx

Shocked

Hello.

so I got my result on weds 2nd stage but I’ve not read through my notes properly as yet.

it’s in my lymph nodes too so surgery for me on the 2nd sept then chemo.

im having a lumpectomy

Crazy things are going through my head but I’m staying focused, like I will cut my hair short before the surgery or maybe after and before chemo

my family all know now, well most of them do.

and the people who matter at work.

im still going to work until I have to isolate

I just seem to be in a daze now xx
