Thank you kind cyber friends for all my birthday wishes, I had a nice day, went out to lunch with a friend (she had BC 8 years ago too)and that was about it.
Westie hope you had a good birthday too?
Lorraine how are you feeling now, how did you get on yesterday at the clinic?
Lily I am now the grand age of 52! Yes, I am a Beetle fan, we nearly bought one a few years back but decided it was just a bit small for a family of 5. Good luck with your blood tests. I didn't have cake but did have some creme brulee at the restaurant, then I had some flowers delivered from our son and I had a nice pressie from YD (she's 15).
Nicky lets hope the snow avoids Basingstoke this time
Have a good day everyone
Good luck Lily with the bloods and onc - what are all the tests for, just routine?? Know what you mean about the invites, i used to love designing them and seeing them finished but the bit in between was hard work, that's why I moved to jewellery - maybe you should be waitress and just keep them supplied with tea and biscuits!!
Lorraine hope you arent in hospital and you got sorted xxx
WEll hope you have recovered from your birthday Peacock and Westie and you got spoilt.
Ah, no more snow, Nicky hope it hasnt caught you yet.
Bev hope you are hobbling less.
Well better go to bed, starting to obsess with bathroom funky ideas, eyes a gog, who would have thought such a small box room could cause me to stay up.... hee hee
Nite all xx
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear Peacock and Westieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Happy birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Hope you had a fab day and that some of your nearest and dearest spoilt you and made a fuss of you
Peacock I just wondered if your problem, down under had been resolved? I have been worrying a little for you. I guess you are a beetle fan too then. We have to stop and look at every one we pass. His Dad has done one up and says it belongs to little chap, so thats what probably started it. Did you have some nice pressies or a cake? Dare we ask which birthday it was.
They are talking about more snow, watch out Nicky!!Hope it is not coming your way again.
Lisa I missed you, so welcome back. We did actually send off for some to be made but the layers were peeling off when it arrived and the ribbon didn't reach the end of the card, so they decided to try themselves. It is a cream envelope with a pale blue wallet inside. When you pull the ribbon at the top up, you pull out the invitation, choice of menu and directions all ted in silver ribbon. Then there are comet trails and ribbony bits. Actually quite a simple design but lots of bits to it. We are all doing them next weekend apparently. They are so fussy I may go shopping for urgent things. I am the only one in the house who is not artistic although I think I am careful and neat. Victor and the double sided tape and the envelopes!!!!! OMG was he fussy. I timed him and that means he will take 8 hours just to put the tape on. No wonder they are not keen on me. If I see a pile of things to do I have this urge to get to the end no matter what!!
Lorraine how are you matey. Hoping that we will hear that they have done something for you and not that you are detained by the NHS again. Brightlight nice to hear from you too.
Bev any progress with your ankle? I bet you are cursing more snow this week.
I am off to have blood taken tomorrow. Not really looking forward to it as I have an enormous number of tests this time and wondering how much blood they will take for them. I have arranged to go in school time so at least i feel lucky to be bunking off. Then the Onc on Thursday.
Lily x x
Quick post from me. Happy Birthday Peacock, and Westie. Lorraine - hope you are doing OK, fighting the infection/cold and getting some treament really soon to help get you back on track - big hugs.
Hope everyone else had a good weekend, wil catch up later.
hi all, soz been absent had no pc access for a few days.
Peacock, happy birthday to you!!! Have a lovely day.
Lily your daughters wedding plans sounds lovely, my dream job would be wedding planner. Good on them making invites, that's how i got into card making, made all my invites for my wedding, we loved black and white cards with kids on and flowers but couldnt find anything nice, mates kids posed in garden with gerbra (my fav) and was a theme. Since then had my own web site and done normal cards for people but made about 50 lots of complete wedding stationery for friends and people i hadnt met. Theme sounds really nice!
Lorraine hope you can take someone with you tomorrow to fight your corner xx
Lily your shopping expedition sounds lovely, and little chap has got such good taste in cars hasn’t he? He’s def going to make it big in life. Your description of your daughter is magic, she sounds like a princess and you will all be beautiful on the big day.
Lorraine, lots of hugs, so sorry that you are feeling so nauseas, is it your enlarged tummy causing it and can't they give you some wonder drugs to help like the ones we take on chemo? Lily as always has some sound advice. Hope you get some good answers tomorrow, and thanks for your birthday wishes.
Hi to everyone else and hope you all had a great weekend.
Hope you don't mind me quickly coming into your strand - just wanted to say Lorraine I've been following your posts and so sorry to read about the bad time you are having at the moment. I hope you begin to have some better luck really soon.
Lorraine sorry to hear you still feel rubbish. I know how long the days drag on without enjoying meals or at least some little nice thing to brighten the day and take your mind off it for a bit. You need to power yourself up or take someone with you who will fight your corner for you. I am not sure who you take with you, but maybe even one of the boys to say look after my Mum? Or you could write down how you feel and take a letter with you. Try to find the strength to ask or you will be back home still thinking about it. I wish I was near enough to offer to come with you. What about your BCN or Macmillan nurse, they are supposed to be there for you. In fact I would be inclined to ask for a second opinion from one of the top units if you can face the journey. Hugs and hoping to hear they have a good plan for you x.
ED came round and tried her wedding dress on today. I had forgotten how beautiful she looks in it, just like the fairy on top of the cake. I haven't been to a wedding for years and this year I have 3 to go to. All the talk this evening when they came in for dinner was weddings. Suits, invitations, bills, flowers, cakes, menus, stag nights, hen nights. Hmmm should I be let loose on the town in a tutu - probably not!
still feeling crap, would love to write im feeling great but its just not happening at the moment, my drain is leaking but i will hang out till i go hospital tommorow, cos its such a fuss. tommorow im going to demand i have a treatment plan at home for this, well if i have enough energy to fight.
i feel so nauseaus eating is getting really difficult, never thought i would say that,
the tulips sounds lovely, i can visualise them.and you can enjoy them as well, sounds good
HAPPPY BIRTHDAY PEACOCK, AND JULIE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HOPE YOU KICK YOU KNEES UP AND HAVE A GOOD TIME
hope you ok
hope everyone is ok, take care x
well I will be busy tomorrow because I decided to ignore work and do what I want for a change. Had a lovely morning helping ED look for craft items for her wedding invitations - she has decided to design and make them herself. Victor is the main one doing it with her as they are both arty. I do try but I don't think they believe I am up to their high standard of card-making!! Sounds like I won't be making them all then lol. We have also been buying blue vases as the florist suggested that the barn and wooden beam setting of the venue would look nice with informal slightly different vases of flowers, so each table is individual. This appeals to ED's designer nature so we are looking for suitable vases everywhere. Colour scheme is blue and silver with stars so we have comet trails all over the place, looks very pretty. Then little chap came shopping with me and also my Mum. He is so funny - he choose a fresh baked loaf of bread;carefully checking which variety he wanted on the shelves. Then it was a box of jam tarts, Cadburys caramel bars and 2 toy cars. He usually has one car but we couldn't find a VW beetle (his obsession) and I had done such a good job of selling him a petrol tanker that he said 'Nanna I just can't decide which one to pick!' He is staying overnight and has been giving me impossibly hard projects to complete in lego! I have tucked him up in be with the wombles on sky and hope he will drop off. He goes to bed early at home but is far too excited when he stays here. So we have been watching Walle. Do you remember when Angie saw that when it first came out? Always makes me think of her and how much she said she laughed watching it.
Did anyone else get rained on all day today? Every tiem I went out the door it started or maybe it just never stopped. WEll hope you all had something nice happen this weekend. Keep smiling.
Lorraine sending you a big big bouquet of cyber yellow tulips, the real things are on my fireplace looking at me
Lily x x
Julie – yes that is the swine flu vac. I was going to see my dr today but when I passed the surgery she had so many people inside waiting I didn’t have the heart to stay. It has been better today though, for the first time in 10 days my arm has no longer been throbbing. What a coincidence, two Capricorns with birthdays on 18th. You have a great birthday too and thanks for your wishes.
Lisa you have a bigger will than me, I haven’t had a drink free evening this week and now it’s the weekend but am drinking less than before (only a couple of glasses instead of 3 or 4). Must try harder next week. Good news and celebrations for you, enjoy!
Julia your village sounds like ours, we’ve thought about buying a generator in case of power failures, which happen pretty often here. Don’t blame you for not having the pig flu vac, if I’d known how bad my arm was going to be I don’t think I would have bothered. I’ve never heard of visual migraines but they sound pretty awful, hope it clears up soon.
Bev keep up the exercises and stop ogling young men in the hydrotherapy pool LOL.
Lorraine, if cilit bang doesn’t work you could always have a go with Dynarod, seriously how bloody awful, don’t blame you for lying down. Hope the AB’s make you feel better over the weekend.
Lily the pearls sound lovely and 30 years – you would get less for murder wouldn’t you. That really is cause for a celebration so hope you are doing something nice.
As for tumour markers, well I usually ask my GP every 3 months to do the CA15-3 when I have my blood tests for diabetes and thyroid done, and as you may remember mine have been gradually going up since last Feb. However, they are still within the “normal” range, which is 32 I think, even though they are going up they say to take no notice of them. The highest level when I was having chemo was 28, and my last marker was 27! I can’t make head nor tail of them really, but still find it a bit concerning that they’re going up and not down.
Well, that’s me done for the evening now so have a good weekend everyone and hi to all I haven’t mentioned too.
carumba lots of news to read tonight! Lisa fantastic news and long may it last x Now do we get a few weeks off you worrying? 🙂 Have fun won't you x.
Lorraine how are you doing? I can spell its my typing thats rubbish and I am too lazy to edit it, sorry about that! I am surprised you haven't noticed the hundreds of typos before!!You must have felt bad to lie on the chairs, poor you. Poor you for all the faffing around with the drainage, sounds horrible and good for you for still being able to make a joke. How are the family politics going now? When do they look at if you are up to chemo? Will it be next week if you are ok? Start asking big questions buddy because if you are like me actually get quiet and placid at the very time you should be jumping up and down and asking to go to the top of the queue. Keep battlingx
Nicky how are you going with your tablets? Have you sorted out a routine that suits you now? Right plans everyone please are we meeting Feb half-term so everyone can book hols, sort dogs out, etc? That is Feb 15 - 19 and the weekend either side. Victor says not 18 and 19th as he has a meeting. Well I found some pearls I liked from an online store and they arrived today. I am really pleased with them - a quite chunky necklace with 3 rows of pearls twisted round in a sort of rope effect - looks better than that sounds and a bracelet with 3 rows of pearls and little gold bars at intervals. I am not allowed to wear them yet!! I did mention that earrings and a ring would look perfect with them lol!! It is our 30th wedding anniversary this year, which is pearl so you never know. Heaven hel Victor when we get to rubies Julia!! Nicky glad you are out and about again. I just had one swine flu jab and no problem healing for me. I think it is dropping off at the moment isn't it? Funny about the tumour markers. MY Onc does them for everyone but when you ask him about them he says oh don't worry about those unless they get into hundreds. So then why when it is an expensive test does he do them? I think most decisions come down to money these days and the extra time in the lab. My friend who is treated privately is having hers done every week. That makes me think it is a financial decision but maybe not a very important one. I am hooked on them now and can't forget the bloody (hooray)things so always ask.Must remember to go for blood next week.Crikey Julia I almost donate blood, the number of bloody tests my onc does. The only ones not ticked for me this time are bloody vasectomy and bloody pregnancy!! Neither of which I feel like experiencing in the near future:)Please try to meet up with us x.
Bev hmm which was nice - the undivided attention of the young man or the treatment, you weren't quite clear, ha ha. It will get better bloody pain waiting though!
Well better go as coffee getting colder by the minute. Start thinking about those dates and lets bloody do it
Lily x x
Lorraine - what a bloody palaver. I hope all of this has not left you feeling worse and you start picking up with the anti biotics. It would be typical (of infections - not you!) for something in your pipes causing the problem. Cillit Bang - great! Don't suppose you are up for a bit of Mr Muscle 😉 Take care - rest as much as your body tells you and hope the menfolk are behaving.
Lisa - yippee - have one for me - forget that, I'll have one for you!
To everyone else sorry if I forget to answer any comments - it's been a bit of a busy week and by the time I've read the next chapters I've forgotten the plot - so to speak. A meet up would be good and half term should be OK with me. Not visiting YD until we have to move her from one apartment to another. Having said that it could be about half term but I don't know yet until we give notice to her landlord.
Bev - sounds pretty good to me all this hydrotherapy lark - I expect it's going to take quite a while until you feel better 😉 Also I used to get migraines from sunlight as well except I didn't develop the headache part so for years had no a=idea what these flashing lights were about. I don't get them much (at all) now but am careful not to let bright sunlight catch me unawares.
Lily - sounds like a plan with the jewellery - what have you got in mind? What a lovely momento as well from the big day - yours and then the wedding later on. Hope school has been OK and the driving alright. We still have alot of slush on our road and our drive is pretty bad. Not driving my car as it's rear wheel drive but have used OH's and the D's little C2. At least I'm not housebound anymore - hooray - and I've managed to do all my days work this week so get paid - which is the most important bit! On the swine flu jab I was sent an appointment for a couple of days before Christmas. With all the problems I've heard you all having I decided not to have it - hopefully a good decision!
Also tumour markers seem to be used by some onc's only - I have asked mine but she doesn't use them - it doesn't appear to be anything to do with the actual cancer, just what they use as indicators.
Hope everyone else on here Julia, Peacock, Scottishlass and any newcomers are doing well and the weekend is good. Happy Birthday for Monday Peacock and Westie x
antibiotics seem to be kicking in a bit, still really rough though.i had to go hospital again yesterday my drain had got blocked. they promised i wouldnt have to sit around, but of course as soon as i got there they uttered those fatal words"take a seat" i sat for 10 minutes and i was so weak i thought sod it, im going to bloody lie down so i got three bloody chairs together, and lay down. 20 bloody minutes later they saw me. (lilys fault about the language)
the two nurses tried to flush it, it wouldnt so the consultant come and had to play about with the entrance of the drain, it seemed a bit mucky so they took a swab.(maybe another reason for awful feelings ive got)
eventually they got it emptying again, and they laughed when i said they should have used cilat bang! the consultant who is foreign said what is that, i told her drain unblocker and then she saw the funny side
anyway ive had loads of fluid drain since.
how do you spell heater? you a teacher and everything, lol.x
any trips to france organised?
hope arm is better
all you other ladies havnt forgotten you, just get a bit weary
and thanks for sticking by me, ive tried other sites, but the best girls are on here x
Hi Bevy: Interesting about the migraines - my glasses have reactalite lenses so darken up in the sun but I will live with it for a bit longer and see how it goes.
Nice to get the OK isn't it Lisa? I haven't had a blood test since about Feb last year when we were sorting out whether to do the Herceptin and to check my cholesterol. I have never had anything like CA's either - I think it depends on your type of cancer and the area you are in.
just a quickie my lovely surgeon gave me the thumbs up at 6 monthly check, yippeee, wine tonight me thinks!!!
nice to hear from you Julia visual migraines are horrible I get them a bit but thankfully not too often mine are normally caused by bright sunshine and so I have to make sure I wear sunglasses all the time. Maybe all the bright snow has caused yours or aggravated the situation. Thankfully mine aren't painful just unpleasant as you can't see properly. Hope they get less and less.
Lorraine hoping you are feeling more comfortable and stronger. Thinking of you.
Peacock hope the arm is a bit easier. I decided not to have the swine flu jab although it was offered as my arm came up very red and swollen from the general flu jab. Also we have friends who had the swine flu jab and felt really rough so I decided a big no to that one.
Good Luck Lisa at the hospital another 6 months gone hope all is well. I have bloods taken once a year but had that before christmas and am still waiting to receive the results. I don't know anything about CA markers either as they have never been mentioned to me.
Lily what a brilliant plan 3 daughters so needing three lots of jewellery what a clever girl! You all seem to have early birthdays mine isn't until the summer (if we get one!) in July and then hubs is august and he will be 60h! this year.
Hi westie good to hear from you and hi to Nicky too.
I had my first hydro therapy physio session yesterday and was in the pool (lovely and warm) with a very nice young man! along with another three people so annoying I wanted his undivided attentiion. It really helped and my ankle felt so much better but by the evening had seized up again. So I will be off now to get on with my exercises!!
Have a good weekend all.
HI: Lily: I am not trying to escape – honest! The eye thing is strange as I haven’t had another episode since Tuesday morning – I am keeping a diary now. I also think it is caused by the new pills – I think I will get an appointment with my onc (I do get to see mine) before the scheduled one in March.
Lorraine: hope things are going OK for you; once you start the horrible chemo at least you will be on track.
Peacock: I’m a Harry fan as well but he does have strange taste in women! Watched last night’s and it seems that Leo has made a miracle recovery for tonight’s episode – last thing we saw he was in a coma! Oh the magic of TV medicine – perhaps we could have some of that! I decided against the pig flu jab on the basis that I had enough chemicals churning around inside of me and, from the recent stats, it is not the almighty plague our so-called Government thought it would be. My sister has Lupus and she was told by her GP (after she had said no thanks) that it was not appropriate for her but “I’m not allowed to tell you that, I’ve just got to give it to everybody!” Nice!
We have rain here in Leamington today which at least makes it warmer but still yukky. I pity anyone snowed in – when I first moved to Grandborough (8 miles from Rugby, vy small village) we used to get snowed in all the time and lost the power as it came in on overhead lines. Power problem now solved but we still have a generator just in case.
When are you planning to meet up? I guess it will be during half term, let me know and I will see what I can do.
Looks like we are in for a wet Saturday but the forecast for Sunday is better – hope you are all getting over the snow.
Hugs to all
aaaarrryyy bloody bloody bloody, computer crashed after i pressed sumbit and lost my huge post when was trying for en early night so will just say night and catch up tomorrow, honest. Hospital tomorrow is with BCN or surgeon for 6 monthly check, we dont get to see onc, have only ever seen him once, never have bloods and dont know anything about CA markers even though ive asked before. fingers crossed find nothing.
Peacock - hope the arm picks up soon.
Julie and Westie - nice to hear from you
Bev - hope you arent doing too much with that snow around
Lily, Nicky - hope your snow has cleared we had another blast today.
Well I think we need to celebrate our birthdays i know 2 years ago i didnt think i would see the next one and scares me a bit that had 2 already but going enjoy each one and raise a glass - seen as havnet had one since sunday.
Watched american idol tonight - cant fit them all in at mo but love chilling in front of tv.
Nite all need sleep xx
I seem to have deleted part of my last message.Official birthday list
Peacock 18 Jan and Westie hi to you x
Lisa 30 Jan
My son 31 Jab
Me 2 Feb
When is everyone else's. Nicky aren't you close to us too?
Bev I must have been mad as I wrote Peacock on the message I meant for you! I am in the other camp of too much to do and enviously thinking about a less planned day to do what I want. We never want what we have. I know what you mean though as busy days rush by.What a bloody 🙂 pain your foot has been, literally. Take care, I nearly slipped today twice.
Hi Julia, well you are the only person in the world that I know who went through exactly the same as me on the same days so I am not letting my treatment twin get away from me.Would the visual changes be the difference between the tablets. Remember one is steroidal and they affect the eyes. I wonder whether I am better sticking with the devil (tamoxifen that is) I know but will see what the onc says next week. The aromatase inhibitors have a higher success rate but not by a great deal from what I have read. The eye trouble sounds horrible so I hope you can change back and get rid of that side effect. MY 30th anniversary this year and my 50th birthday so I reckon I am worth it too. I have been eyeing up pearls which will go with my wedding outfit. I like rings better add that to my list too then lol. As I have 3 daughters I tell my husband that all my jewellery has to come in 3s to pass on one day. Works well for me too ha ha. You take care and try to join us when we meet if you can.Take care x
Peacock you are not having a second jab are you? I am not as my immune system is very strong they say, so don't see why I should chance another painful arm. Westie I would have struggled to go back if I was you. Are you in the middle of treatment then? Hope your arm get better soon - both of you.Peacock the big day is in May, seems like ages away. I have now been invited to 2 other weddings so more nice days to look forward to. The fascinator has ostrich feathers and they waft about so delicately, they seem to have a life of their own. It also makes me over 2 inches taller 🙂
Lisa what are you up to? You didn't ask our permission to stay over night lol. Lorraine bit worried not to hear from you. Hoping the cold is starting to go and not that you feel worse. Big hugs and smiles x
Well diet bust went out to dinner and had lasagne, fries, salad (who am I kidding that salad makes the rest ok!)and then toffee cheesecake with ice cream and cream and chocolates after. Woe is me!
Better run still got some school work to do
did i also read its your birthday on the 18th, its also mine on the 18th if i dont write again happy birthday. julie
hi peacock, i notice you said you think you have had a bad reaction to the vaccine, was that the swine flu, i had my 1st injection 5 weeks ago and the injection site is still sore and red i had 2nd one 2 weeks ago and that is jus the same i did tell the nurse before the second dose she didnt seem bothered about it she said just to put a cold compress on it. I have an appointment with my GP the end of next week if its still like that i will mention it to him but i dont think there is a lot they can do about it.Do let me know what you gp says thanks julie x
Lorraine, I may be one of the newer ladies joining in with this thread but I am keen to learn how you are doing and wish you well. I can only imagine what it must be like for you, and I imagine you must feel very lonely at times. Look on this cold/infection as a little blip and once the AB's kick in you will start to be on the mend. The secondaries forum might be a good place to go, but please keep posting here too. Have you thought about any of the other Cancer forums? Just a suggestion and hope it helps.
Lisa hope you had a better night's sleep
Lily, thanks for the explanation of what a fascinator is..... I have plenty of feathers here if you need a few more. The outfit sounds very pretty, pink and grey go so well together. Remind me, when is the big day?
Nicky hope your days of work this week have come to an end, what a bloody pain (as Lily would say) having to go to work so early just so you could get there. Maybe you'll be seeing your road soon, I hope so.
Bev hope you have managed another stir crazy day, how about daytime TV or DVDs to ease the boredom, or some sewing, even knitting - now there's a suggestion!
Well I think I have had a very bad reaction to the vaccination, if it plays me up tonight I am going to bloody (see I'm picking up this campaign quite well) scream! I might see the Dr tomorrow just in case it's not/is infected. I was talking to our son via the webcam and showed him the big red blob on my arm, he couldn't believe it.
I am off to watch Silent Witness now, I just love Harry and think he is a real dark dish! Anyone else like it?
Enjoy the end of the week, and then the weekend is around the corner
Hi all: Sorry I have not been around but I have been reading through your messages. Lorraine: we are all worried about you but hang in there. It will work out for you.
Nothing much happening with me – I changed from Arimidex to Aromasin in about November as my Prof thought it would help with the joint pain – no difference, but no worse either. However now have ‘visual migraine’ which can be caused by hormonal changes – it’s the bloody pills again! It is like looking through wet glass, all the vision shifts around – bit like a kaleidoscope – not all the time just now and again. Will have to talk to the Prof – I would be happy to go back on Arimidex as I was OK on there. Had my 6 month check with the surgeon which was fine, scheduled to see Prof in March but may move that forward.
The snow has been a pest, got snowed in one day – last Thursday – but rest has been fine – it’s nearly gone now just got loads of slush and muck.
Haven’t got anything exciting to report – it’s our 40th wedding anniversary on 14 Feb – I know, I know! We are going away for a couple of days, not sure where but it won’t have anything to do with airports. The OH took me to our favourite jewellers last week and I came away with a lovely ruby and diamond ring – as my ring finger joints are swollen I’m having to have my wedding and engagement rings made larger so all told this is not a cheap venture – but I’m worth it! That would make a good advert slogan!!
Having had a very lazy year during 2009 following the end of the chemo and starting the hormone stuff, I now need to get my ass into gear. I still do my two days each week with the construction company in Leamington, but need to find something for the other days. Thought about voluntary stuff but getting involved with people means the CRB/ISA checks and I do not want to go there. I can’t do fund raising so will have to scratch my head and see what I can find. The idleness has done me a lot of good – everyone says I look better now than I have for years – just how bad did I look?
Lily – you always chastise me when I neglect you – sorry!!!! Looking forward to your birthday – I think I have given up doing that – 63 this year, will have to stop counting.
Well that’s it – better do some work. Will keep checking on what you are all up to – particularly Lorraine. Let’s hope this is the end of the cold weather for now.
Hugs to all
So sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly Lorraine but take the good advice from the other girls. As Lisa said maybe blogging on the secondaries link maybe of use to you but please don't leave here we are here for one another! and as Lily said take some medication during the evening to get the temp down and try not to panic too much. Although I can only imagine how difficult it must be. Hope your youngest gets on well in his exam. Be strong. X
Lly have a great birthday next week whatever you plan to to and the fascinator sounds lovely but I agree aren't they a Bloody ridiculous price (the vocabulary is catching!) and i too am enjoying your campaign.
Peacock thanks I know I am just being impatient with life i want to cram it all in but must learn to wait. I am off to have hydro-physio this afternoon thankfully I have friends who don't work so I can get lifts. Just hoping I will be able to drive myself soon. Hope your arm is feeling more comfortable and the weather improves.
Nicky glad to hear you are being so busy although it sounds daft but it is far better to be busy working than not and you actually get more achieved when you are busy in all areas of life. I have become so de-motivated since being confined to home again and just potter about or play on the internet. What a sad case. Still hopefully soon it will change.
Hi Lisa hope you are good too!
have a good day all
love Bev x
Lorraine I remember you cheering me through 12 doses of chemo and I may not be able to fully understand this but I will try hard to support you. You are not spoiling anything, our only concern is for you so sit back and let us fuss you for a bit princess!!I am rather in the camp 'what will be will be and there aint a great deal I can do to change it' so no worries that you will put me in a panic. You can say whatever you like, I am ok with the dark bits. PM me if you prefer. Back to you though , you know your head is always funny when you get those night time temperatures. Why not get in there first and take a paracetamol or two before the time it rises. Sometimes we forget basic stuff, the temp makes you feel ill, so take something to bring it down. Watch your tummy is not empty though.Dodgy things don't just appear in the evening so try not to worry. Hope your son gets on ok in the exam. Mine is in the middle of A levels. You need a nice but not long visit from someone who cheers you up. Take care x x.
Nicky well you know I have to be so careful at school that all my bad words pop out when I get home ha ha. Crikey more snow! We had a few flutters that disappeared and until you get down to our road there is not a lot about. Long may that last. I found the thick slush quite worrying and still going slow on the corners as my car tamp says it is barely off freezing each morning. Is it me or are people driving particularly badly in this weather? I seem tog etr cut up every day. Even an ambulance did it today. Yes well my birthday, I don't really care as last year I often wondered if I would get there.Boston sounds good for him thanks.
Peacock I hope he is bringing back a nice pressie although I can hear you asking for hetaing that works!! The school drive sounds nasty, I find the dark worse too. You have been unlucky with the jab. It might mean you need to think twice about having another flu jab after this year. Better check. A fascinator is one of those feathery things on a thin hairband that sticks on one side of your head at weddings and dos instead of a hat. No batteries, whatever do you mean ????? I can't imagine lol. It was £60 in the sale and a ridiculous price but it exactly matched the outfit so I had to have it. It is very delicate the way it wafts about. Must think how I can show you all the wedding photos without the world seeing them and outing me.Peacock I foolishly thought you would be back to driving sooner. I forget these things take time, poor you. Well I can safely say you will be the most indulgent Nanna ever as you will be busting by the time one arrives.Just be careful remember Tamoxifn is a fertility drug and you don't want one of you own do you?? What a thought, made me feel wobbly. Lisa didn't I tell you my outfit colour? Yes grey and pink and I am having jewellery for my birthday to wear with it. Lorraine thinks I am going starkers! Oh my just a few feathers, I would need a bloody flock of the things to cover my bits. I am enjoying our little 'bloody' campaign. Quite reminds me of our Dennis and ratty jokes.Your birthday is the day before my son's 18th. When is your check, is it with the onc? Mine is next week thats why I need to remember bloods as they are checking to see if I change tablets too. Must check if they put Ca 15-3 on my form. If they don't I write it on myself!!! I like to keep an eye on my tumour markers. The docs seem to find it mighty amusing that I wrote it on the form every time as they thought I had it done quite a lot.
Well I enjoyed slumdog millionaire tonight, did anyone watch it? Films come round so fast now. Hardly seem to buy DVDs.
Keep smiling everyone
hi cant stop off to try and read in bed to try and get early night at been 3am last few nights.
Lorraine do you go on secondaries section to talk to others in same position and see if anyhow has same things? But we are here for you and you arent bringing me for one down by talking about it we are all here to aire our fun, upset and worries so blurt it out, my posts would be about three pages long if i had your tummy pain and the swine flu on top of it - maybe you should get checked out incase you do have it. hope the pills kick in soon and you get some rest - what about chicken soup, angie used to swear by it.
Catch up on other posts tomorrow - night all
im still really rough and very concerned i just feel im not getting any better. come tea time i have a really peculiar head and temp seems to rise. took some antibiotics so lets hope that does it.
my tummy is a little better, but it can still be a bit painful at times, i cant believe i am being so negative, after feeling positive all the way through. i think it may be swine flu (probably exagerating but loads of my family members have been so ill)
my youngest has a science exam tommorow, evidently they definetly open the schools up for them
im finding the stage of the illness where i am hard to deal with, cos i dont seem to have people at the same stage i can share my fears with
you girls are wonderful, but i dont want to spoil your recovery by worrying thoughts.
anyway keep enjoying the snow.x
A quick flit on here whilst I can get to the pc. Well, would you bloody know it, more bloody snow - oops - Lily's Tourette's is catching 😉 Dug out the drive to get the little C2 out last night and Lo and Behold - a miracle of white covered all our tracks to a depth of 3 (more) inches this morning! Went with OH to work so ended up working more hours than I wanted (or get paid for!) Other than that all OK and YD settled back in Paris where there is no snow. No - we can't see our road, Lily - it's not been seen for 8 days now, it is really difficult to drive on and slush has yet to be invented, although the busier roads are reasonably clear.
Hope everyone on here is coping with or without snow. Lorraine lots of bug higs to you, and any one else needing them at the moment. Hope you are not feeling too bad and your cold improves with the antibiotics and you get the chemo to sort you out. I really feel for you and how rotten it must be but I'm sure as soon as you start popping those pills you will feel better and they will really help you.
Happy birthday to all the birthday girls coming up. Lily - the big 4-Oh is it LOL? Lovely if you can get a holiday out of it to celebrate. Vegas is great - very surreal and different but a real experience - not sure about the architecture though! Boston is also a lovely city - really good to walk around and good buildings. It's the 'home' of the American War of Independence so as much history as any part of the US has (which isn't much!)
Lisa - the decorating bug must be out there. I'm aiming to do our bedroom - from about 2 years ago - but we all know what stopped us then. There are some lovely bathrooms around and I'm sure a few bargains just after New Year as well.
Peacock - mystery woman - hope you are not missing OH too much - it must be very difficult this time of the year when it's so dark and cold. Have a great celebration on Monday - I'm sure your friends will make it special.
Bev - bet you have gone completely stir crazy, what with the plaster being on for so long and now awful weather. As you say thank goodness for the internet, a real time 'waster' when you need it - and I don't mean on here - I mean all the things you can search for when you've got time on your hands. Let's hope the big thaw happens as they predict - but then there may be flooding?
Take care all, will catch up after Thursday when I've done my 3 days at work and have a bit more time to be on here.
Good evening ladies
Hope the new blast of snow hasn’t stopped any of you in your tracks? We had rain all night and as it was my turn to do the school run this week I braved it this morning, but the road was still icy so I drove the 14 kms in 2nd gear most of the way, it doesn’t help that it was pitch black at that time in the morning and I really don’t like two driving hazards : unlit roads and ice! I’m pleased to say I managed it even though feeling very scared. By this evening most of the snow has disappeared so hopefully back to normal now.
Yes Lily/Lisa, my birthday is 18th – I’m intending to go out to lunch with a friend as OH will be away so no one to cook me a nice meal in the evening. He is normally only away for 2 weeks each time which is long enough, but this time is a bit extra at 4 weeks! I’m enjoying having the bed to myself which would be better if one of the cats hadn’t taken up refuge and the older dog snoring his head off on the bedroom floor – it’s just like having OH home!
Lisa, how about black and white with silver accessories for your bathroom? Will we still be talking about this event this time next year too? I hope we all are, but that your bathroom will be long decorated before then.
Lily, yes I had Pandemix too, although my arm is throbbing less it is still red raw around the injection site. One week on that is – worst injection I’ve ever had, why is it so bad? I am intrigued, what on earth is a fascinator? Does it need batteries (ha ha)? Excuse my lack of knowledge, I’m a poor lass living in the sticks in a foreign country – LOL.
Bev I can feel the longing for grandchildren, when the time is right you will be a fantastic grandma – or will it be Nanny? – they bring lots of joy and I so wish I could see my beautiful granddaughter every week (is every day too much?) but I do talk lots to her on the phone and she calls me Nanny France which I think is lovely. How is your foot now?
Lorraine, are you feeling more comfortable around your tum? A small delay whilst you are on the AB is a downer, but your body must be strong to cope with what is to come. As Lily would say, get yourself bloody stronger girl! Will you be taking steroids before chemo? They will surely make you feel a bit perkier.
Nicky and everyone else how you are all ok
Hope the antibiotice are working Lorraine and that you are feeling better. It maybe an idea to get some acqueous zinc I was advised to use that from the Haven Trust and it not only improves your sense of taste (unfortunately I didn't discover this until after chemo days) but it also helps build up the immune system. I take it in a little mineral water. Maybe worth a try.
Lily totally agree with all your sentiments! my poor little cat is basically just sleeping all the time. He is still eating and does pop out in the garden (thank goodness) but is very lethargic and his leg does look very uncomfortable but he isn't limping so maybe it looks worse than it is but we will have to keep a close eye on him.
Some good news two of my close friends (hubby and wife) became grandparents yesterday! I am sooooo jealous practically all my friends have grandchildren now but my kids have assured me I have some time to wait yet.
Peacock your day sounded bloody awful (picking up bad habits from teacher Lily!) you poor thing. I hope you have hot water or for that matter any water restored and that you arm is feeling easier keep taking the painkillers.
Lisa keep away from the scales for a while it is absolutely impossible to diet whilst the weather is so cold just wear bulky clothes I find that helps! and just think the extra podge does smooth out any wrinkles well on the face anyway. Lets think of the positives.
Hi Nicky hope you are managing to get about o.k. to work in this weather. We have had another dumping and the village is covered yet again. I am confined to barracks in any case so it doesn't really make a lot of difference to me. Hoping the ankle will allow me to drive soon as not being able to get out is driving me around the bend and back again. Thank god for the internet it is amazing how many hours you can use up!
love to all and keep warm and special wishes to you Lorraine wishing you the strength to get through all of this.
love Bev x
started on some antibiotics today so lets hope they do the trick. i am giving in to how i feel i really havnt got a choice.
sorry your all struggling to lose those extra pounds, have you been watching the new diet programme on, i think its quite good i like the idea of the 100 calorie portions i think the shops should do that.
i actually cannot stand anything sweet at the moment nor hot drinks except bovril. my tastebuds are up the shoot, its the same as when i was pregnant.
well lily you have the hat, even if nothing else. you will have to go in your birthday suit, when is the wedding again, cant wait to see pics
hope everythings ok
hope youve sorted your pipes out. ha ha
are you ok?
no mention of men lately have you give up? what colour do you fancy for bathroom, im in to black and white at moment
take care all x
pink and grey Lily, giving some of your secrets away??? dont forget to go for bloods.
Hey do we all have birthdays earlier in year? Mine 30th jan, day i found my lump before week and half of panic and wiating for results cnat believe almost 2 years, never thought i would see the day but hope we have lots more birthdays together.
Lorraine so sorry how you are feeling but maybe you need to give into it, lots of hot drinks and sleep as much as you want, im sure it will help.
Nicky you still have snow? Lily you have slush - all ours have finally gone! No swimming as yet this week as mate cant make it when i can but hoping to go tomorrow. have my 6 monthly check up this week and always have a wee panic that they will feel something i cant, mamo 8th feb too, just getting used to new normality.
Well my bathroom, i think i can remember wanting to decorate about a year ago, still havent got there - want it right hated it for the 11 years ive lived here, its peach and not nice - so spending all my time looking on web for funky bathroom furniture, shower (no bath) etc. but cant decide.
Hee hee just looked back my new year resolution last year was to loose 3 stone, think ive managed 3 lb lol bloody hell!!
well I will try to be much calmer today and I hope Lorraine that you get stuck into the terrible tablets terribly soon. Have they said if your haemoglobin is low as I am sure that would have been tested and it always makes you feel like you could blow away in a strong breeze? When I went through tricky bits I used to think it was time to nurture myself. I turned off the clocks and just lived the day and times that my body wanted. I just listened to when my body wanted to sleep and when it wanted to do nothing I ignored all other responsibilities and vegetated. If you have little energy conserve it and sit tight. You can always rotate your ankles and arms occasionally to keep the blood moving round. How is your tummy swelling now? Stick in there buddy.
Peacock glad you liked my rant. I was actually laughing myself about how many bloodies I got in, but you know what it was warranted. Our doc's receptionist got the Guillame Barre syndrome from the jab, I know some people are poorly. The jab contains some new element, can't remmeber what its called but it means it can keep changing as the virus does. Which drug did you have, as there are 2. I had Pandemrix, which can't be used on preggers ladies as it contains mercury, I found out afterwards eek! Is your birthday the 18th? Mine is 2nd Feb so a while after yours.I did not realise your hubby wa saway for such long periods of time, that is tough. Can't rest your arm if you are on your own. Good luck with your arm.
Lisa I agree with Peacock. The bloody (here I go again) scales must have gone bloody bonkers :)I am not stepping on mine just to be insulted, after your experience. I can be happily unaware of the dire situation. I took my fascinator to work today which amused everyone in our office. Me sitting there with my pink and grey ostrich feathers wafting about!
Nicky can you see your road yet? My road is still very slushy but elsewhere pretty clear.
Julia where are you. We haven't heard from you for ages?
Remind me to go for blood tests someone. I se the onc next Thursday.
Nicky, yes I have disappeared but only because I am trying to find another photo to put on and not, as I hope, because I have shrunk away with my diet and good intentions. I too could do with some 'bug higs', they sound good so please could I have some? Did you manage to get to work ok?
Lily you have such a lovely way with words and made me laugh reading all your bloodies! Glad your roads are back. Yes my bad arm is from the swine flu jab, it’s still painful today so I think I must have had a bad reaction, it’s also red so I am still taking the Ibuprofen. Your birthday is soon, when, mine is on Monday next and I will be spending it alone as OH is still away until end of January. Victor has done some interesting USA visits and hope you manage to find a lot of interesting places to visit.
Lisa it sounds like those scales are wrong, all that swimming and careful eating, no way could you gain 3 lb – well that’s my bit of support.
Lorraine, poor you, it sounds horrible how you are feeling, are you eating cos that would cause light-headedness if not, I remember when I had an abscess in my breast after the biopsy and was on antibiotics, my chemo was delayed too so dose up with hot lemon and keep warm, and it is important to eat which is difficult if you don’t much feel like it. I have lagged the pipe that was frozen in the utility room and have also put a heater in there so hopefully it won’t happen again. How kind of you to suggest that with all your worries. You rest, rest and more rest.
Today has been a better one, no disasters YD went back to school and the thaw has started although we are meant to be having freezing rain tonight and it is blowing a hooley out there.
Only 2 ½ weeks to go before OH comes back from work, I think it’s going to be a long wait.
night night xx
you echoed exactly how i feel, i keep thinking im giving in to this, but i havnt got a choice at the moment, so worried about lying about all the time, its a vicous circle cos im so light headed and larthagic try to walk a little and too much effort so i flop again.
my doc came today because i asked her if i needed antibiotics so i can get on the chemo, shes left me some but said try and let it clear on its own cos its probably viral, and can take a while. and i may feel better in few days but if im on antibiotics wont be able to start chemo.
really feel for you, have you lagged the pipes now, to stop them freezing more?
not much energy girls so hope everyone else is ok. x
hi all, will catch up tomorrow, but Lorraine so sorry for you, there's nothing worse, i know you dont want it but when you get geared up for it nothing worse than not getting it. Let us know if you are feeling better and how you get it on wednesday - hope the cold eases off as that will be making you feel tired too.
Yum, apple crumble!!! havent got weighed as scales broke so no idea if lost anything, think mam and dads gone bonkers says ive put 3lb on - cant of, surely!!
Catch up tomorrow love to all xx
Lorraine thats pants mate! The only bloody thing worse than bloody chemo is not getting your bloody chemo just when you have bloody got your bloody self all bloody ready for it and bought bloody expensive cream too to try to stop your bloody feet turning to toast. As you see I am quite calm about this :)I wanted to send you best wishes that it would be kind to you not comiserate about not having it. I am so disappointed for you and hope you are taking vitamins or whatever greeny people take to get over colds quicker. You mentioned Wednesday, is that a possible date? You didn't say does a nurse bring them and sit with you or are you on your own with a box? If you are on your own you must tell us what time and we can bombard you with texts to keep you company. Chin up buddy x.
Nicky can I have higs too if they are fat free? I couldn't get online either Victor was defragmenting I think he said. So I watched Forest Gump again, in bed.How are your roads now? Mine appeared again this afternoon.
Lisa - I think you just like meatloaf because of his name's connection with food ha ha. I missed the ice one but will catch up next week. I cannot stand that Heather Mills and will not put online what I am thinking. I am in camp McCartney.I am in for a meet up but will have to be school hols, will get back to you about it. The diet can wait!! Don't stress.
Peacock oh gosh too many disasters and as if you should be blow drying pipes with a bad arm!! No choice I guess. Was the bad arm from the swine flu jab? Mine hurt for 4 days, then my shoulder froze and then it disappeared but I refused to have the second one they wanted to give me. Or is it lymphoedema in your arm? Whatever it is I hope it starts to subside very soon and just take the tablets if they help. They might even help reduce the imflammation.
Bev talking about the loft! There would be no chance here as it is full to popping but I guess that helps to insulate it!!I am glad you at least got to speak to your daughter on her birthday, you cope well. I would not manage well at all if any of mine were away. Heaven help any partner who tries to fly them to foreign climes permanently. I think I would hire a hit man ha ha. How is catty? So sad.
Scottishlass all I can say is you must have been drinking iron bru and had your fair share of girders to put up with those temperatures!
Well had a nice evening just Victor and I and we managed to find a Columbo I had recorded. We have watched all of them but still cannot remember the plot each time. He is in my very good books because he put me on a jewellery website and said what would I like for my birthday and had picked some lovely pearls to see if I would like them. I want pearls to go with my wedding outfit. How long do you think I should wait to ask for the bracelet and earrings that go with it?? We were thinking of a party but son and I now think we want a trip so hoping it will be USA. Victor has not said 'no way' yet, which is a good sign at this point in time. I just need to do a little research and talk casually about the kind of places he would like (buildings if you can help). It is tricky in NY as he stayed there for 5 weeks when younger and they got him passes to go in the white house, fbi building and loads of fancy restaurants and shops.Once I think of something that interests him he just goes along with all our plans quite happily. Best of all I had some apple crumble left over from Sunday and we sat watching Columbo with a mountain of crumble and cornish ice cream each. Guess I won't be getting the scales out either then lol.
Take care x x x
A few unhappy bunnies on here 😞 So sorry you didn't start the chemo Lorraine - although I'm sure you don't 'want' it, it is good to get on with any treatment that may help - I think we all felt like that with our chemo's before. I hope you shake off the cold soon so you can start chemo and that it helps you regain some of your strength and make life better for you. Thinking of you and sending big hugs (by the way that nearly came out as 'bug higs' - I don't know what they are but I'll send some of those as well for good measure) xxx
Peacock - where have you gone? You are a shadow of your former self - this won't make sense to anyone if you put your photo back on here before they read this! I can just imagine the choice words you must have been saying to the water pipes! I can just about stand the cold but if there's no water for a cuppa or washing or anything else I'm not worth speaking to! Poor you, apart from the obvious that these things happen when it's cold, they really do happen to add more problems and make your day bl**dy awful. I hope the temperatures rise soon so you get defrosted and no other problems occur with your pipes.
Lisa - a small fall off the diet wagon won't hurt you! I hope it was worth it.
Must dash now as back to trying to sort out YD's phone (arghhhhh) as she got back today after her flight was cancelled yesterday. That plus OH and both D's using the pc over the weekend meant I didn't get to come on here. Will catch up again later but back to work tomorrow as long as the snow doesn't come again.
Well hello ladies,
I woke up this morning to a lounge that was 3 degrees, my god was it cold! Then I went to fill the kettle with water to find no water, frozen pipes! Was I mad or what! A good friend drove me some water over (they live in the next village) so at least I could have a coffee, and then I tried to get the frozen pipes defrosted by pouring warmish/hot water over anything that was exposed outside, and although it defrosted the garden standpipe, still no luck with the pipe where it enters the house. I proceeded to wait for it to defrost naturally, but by 5 o/c tonight it still hadn’t defrosted. I got out the hairdryer and managed to unfreeze the brass tap which is where the water pipe enters the house and thanks to a small leak there was an icicle about the size of a small potato. Needless to say what with lack of sleep because of my throbbing arm I haven’t had a very good day. Today I resorted to taking an Ibuprofen and must say it feels like it has improved so I will make sure I dose up before I go to bed. I can’t believe the discomfort I’ve had from a stupid injection! Maybe I am just a prime wuss these days. No more moaning. Our YD didn’t go to school today as the roads around our village are pretty bad.
Lorraine what a blasted nuisance you couldn’t have chemo, could they try you with Neulasta after you have it so that your blood cells get a chance to build up before the next one? Is your bird table a bit too near the house maybe? From what I remember with ours it did take a while for the birds to realise there was a fly through cafe waiting for them. I am “willing” you to have chemo on Weds so you don’t miss a whole week and those nasty C cells are zapped.
Lisa, I’m with you on the diet lapse, over the weekend I wasn’t too good and made up for all the wine I had missed during the week!
Scottishlass glad that the snow is melting, although I think you might all be in for another onslaught by the end of the week? Hope it doesn’t have such a devastating effect for everyone.
Lily, Nicky and Bev hope you are all ok,
hi bevvy/scottish lass
didnt expect anyone to be on here today, looks like im not the only one stuck in at moment.
ive recently had a bird table brought for me, but the birds arnt coming, what am i doing wrong, i have seeds and a fat ball on it?
bevvy your really good keeping up with the excercises im supposed to do them for lymphodema, but i think ive just give up at moment with everything else, arm is swollen but thenkfully not painful
So sorry Lorraine to hear you are feeling too poorly to have the blasted chemo (although I know you must dread it you just want to get on with it now) hope you feel stronger soon.
Peacock hope your arm feels better soon maybe as Lisa suggested a sleeve may help to reduce the swelling? My ankle is still quite swollen and the only way to get it down is by doing exercises (so boring and not what I want to do what with exerices for the arm aswell) I am exercised out pity none of them make me lose any weight!
Well still confined to barracks as the village is still covered in snow and ice with huge icycles hanging down from the conservatory I keep thinking when I go out to put food out for the birds one might drop onto me and I'll have body piercing where i don't want it! mind you they look beautiful.
I too watched the dancing on ice and agree Heather is brave and hopefully that will inspire others but I too don't like her or her haircut! what are we like.
Hope you got on o.k. at school today Lily and the kids managed to get in for their exams.
Love Bev x
I have had chemo cancelled before and understand exactly how you feel. You don't actually want the chemo but you sort of get your head round the idea then when it is cancelled it is hard to adjust. But there is good reason for it and it will give yur body time to repair itself for the next chemo. Just wanted to let you know it had happened to me too...and lots of others I expect.
SNOW is melting at last her in Edinburgh. It is still lying in the garden but the rooftops are all clear of snow now....the first time in weeks. And when we were out yesterday buying more birdfood it was 3 degrees instead of the recent minus 8!! It felt so warm. Love to everyone. Val XX
oh dear chemo hasnt gone ahead, they said its not advisable until the cold subsides, cos of drop in white cells, and may get something worse, im so dissapointed(can you believe that?)
but i dont feel well so hopefully by wednsday this little blitz will be over and it can go ahead. every day is still a struggle, i dont know how i keep finding the strength, sometimes i think ive used everybit and then i thankfully, get a little bit more.
hope snow isnt keeping any of you locked in doors, speak later. x
hiya all, diet well and truely smashed, had few wines last night and mam always puts on xmas buffet which we had tonight, boy i love my family!!
Peacock, have you had your arm looked at re lymphodema, i didnt want to but the exercises and sleeves defo work and do stop the pain.
Lorraine fingers crossed tomorrow goes ahead, i can only imagine how you are feeling but the fact its pills somehow makes it seem bit mor manageable and praying for little side effects.
Hope everyone else had a nice weekend.
Dancing on ice - love daniel have done since series 1, he's a sweetie and however her partners he seems to bond so well and really do what he can for them. Praise to Heather cos boy it takes guts but really dont like her very much or her hair.
Forgot to tape b.b tonight. seen that there's new series on next friday where singers take on being a opera singer - wouldnt normally be that keen but meatloaf is the judge and oh my god, sad it may seem but I love him, him voice sends shivvers down me and his humour if fab.
Happy mondays all and Lorraine hope it goes all okay, behind you 100% xxx
thanks once again, for all your messages of support. tonight theres been a lot of tension in house with my hubby, having a go at eldest son, hes being unreasonable at moment.(hubby that is)but i find when im ill hes often like this, in denial probably. but theres nothing i can do about that, so im focusing on strength for tommorow.,
i still feel the beginings of a cold, but i want to start the chemo, dont feel safe leaving it any longer.
i havnt particularly brought any special cream, but i have some which i purchased in beatties, which cost me about 30 pound, i was convinced by some sales rep it was the best thing since sliced bread, so i ended up buying it with some special nail polisher and nail strengthner, it is made from dead sea minerals, so maybe i will try that, there must have been a reason i brought it surely?
just watched bb alex told by the tree to smash up snowman, ahhhhh
i like lisaf cant believe your struggling for words,
everyone take care, dont work too hard, have fun x
Dancing on Ice was good, as usual, not sure who I am routing for, it's too early yet but I must give 10 marks to Heather for attempting to skate despite her disabilities, I don't like her but give her the due for trying. I thought Sharron was quite good, after all she has a disability too for a girl being so tall doesn't she.
Our flippin electricity tripped 3 times this evening which was a pain having to trundled the 80 metres to get to the metre to flip the switch. This is because I am trying to burn too many electrical items - like radiators to keep warm - and as yet our house electrics still aren't quite finished. Never mind, these things are sent to try us.
Bev I don't blame you for spoiling your cat, and may he enjoy your comforts as long as possible.I understand how difficult it must be today for you with your daughter being away on her birthday. The problem with lofts is they store too much memorabilia and yes, it is hard to get rid of things as everything has a meaning to us.
My arm is really painful, it seems to be getting worse instead of better so today I resorted to rubbing in some steroid cream to try and reduce the swelling. The top of my arm is swollen and bigger than the other one, so still feeling sorry for myself, aren't I stupid considering I've been through so much worse.
Anyway, night night to all xxx
good luck lorraine for tomorrow we will all be thinking of you. As Lisa said there is cream that can be used (if you do experience sore hands and feet) my brother in law used it two years ago when he was having chemo and it worked so if you need more details of where to get it let me know and I will check it out. Hope you are feeling more comfortable after the horrible draining procedure.
Lily I think being a teacher at present you are a bit damned if you do and damned if you dont (get into work that is) I feel so sorry for the kids tomorrow having to get there in time for an exam why dont they start it all later to give everyone a bit more time to be careful travelling. I like the idea of losing calories by shivering I must be shedding pounds!
Lisa I too have been trying to have clear up today we have started to empty our loft space aghhhhh which is crammed but we have someone coming in Feb to redo the insulation. I ended up looking through old boxes full of the kids school things and cards they had made so I didn't get much clearing up done. It is so hard to throw things away.
It is our daughter's birthday today and she is once again away from us in France but we spoke on the phone and she sounded chirpy and looking forward to going out with her friends tonight.
Peacock sorry about the news you received not particularly helpful but but as the scan is not for a while yet hopefully that means it is precautionary.
Well I must to off and cook some fish for my little cat's tea we are thoroughly spoiling him at present (actually he has always been spoilt but that is the reason to have pets isn't it
Lily cant believe you are struggling for words lol!!!!
Lorraine, really hope you are feeling stronger tomorrow, that procedure sounds awful, the thought of being awake freakes me out, mind so does being put asleep. What chemo are you starting monday, if its the one that makes feet sore, my aunt swore by some cream that a friend gave her, believe it or not it was cream that was used to soften cows udders, yuk but worked, also body shop hemp cream worked for my hands - good luck will be thinking of you.
Glad some others the snow is calming down -its nearly gone here but my pic shows how it was bowt 5 mins from my house, which has eventually been gritted today.
Been doing lots of housework today and catching up on tv but feel guilty had a bottle of wine, was so good last night, had two small glasses, first of week, and yes i went swimming at 9pm again, my friend goes too and better for her cos of childcare but great for me when like this as only few people in, cos boy swim prothesis could bob on its own. dad's scales showed no weight loss but couldnt get weighed in same place as decorating - better had after how good ive been.
BB - flat out last few nights but watched in bed, boy you were right Lily those mankini's and poor rapper i was laughing my head off.
So, when is our meet up? sadly i can only prob do for defo till end april maybe later in year will be okay but not sure, if some of you live nearer each other i dont mind travelling down but lorraine cant remember where you live, might be easier to come nearer you - will see how you get on with chemo.
Well bed soon, before lots more house work tomorrow!!! xxxx
