Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

hiya all

Angie thanks for tip. Hope 2nd opinion went well, not quite sure from your message - hope that means you are a candidate for parp trials and that they are going well!!!

Love the cloak!

Want some buffet, although tea just gave me bad guts so might have to have another wine (hic) (hic) and some chocolate.

Bedroom looking lovely, its my spare room which niece whos 5 is trying to own, its teal with pale shimmery butterflies on, totally girly unlike me. Me and brother been doing flat pack furniture all day and why do the leave bits out, sure its just to annoy us.

Last day off tomorrow, boo hoo, could get used to this lark, mind you havent stopped but good for mind and clear out. No news on man front yet, he works in London so not home much and think we are both used to being on own and neither making first move, Ive tried before so Im now of the view what will be will be

Speak soon and Angie hope your preps are getting on okay, its exciting, you on countdown yet?!?!

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,(Happy hen night/week everyone)
I am never going to get to sleep tonight, all this champers is going right to my head, hic. Boy do you all look hot, hic and don't you think my outfit makes me look taller and a little slimmer lol. Nicky Johnny Depp is asking for your number if you are free, hic! Lisa, hic, oh the naughtiest of all of us has come as an angel, he he he he. Angie you look radiant and beautiful but your buffet scoffing antics have left us all blotto from too much alcohol and no food. Going to bed to sleep it off. You know Lorraine has got big clown's pockets full of cakes she pinched!!
Treatment sounds promising Angie, let us know more when you can won;t you Mrs Tommy to be.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

night all, weekend starts tomorrow, do we keep the saucy outfits or do we move onto new theme for the rest of the week and move it round - maybe keep for a day or too then work out the angie wedding breakfast - booze, starters, main course, pudding, etc. etc. can you tell the angel is hungry and the hoola hoops and wine aint doing it!!!!

Any more hen night babes joining us then. Happy Friday all xx

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

What a night! I was going to change my picture for some paracetamol but thought it may get blocked as advertising or something so I will remain with the pirate for now until we move on to the next theme - wedding outfits? This will then help Lily when she has to get hers for her D's wedding! BTW you ARE looking tall 😉
Angie - hope you were sensible and got a good night's sleep and the preparations are going well. From your post it sounds like more treatment beckons 😞 You know we will be here for you. But hope this is at the back of your mind right now as you get ready for Tuesday (think that's right).
Lisa - enjoy the last few days off. Having spent a lot of time off last year it is really tricky going back, even after a short break but as you seem to love your job I bet you'll get straight back into it, all refreshed after your clear out and decorating. The room sounds lovely and sounds like you've got yourself a lodger already!
Lorraine - hope you are well and enjoying the moment(s)! What are you up to these days? You're always out and about so updates are needed! Hope your sister is recovering from her op and getting her strength back, unfortunately to face chemo.
Off to work in a while then sorting out the final preps for my Mum and Dad's 50th anniversary on Saturday. Wishing you all a lovely weekend even if the weather isn't as good as last.

Wow what happened when I was out of the room? the outfits are amazing sorry mine is appearing so late but I am catching up and have a glass on the go!!. Sorry I missed you all but have had a funny old week feeling grotty with the rotten cold sore virus yet again and feeling unsettled as a few probs as work (not sure whether I am in or out of a job will find out next week) but that talk is not for this party venue! Love the gown Angie absolutely beautiful!

Happy Friday to you all I am just off to fill up my glass!! love to you all.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
Angie I thought the wedding was on Monday? You better let us know the correct time and day so we can all be thinking of you at the moment, as cyber witnesses. I am feeling so much love swirling around you this weekend and with the wedding and hope it is everything you dream it will be. Know what I would send you as a wedding pressie if I could but I know no matter what, you and Tommy will be happy ever after. How is your Mum holding up? Get Tommy to type up a huge account of the day with all the details for us and hoping to see the photos even if they are by someone else this time.
Everyone else, I am going to stay as a bee for a while as even in my dreams I never had legs that long, always the shortest, or almost.
Bev just emailed me and we are both signed up for the race for life, in our respective towns, although we may well be making it a walk for life!! I watched my family last year doing the race for life, the cancer dog walk and the run 10k race and nearly cried at all of them. Glad to be here this year and will try to at least run through the finish line, even if only to join the queue for an ice cream to cool off! Oh dear I had not even considered pouring rain lol.Great costume Bev, now you will have to share Johnny Depp with Nicky. Really sorry to hear your job may be on the line and hope you are ok. Blasted rotten cold sore thingy too, stick your eye patch over it! Hope it all goes very soon. Lorraine did you have a hangover this morning? I actually had a headache today, first for ages and it did make me laugh after all that cyber drinking. Are you going to the wedding in your clown costume?Best wishes from me to your sister too, how is she? Nicky not long till we meet and I think I can safely say that you may not recognise me from my current picture lol.Have a fab party on Saturday for your parents and have fun with all the pressies. I really must get round to emailing our details. Naughty angel bet that chap would be back from London in a flash if you went out like that!!!!! Sorry the holiday off work had to end but you seem to have got tons done and I like the sound of the butterflies. Onc sent me a disclaimer for gyms, travelling, etc today so now I have no excuse not to fight the flab. We are going to Turkey in the summer and I would not be happy to uncover how I am so really must do something. We are off to see the wedding venue again this weekend as hubby did not see it last time, when his back went.
Angie how did the icing of the cake turn out and what is on the top of the cake?
Have a great weekend everyone

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

hiya all

What you talking about cyber headaches and cyber booze, mine was true as I speak Hic hic!!!!

Angie please tell us when your wedding is my brain not with it and cant quite remember, want to send you big hugs and wishes for the special day.

Good luck to those doing race for life - done it a few years ago - not doing it this year, decided not to do it this year, maybe next year, doing a midnight walk with all my family for our local hospice at home who do lots of good work.

Finished my spare bedroom, love decorating sooo much, well like doing the finishing touches anyhow, makes my weekends less boring but decided before op want lots of nice things so got a few short weekends planned, concerts, rugby and so on so not a proper holiday but as near as I will get.

Seen as Im a fairy, how good would it be to grant a wish?!?!? Think I know what all our wishes would be though - here's hoping.

Love to all (hic, hic) off for another before work on Monday. I do love my work but only taken odd days, when I was off was only off when sick went in rest as wanted to keep going, now having a week off realised how nice it is too have a block of time off - could actually do another easily.

Have a lovely weekend all

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
went for another lookround our wedding venue today as hubby missed it before. It was set up for a wedding and looked really fab so can't wait for the real thing. Little chap is staying over night and snoring happily. He had an accident at nursery on Monday when they let him push another child in a doll's buggy. The other littlun was just rolled out and fine but little chap lost most of the skin off his fingers and ripped one nail right out. He nearly passed out and she had to rush over. Trouble is she faints if she sees blood and it seems he might be similar. Her friend has been dressing them but they put waterproof plasters on the fingers and I noticed a really dodgy smell when he sat with me. So while he slept I cut the plasters off and 2 of the fingers are really gooey so glad I did. Not sure how I will explain treasured Winnie the Pooh plasters turning into white breathable ones overnight. Touch of magic I think.
I checked back and Angie said the wedding was 3 weeks from the next Monday so I am pretty certain it is the Monday coming. Am I right Angie and also what time? I am really excited and I am a cyber guest!!! Nicky I sent an email to arrange our next meet, hope you can squeeze me in that week.
Enjoy the weekend everyone

Lily so sorry to hear about your little grandson poor little man hope he is feeling better.

Likewise girls good luck with your respective races when you do them although I think mine may well be more a brisk walk than a run! Although I have been training and went for an 8 mile ramble today (I really struggled the last 3 miles and was always the last one)

Angie wishing you the happiest day ever for your wedding and look forward to hearing the details when you are able to let us know.

Lisa I could do with you at my house as you love decorating I just keep closing the doors so I do not have to look at it. I seem to have developed a bungalow mentality and only every get around to cleaning up the downstairs in the knowledge it is only O/H and myself that go upstairs!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

hi everyone, what a wonderful sunny day today. i went with grandsons to st annes blackpool. They went on them water balls, they had a great time. have you seen them. they are huge clear blow up balls, that you fit inside and then they push you onto the water, the idea is you get around by balance etc. i hadnt seen them before hubby had on tv. i tell you something you could lose some calories on them. needless to say i didnt have a go. im claustophobic, well thats my excuse anyway.
all this talk about drinking, ive actually been partial to a glass of wine each night, since the hen party. this site should come with a health warning! your all a very bad influence. i was a good girl before i came on here. (if you believe that i could convince you of anything).
lily i too hope grandson is better, it must have been so sore.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
well just a normal Sunday for me, marking books and then the family all in for dinner. Got all the washing done though and we break up for Easter this week, hooray. I am planning as many nice things as I can over the hols as it will be very hectic when i go back in the run up to the exams. I was surprised to come online and find comments about groups like us who chat. I am most saddened by this as we don;t force people to open our thread and read our thoughts and messages, although we happily welcome anyone who cares to. Shame, shame, shame.
Lisa sorry you are back at work tomorrow and I am sure you will be fine once you get there. Lorraine that water thing sounds wonderful but I too would be too scared to go in one. Sorry we all encouraged you to be so reckless!!Nicky good luck with your appointment this week, sorry can't recall what it was this week, a scan I think? Angie on the countdown to the wedding now. Enjoy! So very exciting.
Bev thanks he is much brighter, little people always bounce but he is still covered in plasters and gets hysterical if he sees the cuts when they are changed. One has gon green and trying to get my daughter to take him for a check up but he will go bonkers!Well done for the ramble and on getting so many donations. I have not started collecting but have a website. Julia how are you?

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Lily what is this about posts like us chatting, Inever look around the site much but hey if I didnt have you lot to blast off to or get my worries out chemo and the rest would have beena much harder place and I still like the idea of keeping in touch to know that others go through the same crap as I do but can still chat about day to day life so I will have a look but I sure aint going to stop posting on here regardless of what people say, I never come against anything but supporton this site but have heard of people being put down for certain comments and it just isnt on , suppoted to be a CARE site?!?!?

Off my soap box now well until I have a read!

Last day booo hoo, watched secret millionaire and bawled for england! Boy those water things sound fun, not sure if brave enought but do want to try new things - going to ry and get more time off as Ive been working more than 35 hours a week and lots of lieu time so going to try and get some early finishes.

Love to all and Angie if tomorrow is the big day then will be thinking and sending you good vibes all day, hope the sun shines in Penrith!! xxxx

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
Lorraine it is a random picture that caught my eye when I was looking for a new picture. The water balls look great fun but would scare me I have to say.I went round the garden centre on Sunday and bought some of the little tete a tete miniature daffs in a cute enamelled metal container and some alpines. While I was there a really old guy got caught shoplifting which was horrible. I thought initially that the shop assistant was picking on him until all became clear. I was really shocked. Very impressive about the liver's capability to recover and glad to hear your sis is sounding much stronger.
Glad I missed secret millionaire and a big cry then. You old softies! Lisa I noticed that you and Niccky had posted, well done. I was too upset to trust myself to say anything. I think of you all as my cyber Bc family and would not have made it this far without you all. No-one else can quite understand, no matter how hard they do or don't try. Nicky can you email your tel number, etc so we cancontact eacjh other next week? I won't be bringing the sky box with me so you are safe this time!!!
Happy honeymoon Angie and the little dog is my cyber wedding present to you

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Congrats Angie, way to go, hope you had a beautful day and the sun was shining!!!! When you have recovered let us know details and we want a photo when you are up to it.

Well, hummm what to change my picture to?!?!? Will be glad to get rid of my Angel wings. Boy was dreading logging on as I never ever reply to posts keep outa trouble but it did wind me up and after I few wines, truth will out! I do know what they meant but hey, look at what you want, we were decent enought to move our posts to a more relevant bit and within them we have probably covered lots of queries.

Well, back to work today, trying to keep calm but back home and headache hit in and arm ache so its obvioulsy work doing it so going to be more sensible and if it doesnt get done it doesnt.

Think people must know about secret millionaire but then again they are maybe all filmed at a similar time then relayed latter - it was a very emotional one. Glad your sister doing okay, hope the liver regrowth goes well, that's amazing, mind I think my takes a bit too much hammering so off the booze week nights - well trying again anyhow.

Off to look for a photo now as I think Ive lost my angel status.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi Ladies

A quick catch up with things in the N08 household.
We (my 2 bros and I) gave our parents a really lovely weekend for their 50th. We went to the church where they were married along with a lot of other familiar places. We all (16 of us, kids included) had a lovely meal on the Sat eve and then set off on Sunday for another meaningful day. The weather was fairly kind to us except for a few showers on Saturday. They loved the idea of the 50 presents and soon got into the swing of things guessing the significance. A lot of laughter along the way. A full on, busy weekend which is why I was fit to drop on Sunday evening. I had a day at home yesterday playing catch up on my (still) long list but was glad to tick alot off it. I had my last massage at the hospice yesterday afternoon - boo hoo, but it does now free up my Monday afternoons now. I can get in touch with any of the therapists if I want to but would now need to pay. Today was spent on my 4 hour starvation bit before the CT scan. I don't enjoy them one bit but I enjoy results day even less! That's next Thursday, so not looking forward to that at all. I've also got my next pamidronate on Monday afternoon so I don't get away from the hospital for long. I may go onto the tablets but will start/check any threads about them. I know Lorraine is on them and it does cause problems not being able to eat or drink anything (other than water) for an hour or so 1st thing.
Hope everyone is doing OK. Sorry to hear of little 'uns finger - makes me cringe just thinking about it. Lorraine, hope your sister gets her strength back soon and her liver recovers well. Lisa - hope work hasn't been too bad going back to and I'm glad you have thought about how much you give. You do need to look after yourself still and I'm glad you had a good break and got the decorating done. Bev - hope you are OK as well.
And last but not least, Angie. I hope you are way too busy and happy to log on but please let us know how it all went. I'm so pleased for you and Tommy and I hope all your family and friends gave you a great send off into the land of the marrieds 😉
Take care all

Oh picked the wrong day especially when looking into it I met the amount in first 6 months and the year before.... and chill!!!

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
well it was rather a funny (odd) day really. Starting off by checking on my Mother, who rang the night before to say 'would you please ring me to make sure I am still alive in the morning. I don't mind about myself but what about the dogs!!'She has a water infection that seems to have boiled her brain too! So I was awake for hours wondering whether to drive over there and sit up all night, then fell asleep before I made my final decision. By the way she is fine and my brother took her to the doc this morning. Hubby went in late and cadged a lift in with me, which always disrupts my routine. I am used to just me and the vegetative teenager still in bed each morning. Just before I leave I put my very loud, persistent alarm just out of reach of his hand.
I was in the right mood to sort out a few students who have been thinking I am a walk over, so had a big growl and sent a few out to other classes until they can behave as expected. Just high spirits but really winding me up.Not sure why I care more about their futures than they do, but I do. Had a good chuckle watching a colleague try to eat her lunch which had been selotaped up by someone playing a trick on her (not a student). There were layers and layers of the stuff! The whole family came in for tea so had to cook lots of food and we all watched a very exciting episode of Holby City. Also went to buy tiles for the shower room as realised the man is coming to do it next week and they have to be ordered. Yikes. Can't wait for it to look better as we had a temporary mend and then I got this and everything ground to a halt.
Lisa yes food featured very heavily in my chemo days and nothing much has changed! I overdid the meringues too but I am sure they will come back on the menu some time. Poo about the car allowance, you go get them! You need to have a think about what is different about work days. It might be the stress but could be not eating or drinking enough, etc! or drinking too much ha ha! Hope the headaches go off as I know they worry you.
Lorraine how are you spending your days now? Nicky thanks for the email and I have replied to the one on here. Will speak again nearer the time but that looks a good time to meet. The family weekend sounds really lovely and there will be a lot of lasting memories. How did the scan go? i hope the veins were obese and helpful!MOre stabs on Monday too poor you. I get the big squeeze, mammos on Monday and rather jumpy abput it. Then genetics clinic on Thursday for a first chat to find out more. Angie hope you had a fab second day of married life. Just wondering how things are going as the big day must have taken it out of you and you were hinting that you might need dex so bit worried about you.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hiya Lily, maybe Ive overdone the food as eat lots more at work as collegue eats lots and leave me tit bits. Its stress I think as the car thing wound me up big style, how care they tell me I didnt make the miles since FEb 08 whilst im down on their records as being on long term sick, would like to know what long term sick means, apart from ops was never off more than 5 days in a row!! Ohhhh and I am always helping the directors by reminding them of what they should be doing and havent, and im just a minion.

Well didnt make work till 10am today and was sooo tired, that was without booze and headache as soon as up nad always have a buzzin in ear which has freaked me out, however, I took my temper out on a metal today with a hammer and chisel!!! determined to get up earlier tomorrow and shower and work lively (need to be), me and work friend have put signs up on the interior staff locked door to say its broken, so they will trapse round the back, come in and find another sign saying the door is jammed and use the staircase, so long way round for them all to get in but hey its April Fools Day!!!

Angie hope you are having a honeymoon or a little break - I think you might already be on the steroids, if so hope you are bearing up. Hope you had a fab time.

p.s. Lily jeleous you are getting your bathroom done. Bedroom finished and mam and dad's getting their fireplace and boiler tomorrow my treat so soooo excited for them.

dentist tommorow for two more fillings, and then i think thats them taken care of. he says my gums need a bit of tlc, though. been to watch grandsons easter play today. it was so nice ah.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
caught my husband out with an April Fools this morning. Went downstairs and shouted ohno the dog's been sick everywhere, he roared downstairs and was trying to sopt dog's sick in the gloom for some time before he caught sight of me grinning. Ha ha. Also had to register my tutor group and hand out letters to say if they were accepted into the 6th form or not. Told the 2 best behaved, bright girls that their envelopes were much thinner than everyone elses,so they almost tore theirs open and everyone looked shocked. It is a dying art and the kids were not expecting it at all. Never sounds very funny when you retell them. Lisa what did they all say? Lorraine good luck at the dentist and sorry don't read that paper so cannot help. Thanks, my Mum is a bit brighter today. The tiles are due to arrive friday and the tiler comes Monday so hope it all works out ok. They had soem odd deal on, that if you bought their adhesive and grout, you got the tiles half price. It worked out cheaper to take the sacks of stuff with us than not having them. Donating them to YD's new house as it needs doing up. Lisa we are having porcelain tiles that can go on the wall and floor. It is a small room so we are having it all that sort of swirly light brown that looks warm, doesn't show the dirt and is a bit like stone to look at. We need a cold spell for your Mum and Dad to test it all out now.
Anyone watching the apprentice? I love it.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi All: Sorry I have not been around, was away in Scotland last week and home system is down – again!

Angie: Missed your wedding but your picture looked fabulous – hope you had a great day and are enjoying yourself. Trust life is treating you kindly, have read thru all the posts and you are obviously having some problems, but let's all hope they come up with some solutions for you.

I have finally sorted the Herceptin thing – saw my Prof on Monday with the results of the heart scans, etc, and as he said "You're OK, your pump is working!". We agreed that the benefits of Herceptin – about 4% improvement – were outweighed by the heart risk – about 5% - so, in his words: "We won't do it!". He reckoned with what I had already done – chemo and rads – plus the Arimidex, I would be OK – week 10 of Arimidex, 250 to go! The first ten weeks have flown by. I now have six months off with nothing except bone density scan plus maybe another heart scan sometime. I am freeeee! Yipeeeeee!!!!!

Had my new hair cut yesterday and have decided to give up the wig – today came to office with pixie haircut – still a bit thin, but bulked up with gunk doesn't look too bad.

It is a bit trite but am now going to put the last twelve months behind me and move on. Will concentrate on the diet and exercise – walking seems to be the best bet plus loads of gardening and see how we go.

You all seem to be getting back to normal with working and holiday plans (and coping with the nasties that crop up) and that's what we all need to do.

Will keep in touch – am just off lunchtime shopping – nothing like a bit of retail therapy!

LOL

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi all
Sorry I don't seem to spend so much time on here but I've had a frantic few weeks (months!) and am still sorting out the life/work balance as well as now having to deal with Easter Hols and more (normal) treatment. All of this gives me less time at work to do my job and means I'm not spending so much time at home with my daughters. Have decided to change this for the next bank holiday and the end of May one. I've realised that over the last 12 months whenever I had some 'days off' I was ill or having treatment and any other days away etc have been the days I don't work anyway, so hardly counts at all. I would be well peed off if I was being penalised like Lisa for my days 'off' last year. As it is I think everyone thinks you're OK now that chemo has finished as all of that is so visible however for me everything is still there (unfortunately) but I also don't want everyone to know. Dilemma time! I'm also stressed out (again) as my results are due next week so sorry if I'm not so chatty (esp Lily when we try and sort out our next 'meet' - hopefully I'll be calmer next week)
Hope everyone is OK and Mums and new fittings and work and Drs appts are all good. Think you have a mammo on Mon, Lily? If so, good luck with the squashing - painful or what?
Will be here on and off but blood tests (normal) and treatment due Friday and Monday so all rather hectic still.
Take care all

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
we seem to be all over the place again. Firstly can I say I don't mind how often or infrequently any of you post, as long as you don't disappear altogether. Obviously I really enjoy your posts but please don't stress when other priorities need to go centre stage. Well the kids broke up today so I have just a training day and then 2 weeks off, hooray. We are going away for part of it so I won't be posting then unless we take a laptop. Lorraine I absolutely hate the dentist and am always scared stiff, so well done for getting that done. Hope the slobbering is subsiding now, lol. The party sounds fab, is it a big do? You must have a cake!! yummy. My house is always chaotic so no idea how people are so tidy, probably get all stressed about it!
Julia lovely to hear from you and I bet you are relieved not to be starting the herceptin visits. My onc sees patients every 12 weeks so still got lots of appointments, I have 3 this month!! Well done for chucking the dead beaver and I bet the new cut looks lovely.
Nicky I have rarely felt such turmoil in your posts, so hoping it all settles a bit and you can enjoy Easter with hubby and the girls.I am not surprised that you are anxious and unsettled waiting for results as I know last year will be playing on your mind. Remember the shrinkage you had last time and that was before chemo finished. I am crossing everything for you. I am empathising so much as the mammos on Monday are spooking me terribly. It is the first real medical test since chemo. I have had blood tests which are an indicator but still feel like they are looking inside me for the first time. Not helped by my blasted scar tissue getting harder, presumably from rads but still THERE and getting to me. So you see paranoia got me too! Nicky I have your numbers so all we have to do is fix a time and place, which we have tons of time to do. Just worry about you and yours just now. Hope the blood test is straightforward tomorrow, but still yuk to have. I have the mammos on Monday, genetics on Thursday and blood tests and the onc at the end of the month. Angie hope married life is bringing a smile to your face and that you are able to be out and about in the new car enjoying the warmer weather. It is about to disappear - I am going on holiday in the UK!!
Big hugs all you worriers.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

hi all, sorry everyone having such a hard time, I think anniversaries and tests are sooo worrying, you can have a short time feeling bit okay and then another appointment comes and wham its all right at front of mind again (not that it goes far anyhow).

Cant remember all posts now as memory like a sieve these days.

Julie - who has a tidy house? Im full of good intentions and then by time I get home from work im exhausted!! Glad no herceptin for you and you have some free time from tests and things.

Nicky, got everything crossed for you, must be such a worrying time. Feel so guilty sometimes thinking I twine when you got so much more to deal with than me, hopefully you get some good results and can enjoy yourself and get upt to trouble with Lily.

Lily have a fab time off and dont come on here while you are away have some free time. Good luck with squashing on Monday, I was more worked up about it that the actual event and waiting for results.

Well we have just had announced that we have an 80's session here, paul young, rick astley, curiosity killed the cat, belinda carlisle and midge ure - just my era and going to be in our town all on one night - might sound small fry but to get something liek that round here is a first!!! So worked out got about 10 things planned this year, fingers crossed nothing bad happens and that when I get my scan I can go on waiting list which will bring me to mid October so hoepfully will do all my nice stuff and then have op and hopefully on mend for Xmas .

Angie hope things going okay and you are off enjoying this fantastic Cumbrian weather - how nice xxx

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
just you and me today then Lisa. Crikey you were up late posting, have you given up on sleep? Or were you in a swoon about Rick Astley and co. I have to confess I did rather like him at the time!! Make sure you get good tickets near the front so you can scream a lot. V festival is in my town every summer but I still haven't been myself. Years ago they had a teenage evening too and I used to take my girls and we saw Peter Andre, boyzone and loads of others but brain gone again! Maybe I will go this year, no I won't you had to buy tickets ages ago. My son has his, it cost £170 I think. A lot of money, especially as I had to pay for it! Sounds like a nice lot of things to look forward to then. Did Mum and Dad get excited about their pressie? Why do you need a scan to go on the waiting list? Not sure when I have to have more scans but seeing onc at the end of the month so will ask then, IF I remember. Just said to hubby I'm a bit worried about the mammos on Monday. He thought I meant having the scan itself and when I said no it will be the first time they have looked at what is going on and you know what happened last time. He got a bit moody and said what was the point of all I had been through in the last year if I was going to think of things like that. Now which one of us has our head in the sand? I swear you are the only people who understand. Still I like his positivity so lets hope it is well placed. I think I'll go shopping to celebrate.
Have a fab weekend if you can

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

hiya, sadly Im in night owl mode again then as i would put it "sweating like a fat lass" through night so getting about 4/5 hours sleep - hoping for a line in tomorrow.

Got everything crossed for you on Monday Lily, my parents said same to me, think its there way of cnvincing themeselves that nothing
else can go wrong!!!

Twinning again, I seen boyzone last year, they came here for a show at Carlisle our nearest city with Andrew Johnstone from Britians got talent who lives near us. Im looking forward to some nice things, just you know what its like, dont want to get hopes up incase something bad happens but we have a blues festival here in July that has thousands attend from all over and last year I wasnt really with it so hoping to make up for it this time.

Oh concerts, always wanted to do V festival but couldnt afford it. Me and friend got tickets 2 year a go to Radio One one big weekend which was fab. Im a bit of a wierdo in my music tastes varies majorly, been to see James Blunt 3 times and Meat Loaf about 7!!!

Just listened to Whoopi Gooldberg advertising Sister Act the musical, its nothing like it or she isnt in it but Im a huge fan of hers.

Have a lovely time off work, very jeleous. I want more time off just not going to get much for nextfew months due totimescales of things coming up, although my boss off all next week!!!

Why are call centres soooo infuriating, Im all for equal ops but I couldnt understand her and hate BT with with passion, my broadband drops every night and cos they couldnt do some things with my lap top remotely they said my work lap top wont work at home, eh!! Been using it for 6 months no probs and then this week cuts me off every night!!!!

Anyhow, chilling with last glass of wine and planning to get lots of housework sorted and my dublin tripped booked. Mam and Dad's fireplace will be finished on Monday, cant wait and then doing them some vouchers for dublin and cos you only have small luggage for Dublin Im going to buy them some right sizes trolley cases and do them tags with the hotel and flight details on - get so excited about doing nice things.

Well can talk the hind legs off a donkey tonight so better go! CSI starts at 12 and got back into it again, just have to turn away for the gruesome bits.

p.s had a proper hair cut, dead short but walked into a room today and all 4 people said "love your hair fab, dark and curly" - could give the gurly bit a miss but aint complaining !!

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi you night owls, it's the early bird here.
I know I don't need to apologise for the stressy bits but every now and then IT just gets to me. I still feel like I'm chasing my tail but had a lovely chill out day yesterday so a bit calmer atm! That will all change on Monday when I've now got my onc's appt instead of Thurs as the girl on the chemo ward reception thought she'd save me 2 visits in a week. Not sure if I want it then but at least it's over and done with - so double fingers and toes crossed for me and Lily on Monday please!
Had a lovely day yesterday - if you ignore the blood test 1st thing! The hospital pathology bit is getting so busy I think I'll go to my GP's in future. I avoided them during chemo as my veins were so bad but they do seem to be able to find one for blood quite 'easily' now and at least I won't have to wait for over half an hour. After the dreaded B test and a quick trip to Tesco to sort out the weekend I went to London (NOT 'to buy heat magazine' - you'll either get that advert or not!) and saw a friend for lunch and a bit of retail therapy. The RT didn't happen - again - but the lunch was great. She works in Kensington so after a leisurely lunch we walked through some lovely roads up to Knightsbridge. The houses there are gorgeous and would be worth millions. Went into Harrods, just browsing, and some other shops and ended up in Harvey Nicks. Again, did some browsing and then sat up on the terrace outside the 5th floor restaurant and had a glass of champagne. Ladies wot lunch - we certainly were! The weather was lovely so a real treat to have a good chin wag and general catch up. We have so many mutual friends that we didn't run out of anything to say and had to run to get our respective trains to go home. Lily - we gave 'our' day a good run for it's money 😉
I can now look forward to a lazy weekend, out tonight to a friends house for a meal and hopefully a lazy day tomorrow without a mega hangover. At long last we now don't have any great plans or things to organise, unless OH and I want to, so the weekends become ours again. It's been so hectic since January that we've been busy all the time. Hope the good weather continues so we can - all- enjoy it.
Have a good weekend everyone, hope you get some sleep Lisa. We've just got into The Wire - language is foul but just about getting the hang of the characters and plot. Not into much else atm except YD has started watching The Great British Menu so we'll follow that for a few weeks.
Hope you can chill out Lily as well. 1st big break from school since chemo last year - you deserve it. I've decided at the next college/school hols to take more time off, this is what's stressing me out a bit as I'm not giving myself enough time out and have hardly had any time off since last year for me to do nothing - my days off usually coincide with appts etc, especially the last week or so. Relaaaaax.
Have fun everyone

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Everything crossed for Lily and Nicky on Monday, here's to any results coming fast as well, the wait seems endless.

Got my scan again in Newcastle, its a Breast MRI as it finds much smaller things and things earlier than a mamo - think they offer it to all BRCA1 people - I think anyone who has/had BC should get it. Arranged for me to see annethetist first so hopefully more luck than last time xx

Enjoy rest of your weekend all xx

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
Lisa I am getting warmer every week so starting to think that it was just my very low body temperature keeping me safe from the dreaded flushes. None so far since November but not sure how I will be in Turkey this summer when it is really hot. Sorry to hear it is keeping you awake. I keep getting what I think is prickly heat on my arms and legs and really annoying. Thanks for your good wishes for Monday. Still you are making me feel quite calm compared to you lol. You know I really believe we cannot change what is or isn't going to happen to us, but we could waste a lot of really fab times worrying about it. Plan to go to great places, expect to go to great places and fingers crossed you will do all of these things and the next list of things too. Missing out on all those dreams because of a what if, would be such a waste. I am looking forward to hearing about all your trips x x Glad the new hair cut is such a success. ps does one of your trips go down to London, wink wink!
Nicky, hey isn't it great how a new day and some good times make the world look a cheerier place.Ok what time is your appointment? Mine is 11.50 so along morning waiting for it! I am feeling good about this, for both of us, so please get back on and post asap. I didn't get the magazine comment, sorry. Sounds like a fab day in London, you posh bird!!!LOL. I hope you aren't going to turn out to be married to a millionaire or someone famous!! Going out to dinner with one tv star will be awesome enough.LOL. Hope you had a nice evening tonight. We had friends over but they had to go early as he has MS and tires quickly. It is such a shame. He is a real joker and spent the whole evening asking me if we could have it off in the garage. It would have been much more flattering if we actually had a garage (made into another room) and if he had remembered his glasses as lost all peripheral sight. Not sure which of us was least able to oblige,LOL. Sorry lowered the whole tone there. I would love to chill next week but hubby has said a relative of his can stay all week, but hubby is going to work!! Not amused but I am sure it will be fine as he has lots to do while down here. I will just carry on doing my own thing although one toilet is out of bounds with the tiler so that could be tricky. Nicky it sounds like all your special dates went to plan so yes time to think of yourself again. Make sure it actually happens by booking the dates in your diary now. If you don't post before Monday, sending all the 4 leaf clovers to you, apart from one for me. Everything crossed x x.
Hi everyone else, hope all is well and that you are enjoying the warmer weather. Angie how are you mate?
Hugs

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi Girls,

Good luck Lily for monday, do you get the results instantly or do you have to wait for them? always forget to ask that. Mine isn't until May aghhhhh. Dreading it as the lump is so hard now with all the scar tissue that I assume it will be even more uncomfortable.

Lisa sounds as if the MRI scan is superior to the squashing of the mammogram hope it all goes well when do you have it? How amazing you had a hair cut I just cant wait for my hair to be long enough to need one! I still dont need to brush it just running my fingers through it is quite sufficient.

Nicky good luck with your appointment with the Onc, sounded as if you had a lovely day in London and here's to many more of them!

Lorraine hope the teeth are feeling easier! after all we have been through you wouldn't think a trip to the dentist would freak us out so much but I really dont like it now. Enjoy organising your party that is a really nice idea.

Angie thinking of you and hoping you are o.k.

My temperature control has gone completely out of control!. I spend so much time being cold that I now keep getting back ache where I am so tensed up I find the hot flushes much easier to deal with than the ghastly chills that I experience as it is nice to feel warm. Thank goodness for electric blankets I can see me still using it in the middle of summer as this rate.

I should find out next week what is happening re my job but it looks as if my hours will be severally cut which is not what I want as whilst I am at work I have a structure to my week and not too much time to think about things.

Still it is supposed to be a good day tomorrow and I am going for a nice 5 mile walk with friends which will be lovely.

Our daughter came home from France on Thursday only for a couple of days training for a summer job but the lucky thing travelled on the Orient Express which looks absolutely amazing and it was great to see her as the last time we were together was last July and I was horribly poorly then so it was good for her to see mum a bit more upbeat.

Thinking of you all and have a good week Bev x

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

hi all, sweating like mad but prob due to wine and take away pizza, lol, must get to the diet on Monday, but although headaches back been feeling much more upbeat and hopefully it will continue without anything bad happeneing, just try not to think about it all now, sometimes when I hear someone has to have chemo, Im like Oh the poor thing, must be sooo hard, then I think bloody hell Ive done it, how on earth did it - but we all did and should be proud the way we all dealt with it.

Bevy, love the look, you look really happy and healthy, hey I might have a hair cut but it still aint much longer than yours, my parents are dreading the day when I can colour it again! Breast MRI would be easier if they could find my viens but already had mamo and wasnt as bad as I thought pain wise but I still panic that they see something etc. paranoia settng in.

Lorraine glad you went to dentist, I needed nothing but a scrape, albeit teeth are slack but I hate mine, spent years getting them straight with braces and now a huge gap again so arrnaging an appointment to see about something called invisilign, like retainers that straighten your teeth overtime but might be too costly.

Lily, hee hee wink wink, no trips to London planned but i sure he will be home easter weekend and sure he wont be in touch but his sisters are some of my best friends so i will know if home!!!

Will pop on tomorrow night to wish even more luck to Nicky and Lily for Monday.

Hey do we think Angie has managed some kind of honeymoon!!!!

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

bevvy, at least your hair suits you short, and it will soon grow. i know what you mean about temperature control. most times im having hot sweats but theyre very often followed by me piling blankets and everything on to get warm, and then 5 minutes they all have to come off again. uncomfortable at times. im wandering what summer will be like. seeing as i cant bare too much because of lymphodema under arm, and scar high on chest, its so awkward shopping for clothes at the moment. still at least im here to do that, and i tell myself to be thankful. at least i can hide my scars and wounds, not like the soldiers i seen in the paper last week, who had no arms or legs, theyre are always others worse than ourselves, just forget somedays.

lily and nicky
hope results are good this week, be thinking of you, at least when you meet up you can chat about things.

lisaf
teeth have settled down, i was shocked it only cost £43 for 4 fillings and scale polish, and check up i thought that was reasonable.
hope you manage to sort yours out.

have a good week everyonex

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
well I had made a resolution not to wish time away but that was before my visitor arrived. He could knock you out with BO. Poor chap is diabetic and over 22 stone (hope the bed is up to it) and kidneys going caput as refused to eat as diabetics should and does no exercise. He swelled up so badly he could not even sit and landed in hospital for 3 weeks. That was about 6 weeks ago and he has not been able to and is still not able to bath or shower because of his ulcerated legs. I am trying my best but ohh woof woof, not good with nasty niffs. This may be a very long week! Bear with me if I go potty this week!
Lorraine I have been wondering what to wear in the sun too as can't get any sun on the rads area this year, they say. Maybe fine cotton loose tops? depends what is in the shops this year I guess. Good price for your nashers, thankfully. Lisa keep us posted about the drunken bits and pieces! Dare I tell you I have coloured my hair 3 times now and the last time had several colours put in to warm it up. I dyed mine while on chemo but used organic dye. Go for it.
Bev, nice to hear from you and a lovely pic too. I had not really thought but gosh I guess they will tell me tomorrow. Yikes! Will report back more tomorrow anyway. My scar tisuue had softened but gradually got harder again since rads. It is lower than the original site as they tunnelled to avoid a scar at the top. Someone else on here was talking about the bubble thing and I thought ooh I know the famous first for that one. So sorry about your job and don't forget you may have extra rights as now covered by the Disability act. Might be worth your while to just ask how the Disability act affects what they are doing so they have to check up on it. I know exactly what you mean about those horrible shivers. They used to race up and down my body if I just move a tiny bit. I found a cellular blanket really good. Mine has more or less gone over the last month so waiting to see if I get flushes next! Fab to see your daughter and now you will be well enough to maybe go there too.
Well fingers and toes tied in knots and big hugs for tomorrow Nicky. We walk into no mans land together tomorrow, see you on the other side, hopefully the one with the greenest grass.
Love
Lily x x

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi ladies
Thanks for all the good luck and fingers crossed and double crossed bits! Trying not to think about it and picture a positive outcome but the mind does play tricks doesn't it? Fingers crossed for Lily - although with mammos you may not know straight away will you? I'm not even sure my CT scan results will be in today so I could be building myself up for nothing. Still have the pamidronate though so will be in hospital for a while anyway.
Love the photo Bev - looking really good. Hope you enjoyed the time with your daughter and it must be so nice for her to see you now after all the chemo etc which laid you (and all of us!) low. As Lily says check out if there's andy help you can get with the cut in hours through the disability act.
Lily - poor you, I would go ballistic if I had to have someone stay for that long who I didn't know - I think OH knows not to ask, ever! Try to keep busy all day and not be around the house if you don't want to be. Will be in touch later this week to sort out where/when we meet - hopefully still on for next Thurs eve?
Lisa - hope you had a good weekend - you certainly sound busy and it's no wonder you get tired - I think we all still do and carry on as if our bodies weren't attacked by poison for 4 or more months!
Angie - hope you are OK now you are living the married life and hope you are getting on with all the good things.
Lorraine - good to hear from you as well, will hopefully have more time soon to read and re-read any posts I've missed. I daren't go to the dentist atm as I really don't like my new one plus I have to be careful with the IV bisphos which can cause problems if you need any 'real' work done. Must get a check up soon though.
Take care all, esp anyone I've not mentioned - sorry - brain not in gear yet.

Re: Darling buddies from May - moving on

Happy Easter to you all.

Many thanks for the compliment re my cropped look but I think the bunny is preferable.

Hope all goes really well for Nicky and Lily today thinking of you both and sending positive vibes your way.

It is so reassuring to know that you are all suffering the weird temperature control problem (sorry I know that is not nice for you but makes me realise I am not the only one)

Lily how could you cope with having someone to stay who obviously has so many problems you are a saint. Good luck

Lisa I know it is really frustrating getting tired but as Nicky said we all forget the assault our bodies have been under. When I go on a ramble with others I am always at the back now and really struggle something that never use to happen to me and likewise when gardening, which I love doing, I can now only do half a hour before the back starts aching and the arm really starts to play up and continues feeling uncomfortable into the next day. I find the only thing that really gives relief to get it feeling near normal again is swimming which I would strongly recommend trying.

Girls regarding the sun problem as you may remember I went to Tenerife in January and it was very hot so I just made sure I put suncream on and always had a light weight long scarf with me that I could drape (very sexy) over either my arm or chest if I was anywhere I felt vunerable and I always sat under umbrellas. So long as you are careful the sun should be o.k. the other thing I needed and I think I will continue to wear this summer was a sun hat which made me feel more protected too. After all we have had a lousy Winter and really want to enjoy the sun when it is here.

Angie thinking of you.

Have a good week everyone.

Bev x
