Recovering after breast surgery

I had breast surgery last year which was a small cancer in my nipple. This was removed along with some lympne glands. Radio therapy followed and finished in November. My breast and nipple still feel quite sore and some days worse than others, so I need to know if is this normal ?

Thank you

Hi

Yes I would say quite normal! I had surgery over 18 months ago and my boob is still sore and tender at times. My nipple had to be removed and then sewn back, and I have found this area particularly tender. You had radiotherapy quite recently, so its only to be expected. If you have any concerns, please speak to your bcn.

Best wishes

Breast surgery encompassed a variety of operations with some involving more dissection and some less.  Overall, the patient needs to slow down and rest for a couple of weeks but no upper body exercise for six weeks.  It does vary from patient to patient and their daily activities.
