What is the study?
Young women with a history of cancer often struggle with psychological distress long after the end of treatment. While there is ample research regarding infertility, family planning, and motherhood after cancer, there is a very little research regarding how a history of cancer affects women’s experience of pregnancy (up to a year postpartum) – this is what the study is about.
Who’s organising it?
The study is being run by the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre.
What’s the criteria for taking part?
The study is open to women:
- aged 45 years or younger
- currently pregnant or less than a year postpartum
- with a history of cancer, currently in remission
- who are English speaking (in order to complete questionnaires)
What do I need to do?
You’ll be asked to complete a series of questionnaires relating to anxiety in relation to cancer and/or the perinatal period, as well as perinatal depression, pain, and trauma, which will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Additionally, any participants who are interested will take part in a follow-up interview during in which you can share your stories. When’s the deadline?
The deadline is 31 July 2020, but the research will be ongoing for four years after this date, so please feel free to contact Ruth after this date.
