FLEX project - A novel online programme for fatigue; a feasibility study.

What is the study?

The study is an online intervention to support individuals with breast cancer experiencing ongoing fatigue and aims to investigate the effect of persistent fatigue on how we process information.

Who’s organising it?

The study is being run by Dr Alicia Hughes from King’s College in London.

What’s the criteria for taking part?

The study is open to people:

  • Individuals with breast cancer (in remission, with active treatment finished between 3 months and 2 years ago).
  • With a laptop or computer that has internet connection because the research is online-based
  • Experience persistent fatigue
  • Not undergoing CBT or any other psychological therapies
  • Over the age of 18
  • Fluent in English

What do I need to do?

If you agree to take part, you would be asked to complete some computerised training. There are two types of this training and you would be randomly assigned to complete one of them. One is an active version of the training and one is a neutral version. This is so that we can compare them. Both types of training consist of 12 sessions completed over 3 weeks (4 sessions per week). The sessions will last about 20 minutes and can be completed at home on a computer or tablet. You are able to select the days and time you wish to complete the sessions. In addition, you would complete some assessments online, before and after the 12 training sessions and again at 1-month and 3-months follow-up.
