hi this happened to me also. I had been on capecitabine for 2 years then has progression to bones and liver. Docotaxel did nothing in fact the liver tumours grew whilst on it. I started Kadcyla in april and have had 2 scans that show stable but not sure how long that will last may be worth asking about it. I was told it can only be used when all other treatments have failed. Good luck
Thank you Nicky for your reply. I did question my oncologist about possibility of different receptor status. I had a liver biopsy before my treatment began and it did show that I was still hormone positive her2 positive, its 2 or 3 lesions that have grown slightly so maybe they are different? I'm just hoping the letrozole has a good effect!
Hi ems
I haven’t had this happen myself but just wanted to say how frustrating and disappointing this must be after 6 cycles of chemo. Quite often when a treatment is more targeted to a particular receptor this can happen as it is possible to have different types of Breast Cancer present at the same time because it can mutate. I know this happens as I am classed as hormone positive, HER2 negative but at times have shown to be HER2 positive and, when I had my liver resection done the lesion was triple negative. However with chemo I think it’s more unusual. The good news is the tumour markers have dropped a lot and the follow on treatment should continue that trend.
Maybe someone else will have more experience of this and be able to help but just thought I’d reply.
Nicky x
Forgot to add, my bloods showed a dramatic drop in tumour markers from over 800 before treatment began to under 400.
Hi everyone
I've recently finished 6 cycles of docetaxel after being diagnosed with mets to lung, liver and low volume to one hip and rib. A scan a week after finishing chemo showed some progression in liver and a 2mm progression on lung. Obviously my oncologist and myself were disappointed with this, he said some of cancer is under control but clearly some isn't. I am continuing on herceptin and perjeta which I had along side chemo anyway and I've just started letrozole. Has anyone else been in similar situation?
