I had my CT scan this morning at the same hospital as you and I drank 5 cups of water beforehand. It was just water before my last CT scan too. The time before was that horrible drink that made me gag, so I am glad it’s just the water now! Not sure of the reason why? Didn’t ask, because I didn’t like drinking that other stuff!
Hi Nicky. Thanks for your reply. Yes that drink is absolutely disgusting🤢🤢..I only ever drank half of it, I just couldn't manage any more! Yesterday, I had to drink the water in the waiting room with everyone else, so no idea why as I could have drank it at home first and saved time and contact with others! Plus no one monitored how much you drank...just said drink 5 cups of water from the dispenser and we will call you through in half an hour🤷♀️..again all of us touching the machine! Madness.
Interesting! Recently our oncology department started using a local private hospital’s CT scanner (due to COVID) and I only had to drink water, not the horrible drink disguised by flavoured squash 🤢. I put it down to a different type of scanner as I’d also not needed to drink the awful stuff when I had a pre-trial scan at The Marsden many years ago. However my recent scan at my local hospital, using the same scanners as pre COVID, I now just have to drink a litre of water before I get to the hospital to avoid the waiting area and waiting with other patients. My scans still seem to spot the same changes so I’ve no idea - especially after having SBC for over 12 years I’ve had far too many of those awful drinks and could have been spared them!
Hi everyone. I had my 3 monthly ct scan today at the new Clatterbridge Hospital in Liverpool. Previous to this they were done at The Royal. With all my previous scans I have had to drink 1 litre of gastrographin at home before the appointment. Today I was told this is not necessary now and 1 litre of water is fine. Why was it necessary before and not now and why the change? Is it cost? I did intend to ask while I was there but I was too distracted with them rummaging around my arm trying to find a juicy vein🤣...sadly I don't have many anymore due to Chemo. I just wanted it to be over with and get out ASAP!
