Lung nodules disappeared

IGF is found in dairy products and Tamoxifen and Metformin are known to reduce IGF levels (as pointed out in Jane McLellands "How to Starve Cancer" book.  I personally stopped eating dairy as soon as I was diagnosed (I already didnt eat meat).  Love to you all and special hugs to you Anniej, my chemo buddy.  xxxx

Hi Elsa, I have 4 lung mets, 2 in each lung. I am on a regime of Letrozole and Palbociclib and all four have shrunk. I am due my second ct scan next week and feel very positive. X

Dianosed with BC July 2018 tumor right breast measuring 4cm Drs started chemo right away to shrink tumor taxol once per week for 12 weeks,in the mean time bone scans and ct scans done bone scan came back clear however ct of lungs came back with 3 nodules in each lung - 5 @ 4mm and 1@7mm was told that they would reassess after 3rd chemo cycle have been scared to death recd results today all nodules gone except 2 

1@4mm and the one at 7mm is now 4mm and the tumor in the breast has gone from 4cm to 2.3cm the dr told me that the nodules are still undetermined but everything I can find and read leads me to believe that the cancer has spread from original BC diagnose

I do suffer from allergies and we had terrible forest fires were I live for about 3 Months that did affect my breathing throat etc does has anyone out there had a similar issue of lung nodules shrinking going away on there own

Hi Dennymac, it is so great to hear from you and your ongoing good news! It is now almost a year since I ended my chemotherapy and I am still NED. I am only taking tamoxifen. I had a scan in March and have another due in October and I have my blood checked quite regularly but so far the chemo seems to have worked amazingly well. I still get scared going for results of tests though, I feel a bit like I'm waiting for it to return when I think about it too much. I am so grateful for the doctors and nurses that got me through it and that I got the cancer when treatments work so well.
How often do you have CT scans? X

Hi, I realise this is a bit of an older thread but wanted to see if your scans are still ok?

I had exactly the same as you, diagnosed with secondaries in lungs after initial staging CT after first diagnosis. Never had any biopsies but was told if the nodules in my lungs go away with chemo then they are cancer. This doesn't really sit well with me as infections can clear up on their own too... Anyway, my nodules completely disappeared during chemo so I was deemed stage 4. I am continuing on herceptin and perjeta as well as tamoxifen and zoladex and my nodules have never come back.  Its now over 2 years since I finished chemo and my scans still clear.. I want to ask my oncologist the what if question but I think im scared of the answer!! Hope your scans are still good? xxx

Love when you comment Sarah Louise I have scan on Thursday coming so I'm starting to stress my lungs and liver bets have shrank last two scans so I'm keeping everything crossed

Thank you so much Sarahlouise it is great to hear of someone who has also been in this situation and that you are dealing with it so positively. I have been winding myself up again this morning searching the internet for answers so your reply has arrived at a very good time. I know that knowing what was going to happen won't change anything but the limbo I seem to be in sometimes drives me crazy. I'm having radiotherapy at the moment so I guess the regular hospital visits are making me think about it more. Hopefully once treatment ends I will start to move on and hopefully it will soon become a memory. Xx

I was dx with both primary and secondary lung mets at same time 6 years ago, over the course of 3 years the lung mets reduced and finally disappeared, I am on continuous herceptin, was on tamoxifen, now zoladex. The fear never really leaves you but being resilient strong women you learn to live with your new normal and gradually just like the the lung mets disappearing you adjust and get on with life without thinking about it everyday. I still have 3 monthly ct scans but won't allow myself to get worried about it until the day of results, othetwise you cant enjoy life or live in the moment. So far so good on the lung mets front, although I have small lesion on liver which is reducing. I promise you with time you will be able to move on in your new normal. Xxxxx

Yes, the dreaded 'what  ifs', so persistent.

I totally agree with ff, do what you have to fo, dont  get complacent, but also do try to move on, in that we all have these what ifs, and there isnt an easy fix/guarrantee for them..we have to try and take every day as a blessing and smell the roses as we goxx

FF i often wonder about mine I was diagnosed had lump and three lymph nodes out they were all clear I did the chemo then started radiotherapy at the planning scan they said they noticed something gave me ct and said it was in lungs and liver didn't do byopsy put me straight back on chemo ive had two scans which have been good I've one coming up so fingers crossed. I take hercertain perjeta letrazol and zoladex. I think I'd rather be on the medication even if they didn't do byopsy just in case but there is always a what if it wasn't secondaries x x

Hi, thank you for your reply x. The doctor said it was too small and dangerous to biopsy so just watched what happens on the scans. The chemotherapy worked really well for me killing all the cancer in my breast and lymph nodes, I'd had 2 tumours in the breast, one measuring 5cm and lots of lymph node involvement. I didn't realise allergies could be a cause of lung nodules. I've not taken any antibiotics. The doctor did say he would keep an eye on them and said I should keep the port fitted for a year. Would you expect the nodules to have returned after6 months? Its good to hear that you are doing well xx

Applecrumble, Nodules can be infection, allergies or cancer. My concern is did they disappear on their own or from the chemo. I would think if they were caused by an infection you would have needed antibiotics to clear them up. Wondering what you would have needed if they were from allergies. I woukd ask a lot of questions! I would want scanned again in 6 months, and probably every 6 months for 2 years at least. I also wonder why they weren't biopsied. I would insist if they show up again. Mine were biopsied through my back with CT guide. They gave me meds so I wouldn't feel it. I felt pressure, but no pain. Telling you this just in case. I know you want to move on, but please don't just push this under the rug. Btw, I have had lung mets for 11 years. FF

Is the radiotherapy for your lungs everyone does everything different they must be giving you the treatment just in case it was secondaries then. I had secondaries in my lungs and liver I never had biopsy just ct scan mine have shrank too I've got another scan soon x x

Hi everyone, just wondered has anyone else been in this situation?
Diagnosed in February this year, had a ct scan that showed lung nodules so was rescanned in April during chemotherapy. This scan showed the nodules had either shrunk or disappeared. Just been scanned again and all lung nodules now gone. Doctor said it could be infection or could be secondaries. He can't tell me which.
So I should be happy, whatever it was its now gone, I am cancer free, but every now and then I think they could now be regrowing and it fills me with fear. Don't get me wrong, most of the time I feel positive and grateful and lucky but every now and then I worry and wish I knew.
Has anyone else experienced this? I don't feel like I can properly move on yet.
