Re: Shoulder Pain

I got excellent results yesterday.  No evidence of active disease.  Arm pain has been terrible this past week.  I have decided to address this when next week and ask for an Orthopaedic referral for guided steroid injection.  Pain has increased when waking up in the morning.

Next PET in 6 months’ time.  Looking forward to the birth of our second grandchild in the meantime.

Re: Shoulder Pain

I have never had my arms raised for a PET scan, they are always by my sides. Please don't worry, either position will detect activity if there is any which I'm sure is not the case for you. I really think it's a side effect of the medication as it is in my case too.

Good luck for your results, I hope all goes well. Please update when you can.

My next scan is at the end is September.

Re: Shoulder Pain

I am in the Uk at present.  Had my PET scan yesterday, this time round with arms down resting on my abdomen.  Racing thoughts are f whether I should have persevered with arms raised.  Concerns that arms down will show activity,  seconds later concerned it will show no activity at all.  Tomorrow is Pet result day and I am anxious about results especially that arm pain is still present.

Re: Shoulder Pain

I am so sorry to hear about your acupuncture experience and thanks for letting me know how it went. I haven't found anything that helps the pain although I do some exercises for it which are supposed to help but haven't so far! Mine also is worse at night and turning over in the night is agonising and I call out in pain. I hope you find a way to manage the pain for your son's wedding and food luck with your next scan. Mine is at the end of September. My recent scan showed more uptake in my spine but the area in my pelvis has stayed stable. It's quite a journey isn't it?! X

Re: Shoulder Pain

Acupuncture experience was not good.  I was on the first day of Ibrance break so very neutropenic.  First needle went in and I broke down in tears.  It did hurt but I think the crying was from the whole secondary journey. Physio was very understanding and suggested we would leave it for now.my Son is getting married in 2 weeks and I have next Pet early September.  I do not want investigations before wedding- pet is only 6 weeks from now.  I know Letrozole does cause bone pain and to be honest pain is worse when I lie down or when I turn arm towards my back - like frozen shoulder.

Spoke with Physio today and in addition to muscle strengthening I am starting acupuncture next Thursday.

Re: Shoulder Pain

I have considered acupuncture yes. I will definitely look into this.

My pain originally started in my elbow, then moved to my left shoulder and then one day it miraculously disappeared and a week later had moved to my right shoulder! I also get pain in my fingers and toes also.

Nothing at all showed up on any scans and I have them every three months.

Re: Shoulder Pain

Have you tried acupuncture?  My oncologist suggested it and I am enquiring today from my physio.

Re: Shoulder Pain

Thanks for your reply.  I have been on treatment for 2.5 years and although pain in arm started slowly it has now escalated.  Mornings are the worst.  Did anything show up in your scans?

Re: Shoulder Pain

Hello. I am on a combination of Palbociclib, Exemestane and Denosumab and have suffered with bad shoulder pain for over two years which is the same amount of time I have been on this medication. I even tried cortisone injections but they didn't help. It's just another of the side effects that unfortunately affects everyday life and I totally empathise with you.

Shoulder Pain

I have been complaining of arm pain for a few months now. Last PEt in March showed no metabolic uptake and tumour markers (last done in June) are within normal range, yet, arm pain still present and because I am using other muscles to compensate for site of pain I am hurting on shoulder blade. Having physio too. Trying to undo bra is agony as is washing hair. Anyone else with same symptoms whilst on Letrozole, Ibrance and Denusomab? Pain worsened after last dose of Denusomab.thanks
