Re: Nipple reconstruction

@Joanna Lederer - thank you for sharing your thoughts after doing some research and reading other experiences. That was really helpful and also makes me think I won’t bother. I like the idea of a tattoo, as I don’t like my scar across the middle. Thanks again, Evie xx

Re: Nipple reconstruction

@Evie-S  Thank you for taking the time to post!  I did have a look through some older threads and there seems to be mixed experiences, with some women delighted with their nipples and others disappointed.  It seems to be a common fact that after time they flatten and, of course, they don't have sensation or behave like a natural nipple which, combined with the small risk of necrosis or just not liking the look of it, sways me towards not bothering.

Re: Nipple reconstruction

@Joanna Lederer - hi Jo, sorry nobody has answered your post. I can’t help you as I haven’t had mine done, I keep thinking about it but haven’t yet researched it. You might want to do a general search on the forum - just about the message to the right is a search box with options on where to search in a dark grey box. Best to choose “forum” to get the most answers. I’m also interested in this topic so hopefully someone who has had it done recently will come along.

All the best to you, and I’d be interested to hear if you do go ahead. Evie xx

Nipple reconstruction

Hi!

I had a lumpectomy and nipple removal last March and am considering whether or not to have a nipple reconstruction - has anyone had this and if so, were you pleased with the results?  The nurse said that the surgeon would use skin from the areola and they would do something to make sure it didn't go flat?! Alternatively I might get a pretty tattoo to detract from the missing nipple!

Thank you 🙂

Jo
