Hi helen1971,

Thanks for posting. Sorry to read you've started to experience discomfort. If you like, you can call our specialist nurses on 0808 800 6000 and they can provide support.

Alternatively, you can post your question to the Ask Our Nurses board, where they will get back to you with information.

Best wishes,

RUPTURED IMPLANT REMOVAL

Morning ladies.

I had mastectomy with immediate reconstruction in August 2016. About 12 months ago I started to get discomfort in the implant side and noticed a change in shape and size. Due to covid I have been waiting ages for a referral but finally had an ultrasound yesterday and was told the implant has ruptured internally.

Has anyone else had this happen? I'm freaking out a bit at the thought of more surgery and was hoping someone could tell me what happens next. And what the recovery time is like.

Thanks Helen xx
