Recommendations for a plastic surgeon in central London

I would like to know if anyone has any good recommendations for a plastic surgeon for breast reconstruction after a bilateral mastectomy. I am looking for a surgeon who works in the private sector. Thank you.

Hi Everyone

As you will see I have removed all the names of the professionals as naming any Health Care Professional is against our T's and C's. If you wish to share recommendations, please use the private message facility.  If you experience any issues with this, please email moderator@breastcancercare.org.uk .

Hi Jacqui,

thank you for your post. I am glad that your surgery went well. It certainly is scary and only us ladies understand what it is like. I managed to find a surgeon in London and will have surgery in 2 weeks time!Due to work commitments I had to wait and since I had a mastectomy in March to deal with the cancer this upcoming surgery is a revision of my original reconstruction (which was a disaster). I am really hoping that my upcoming surgery is a success and I can feel better about my body. Wishing you a quick recovery.

Hi Catbear, I know it's some time since you put your message up, so you may have made a decision on a plastic surgeon by now, but I will tell you about my experience.
I had a right breast mastectomy on 5/11/18. My plastic surgeon was ***** (has a private practice in the Nuffield, Brentwood, Essex and also works NHS Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex).
From the first time I met her, I felt that she really wanted to make me look and feel good after my mastectomy. Unless you're going through it, no-one now's how terrifying it is.
**** did a fantastic job with DIEP Flap Reconstruction. She even suggested lifting my left breast to match the newly reconstructed right one and it looks good.
It's early days for me (only three weeks post-op) and I have had some bleeding but nothing major.
I'm feeling confident in how I look and although it is all about removing the cancer, us ladies still want to look good and feel confident going forward.
I'm 57 years old by the way and I was treated by *****on the NHS. The after care at Broomfield (St Andrews Plastic Surgery Unit) was superb too.
Highly recommend. Good luck xx

can’t slack off others even though **** is a breast surgeon and not a plastic surgeon.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your recommendation. I had a really poor reconstruction experience with implants hence the need for a skilled surgeon who can try to correct some of the mistakes that were made. 😥 My research has also led me to the Royal Marsden. I am considering surgery with **** who also works there. I will definitely keep your recommendation in mind but can’t fit in an appointment as I have to go overseas to work on Sunday for the next few months!! Did you happen to research *****? He seemed to have some very good suggestions for my case.

Thank you,

I don't know about your exact situation but a wonderful surgeon is Miss *** she works privately and has an NHS practice at Royal Marsden. I thoroughly researched surgeons following a disastrous experience locally. She has empathy, is highly skilled and I am sure would be able to advise you about your particular situation. I wish you well.
