Working as a dentist after treatment

I have had six rounds of neo-adjuvant chemotherapy, and we meet the surgeon today to decide if I opt for mastectomy or lumpectomy with radiation. The tumour, which has shrunk considerably with the chemotherapy, is in my left breast and I am left handed. I am hoping to return to work in January, in a busy, mainly NHS, practice where I am an associate. I am worried that I will be left with residual weakness/ lack of dexterity in my left arm and hand. Are there any dentists on this forum who can advise or offer me any reassurance please? Thank you. Jane

Hi Janie123

Hopefully your post will generate replies soon. If you would like to speak to someone, our Someone Like Me service might be able to put you in contact with one of our trained volunteers who had a similar profession where arm and hand mobility is integral. You can get in touch with the team on 0345 077 1893.

Best wishes
