Hi. Having extolled the virtues of going private, I have now had two sessions cancelled because there is a malfunction with the doors to the treatment room!! They are having to send someone from the USA 🇺🇸 to fix this. Does anyone know if this will affect my final outcome? New sessions will be offered including Saturdays .

I would agree that it very much depends where you live. Some NHS care is no doubt excellent but regrettably much is nor 😟 I did not have a good experience. My original consultant was totally tactless and unsupportive so I chose to go private. My care has been excellent and again I see the same radiologists every time, have access to the most up to date equipment and have 25 sessions of lower dose radiotherapy rather than the 25 sessions the NHS are bound by, which has far more side effects. I consider myself very fortunate but would say definitely go private if radiotherapy or chemo is needed. Unless your hospital can provide worldwide recommended treatment .

Aside from my medication I often chew mint gum. The chewing helps produce saliva which controls the acid and mint is always good for reflux. Try doing that if it comes on again? I will get some berocca - haven't used it in years. Was always good for a hangover 😌 🍷

I suffer from acid reflux so take medication anyway, not been worse as yet. I'm up to 8 rads now and starting to feel a bit run down and tired. Not sure how much of this is psychological though??? Does anyone take vitamins etc? x

There is an excellent book by an Australian Breast Oncology expert John Boyages called DCIS - Taking Control. An Australian friend who has been through a DCIS diagnosis recommended it. He has also written Breast Cancer - Taking Control. I found it invaluable in helping me come to terms with my own diagnosis and understanding the way forward. Might be helpful?

Not exactly but I did have two biopsies very close together in time scale and it was agony. It took for ever for them to collect a second sample and was like an episode of Fawlty Towers with nurses, radiographers and clinicians running in and out of the room trying to find an area to sample! 😨 Not a process I would care to repeat. I haven't needed a masectomy so maybe worthwhile though?

I have also asked my consultant about this. He replied Dcis alone does not need hormone therapy. U.K. Standard is no hormone therapy unless invasive disease. The side effects outweighs the benefits overall.
