Thank you Ladies.  I have my appointments in the afternoons so that I can go to work in the mornings and then just relax when done.  Guess I'm worried about how my breast will react to the treatment as I have very sensitive skin and after having had an infection in the wound after my lumpectomy and then fat necrosis a couple of months later I think I may have issues lol!!!!!!!!   x Fiona ... Hi Helena   Just a quick update.   Oncologist was pleased with both wounds so re-scanned and have a start date of 2 January for my 15 sessions so I'll be able to join the January radiotherapy thread.   Great early Christmas present for myself and my partner.  I just hope I don't get too many issues with the treatment after all the issues I have had with the wound and infections as I have very sensitive skin.   x Fiona ... Hi Crocrazy   I am in the same position but have had my planning appointment and was just asked to hold my breath for 20 seconds on various occasions whilst they were marking me up and scanning me. They didn't produce any machinery but I'm not sure if it differs from hospital to hospital.  I practiced the technique sitting down but never lying down and managed it OK but you need to take a deep breath in through your nose.  They do give you time to practice when you are there and tell you if you're not doing it right and I had tohave a couple of goes before I got it right so please don't get too worried about it.  I start my treatment on 2 January so we may be on the January Radiotherapy Treatment forum together.     Take Care   x Fiona ... Thanks Helena   Just getting a bit jittery about tomorrow as I've been there before.  We checked on the wounds last night and they both seem to be OK but we never saw the the last time as we were too busy checking the operation wound so who knows.  I just want to come away tomorrow with a plan in place as it just seems to be dragging on.  A friend of mine who got operated on at the beginning of July - two weeks before me - has had chemo and started radiotherapy on Monday of this week so just feel a bit jealous and fed up at the same time if you can be.    I will update tomorrow eveing after my appointment and hopefully I might be able to join the January thread when it is up and running lol   x Fiona  ... Hello Ladies   Just a quick update for you.     Due to fat necrosis I've had two further operations since my post below - one in October and the other at the end of November as the wound from the October surgery didn't heal up.  The wound this time seems to healing OK at the moment and I am back at the Oncologist on Wednesday next week.  Following this appointment I will be having a CT re-scan as I will need new markers but I do hope that I will get a start date for treatment.   Just a little fed up with it all now as my original surgery was 19th July.   x Fiona ... Hi Lizzie   I too am suffering on and off with Thrush having started taking Tamoxifen at the end of September.  I went to the GP as the over the counter medication is quite expensive so got it prescribed for nothing.     Hope this helps.   Fiona ... View more

Hello Ladies Wound still healing and currently 5.5cm deep so starting Radiotherapy is now on hold until the wound has healed. I have to have the wound packed and dressed every other day at GP’s and back to Dressings Clinic at the hospital on Monday next week for them to check on progress. Hi   Been back in the wars this week and Radiotherapy now delayed.  I had to have a further operation on Monday this week due to infection in breast.  Consultant seemed to think the tip of the flap had some necrotic tissue which then liquified and cause a pocket of infection.  I have a drain in and was back at clinic today for it to get shortened and bag changed.  Back on Monday for another check and drain/stitches won't be removed until drain bag is empty.  I've had a call from Oncologist and she will see me in Clinic on the afternoon of 8 November and if all OK I will start treatment the same afternoon.  I just hope once I have he drain removed and stitches out it heals quickly.   X Fiona      ... Thank you Ladybowler, Debbie, Flyingarcher and Helzie.   Helzie - surgery was 19 July followed by further op (Debridement) on 16 August so all taking time as wound has been slow to heal.  Draining of the fluid was really painful and plastic surgeon said it was either a haematoma or necrotic tissue because if it is the later I think it will be further sugery.  Thanks for the tip about massaging the area but far too sore at the moment lol!!!!!!!!!   x Fiona  ... Hi   Things for me didn't improve over the weekend so I was back at the hospital today.  I had an ultrasound and 40mls of fluid drained from my breast.  I was examined again and have been given more antibiotics and some stronger painkillers with a follow up appointment on Monday.  If it hasn't improved by then I may need further surgery so fingers crossed the antibiotics do the trick in the next few days.   x Fed Up of Nottingham (Fiona) ... Hello.   This is my first post on this board although I have posted on the Going Through Treatment Board too.   I'm 48 and was diagnosed on 23 June with lumpectomy, lymph node removal and reconstruction on 19 July.  My wound has been somewhat problematic in healing and have only just had my radiotherapy planning appointment which didn't go too well.  I now have an infection and on antibiotics for seven days with treatment due to start on 19 October but have to see my Oncologist beforehand to see if it can start.  The process just seems to be dragging on and I am quite tearful at the moment.    My partner and I have been together 22 years so know each other well but sometime it is just nice to talk to other people who have been through it. We lost my partner's Dad to Bladder/Prostate Cancer in 2010 and her Mum was successfully treated for breast cancer last year.  My Dad was disgnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2015 so had Radiotherapy and is just about at the end of his hormone therapy so this horrible disease is nothing new to us but I haven't encountered any other gay women to meassage.  We have wonderful support from Family and Friends and our local Maggie's Centre but it would be nice to have other friends can understand from your own point of view.    I hope the wedding went well Justine and you have to take every opportunity you get in life so don't put anything off.  If you have a locla Maggie's you can arrange a one to one with a memeber of staff and you and your partner can both discuss how you feel.  We did this at our local centre when I was waiting for results to see if I needed chemo.   Hope you are all well.   x Fiona ...
