Ali49 I am rougher day 4 too and felt similar in the night. The new wonder antisickness that I had prior to chemo was supposed to wear off after 3 days so I guess that was it - now taking the last day of steroids and also have ondansetron to start today and have come out in a bright red flush up chest neck and face - temp normal so will just suck it up. CK glad you have survived your day you have done a lot. Sounds like your lovely Mum is your best partner for now! I had a bad night too and woke up with palpitations and in a dramatic sweat - but all calmed down and I didn't need to phone. Is interesting that I don't have injections at all until the second type of chemo following the FEC - sounds like am not missing out as they sound yuk. Different areas do different things. I am still having issues with my wounds are you? Is stopping me driving which is frustrating. I also can't believe I have put on weight during chemo and still just fancy high carbs and unhealthy stuff - hopefully once the steroids finish this will lessen. Cathysid when my nausea lasted longer last time I rang and they gave me more antiemetics to take - and have given me more this time in case the pattern repeats I had at least five days of meds - hope u get some relief soon nausea is yuk. Last time I found I couldnt look at a screen for 3 days but this time on the different drugs I can (have been messaging since the early hours as my social media is usually my thing) take care and feel much better soon x ... Meant to say I was given a different antiemetic this time as was sick several times last time is called Akynzeo and is supposed to last for 3 days and is a combination drug which takes the place of both the ondansetron and the metoclopramide- I still can have bucastem if I need something more. Well done Wednesday people - and thank you for sharing wig pranks and wobbles! I had an interesting afternoon of chemo - ruined one vein tried another then was allergic to the dressings as blooming usual - the nurse put the epirubicin in slower and it didn't hurt this time though still got a horrible head rush with the other drugs. Just finished when got a dull chest pain which I thought I would mention before driving an hour home - so had to stay for ecg, X-ray bloods etc - did manage to escape home but lost that nice window at home before the yuk kicks in so had to go straight to bed. - and still with chest pain ... but is not bad. Had a funny moment when they weighed me today as I knew I had put on some weight - they didn't believe it and insisted on checking it again- rude!! Haha maybe this eating everything I fancy needs to slow down - having said that I had a small fish and chips whilst feeling sick which is the new normal! Hi Cassie and Ali - not very technical but the one thing I needed when I went in for the first chemo was a snuggy blanket! I am always cold and it was lovely to snuggle up - and good for the veins too! Also I needed food as we have a long drive to hospital and had missed a meal. You ladies are all doing so well and making me feel better about round 2 chemo which for me is Wednesday - Hair is thinning and head feels like it has been yanked out even though it is falling of its own accord- I was interested ChasandDave that you were wobbly as I was so dizzy yesterday - but didn't really feel ill or sick just couldn't turn or lift my head. This coincided with our break in the country so made sure I didn't walk on any cliffs - managed 7 km so the energy levels are great. I have had surgery already wle and node clearance in June and July and the wounds have been troublesome since - and tbh they are the main thing slowing me down still so even when I feel great from chemo am reminded that have had pain every day since June 1st - what a drag! Am getting there though. Have a good night all - am determined to keep some Hair still on my head for Wednesday as my BCN said it would be all gone and I want to prove her wrong for a laugh! ... I am Wednesday for round 2 as well we have quite a Wednesday club on here- I am a bit ashamed to say it but am feeling more upset about going back again for the second round than the first - am going to have to put on the big girl pants that day and be brave!. Am shedding Hair now more each day - I am amusing myself by shedding all over the countryside on a short break with my husband - I imagine CSI finding my DNA all over the place - good job am not planning on committing any crimes haha. I am lucky that my head is not too sore just feels like someone is pulling a ponytail on my head. My Wig is a good one if a little 'full' the hairdresser said she will put product on it to calm it down - I was very lucky that the NHS agreed to pay for it in full (in Scotland they do this) even though there were none on their approved list curly enough for me so they approved an extra one for me saving me 120 pounds - hope everyone has a good weekend x ... if someone has time could you remind me why at this stage we are only supposed to use gentle products on skin and hair? I have no skin problems at this stage and using normal hair products whilst I still have some on my head - I check for parabens but otherwise still going with normal creams etc - thanks and good luck to those having chemo today x ... Feeling for everyone shedding today - first day I am noticing it as well - it's quite a big deal isn't it?! Am well enough for a couple of days away with my husband tomorrow so will probably have the worst of it in a strange place where I don't know anybody which suits me fine... I kept mine long wild and curly but everybody's decision re shaving cutting etc is unique and love to all and thanks again for the generous sharing of experiences x ... View more

Hello all - haven't posted for a while but am finding help in all that you are sharing - incredible how different everyone's experience has been even on the same chemo. Did anybody get advice as to when in the cycle the flu jab is safest? I am day 11 post fec and it has not been mentioned but I assume there is plenty of time to sort it. After a very rocky start for the first few days am having a really good couple of days and the taste in my mouth has even gone today and no Hair loss yet. I echo others saying when we are stronger there is more energy to reflect what we are going through - which is tough - we will get through till the end though - one day at a time. Hi Sarah I am day 4 and I went into chemo with a new haematoma in wound and yes is so sore - more like a pulled muscle in spasm than a wound- the team said it would possibly get more sore and it has - I'm allowed ibuprofen I think. I don't have a sore throat and much less nausea today so have managed more than the last few days. We are all so different - I have tingly hands and feet and a scary hearing loss - it is like symptom bingo ! Reabsci - I am so sorry you are having such a rough night - I can't offer any help with your actual symptoms am so sorry but just wanted to say I hope you get help and relief soon. The wee small hours are the worst for being overwhelmed and am so sorry you are in pain. Do you have an on call number you can ring? In Scotland there is a 24 helpline for chemo - was wondering if you have similar. How is everybody this evening? I got my meds changed for over the weekend it's nice to feel have some more back up as was pretty yuk earlier. Felt not bad today and ate a lot - after steroids after lunch - I only have one more metoclopramide to take today but started being sick again an hour ago- think am going to have to get a review of meds tomorrow as am wasted. Hope you all have good evenings x ... View more

Cath sorry to hear you are still nauseous on day 6, not surprised you are weary with it all - sometimes a wee weep is a good thing and we all do it - in my case lots! I try to convince myself that if I'm getting every side effect going the cancer munching chemo must be working its magic on the good and the bad cells... Joy in the small things is a great approach - I got a string of fairy lights to use as a nightlight to not disturb the OH they have autumn leaves on them and I loved looking at them all night in between running to be sick! Hi all thanks for sharing the ups and downs - especially from yesterday starters. Getting my chemo was interesting the epirubicin made the vein go into spasm but we managed in the end and got an ice cream headache with the chloro too so needed a long flush. Got home ok and piggged out on tea wondering if I would regret it - when I was sick at 11 I still secretly was glad i had eaten! Sick again at 1 even after a metoclopramide. Up and swallowing antisick drugs now as plan. Anyone else's feet a bit tingly? My main issue at the moment will make you laugh - I can't look at a screen at all without feeling sick - and I live on one gadget or another!
