Hi ladies...so this is a belt and braces thing. It’s to help stop reoccurrence which is far more likely when you don’t respond well to  pre surgery chemo...the pill is taken in cycles...14 days on and 7 days off up to 6 cycles. Some very kind ladies have contacted me and told me that they’re on it and mostly get a bit tired with sore hands and feet!! Trials have shown it increases your survival rate by around 30%, this was a very recent study and the results were apparently amazing. I’d still have the rads and Tamoxifen too. This was all MDT recommendation so I’m seeing the Onco Friday for her opinion. If she offers it I’m going to take it for some peace of mind!!!   Hope everyone doing well out there xxx ... View more

Thank you kind friends...I’m so so tired of it... it is a belt and braces thing...essentially if you have chemo before surgery and your tumour doesn’t respond then it’s classed as residual cancer and worsens your prognosis. The drug they mentioned is not supposed to be as bad as IV chemo but still up to six cycles. The American ladies in my situation are all clambering for it as a recent trial for it was very promising. i keep telling myself I only know this because I had chemo first so in theory I should be thankful.... i just so wanted to have Radiotherapy and then Tamoxifen and get on with life...now I might have to wait longer....aaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhh stupid cancer. So the news wasn’t good...after 5 rounds of chemo my tumours remained. I didn’t have 1 big one as thought I had 2 large ones!! I don’t believe they grew but they didn’t shrink either!!!  So when the Oncologist looked at my CT and said I’d had a great response I don’t know who’s CY they saw but I don’t think it was mine!!! So back to the oncologist for more chemo they think this time in tablet form!!!!!!  I am truly devastated and very scared xxx ... View more

Dealdoh I remember you saying now...to go through this once is bad but twice!!!! I am pleased with them although they still have huge dressings on them but the shape seems great. I’m not sure how I will feel about the scars and no nipples yet but I’m trying to stay positive and keep look at clothes that will be better now I don’t need a bra. I’ve had the Braxon, which I think Shocked has too where they put pig skin pockets in and then implants into them. I’m a nightmare patient though and keep catching my drains on stuff while trying to do normal things!!! I think Aliand is going for the flap recon so hopefully in a couple of months you’ll have a good idea from both of us.  Oh the royal wedding...I’m not a huge royalist although I love the queen and I do like Harry but I was like you Starfire watching Harry’s face just reminded me so much of Diana’s funeral I was blabbing away...although it doesn’t take a lot at the moment. is anyone who’s finished Chemo and not started the Tamoxifen having period pains...I had some yesterday and then realised that my hot flushes have al OST stopped!! Surely it can’t fire up that quick!! As for the knicker magnet...I felt it worked fairly well but then read somewhere, Nice guidelines I think that they’re not recommended for us BC ladies.... Hi ladies still in hospital having IV antibiotics till tomorrow but all is good with the boobs...physio came in today and said they’re like two adopted children....the first few weeks are the most delicate and I have toolook after them so we bond!!! Loved the analogy.... Amy I. So sorry they’ve hit you with another session I’d definitely have cried. You are so close now lovely. Aliand when’s your last one it most be next week or so.  Shocked im going to float out on my new boobs and pull you to shore... Fel...you celebrate your heart out when you’re ready...you did finish just a little earlier!! Thanks for all the positive Surgery comments ladies...I can’t really say how I’m feeling about it all!! Like the whole thing a guess, just want it done! i felt a bit bad posting my finished Chemo picture because we are not all done...   So meeting up ladies...September is good for me or if that’s too soon then October. Morning ladies...well 3 days till big op and starting to get very jittery!!! Aliand that hair is awesome...mines growing well but Im def going to buy that red stuff. If anyone has any headband type pics please post them I have no idea how to carry that sort of thinig off but would love to look more feminine... As for the running ladies I truly have to exercise or I would not have coped with all this stuff...body hurts like mad everyday but I have to do something or it would be me going mad. Amy are you finished Monday now lovely?   I googled good Tamoxifen stories and loads come up, far less scarey and some talk about women who get this mad crazy boost to their sex drive...I told my husband that and he went a bit pale!!   CT if youre reading these let us know youre ok...worried about you xxx   PS...has anybody else got a kind of cradle cap scalp thing going on?   ... Morning ladies... Its getting a bit crowded down here at the finish line...Thank goodness Shocked I am so so happy for you...just think when these SE pass then thats it... Still here cheering the rest of you ladies over the line...and decided last night when I do the Race for Life at the end of June im going to have everyone of your names on my back (oh jsut writing that makes me emotional) because Im not sure Id have made it through this without you all...xx On a much lighter note my hair is growing like weeds now have a full Salt & Pepper cover although trying to straighten my 1 inch locks did not work out well yesterday!!!! By BC nurse said if you Cold Cap so didnt go entirely bald like me then you can colour any time but you must have a skin test...she said if not and you loose all your hair they recomend around six months and thats more to do with having a full covering first... Hi Ladies Im from the January Chemo thread and I finished my Chemo (thank god) 4 weeks ago. Im due for surgery on Monday 14th Double Mx with one side Lymph nodes and reconstruction...I keep think that these are the last days I will spend with my boobs!! Its so weird...I am nervous but more of the lenght of surgery and being under anathestic for 7 to 8 hours. Kip...as Im 6 months diagnosis I can asure you that those feelings of jelousy are normal and do fade a bit as this crazy world becomes your new normal. I do still find when Im out and about that I look for people that look like theyre having Chemo to feel less alone...I also had some real anger feelings at the start too. I got my diagnosis two weeks before Christmas and it was like being shoved in a bubble where the whole world was carrying on and you could see it you just wasnt part of it..very strange times indeed. It does get better as you get going and the monthly chemo threads are a life saver xxx ... View more
