Ali49- thanks for the advice. It’s great to know we are not alone. The numbness under my arm is starting to improve, at one point I felt I could stick a pin under my arm and not feel it. I’ve an appointment Thursday afternoon for more results, fingers and toes crossed it goes ahead. I want to know my way forward, once I know I’ll deal with it, it’s the waiting that’s the hard thing. Note red -you must be kinder to yourself. I’m sure you are trying. Don’t google there is a lot of rubbish out there that can only frighten us. Everyone is an individual and we all heal mentally and physically in different ways. Perhaps keep a little of record of your feelings to see if something triggers the downs, but perhaps focus on times that give you the ups. Ask advice from your friends on here and from your cancer nurse. We are the experts!!! Look after yourself, sendings lots and lots of love and hugs. We all need them on our journey. Xx

Mine has been okay, but the nurse gave me soft pads to put under the seams to stop it rubbing on my stitches. Asda online do a range and of bras. All the very best xx

So sorry that you are sad. I had my mastectomy on January 30th and immediate reconstruction, sentinel node removal and reduction on the other side. Are you taking enough pain killers? How about trying a couple of simple exercises? It is surprising how each day I have found i can do a bit more. The same with walking, try to do a little bit more each day. If you can see progress that might help you to become more positive. It isn't an easy journey, but there are people who can make it easier for you. Forums help and specialist nurses. Don't be afraid to ask for help. It's early days for you and it is mind blowing what we are going through. Lots of love and hugs to you xx

Hi ali49. It will be 4 weeks on Tuesday since my operation. I too found it hard to get comfy. I used a triangular pillow and small cushions. Also I’ve been getting really hot, so ordered a cooling mat from amazon. It’s great, it cools me down. My husband ordered it and when it came it was for dogs!! But in fairness to him on the advert it didn’t mention that. Also I’ve tried wearing an eye mask, that shuts everything out, I won’t win in the glamour stakes!!. I started moving around straight away and went to places, where I could wander and look at things to help me think about other things. Ikea, garden centre, coffee shops. I have been sorting a few of my things. All surgeons are different, my drain came out after only 5 days, we just have to trust them. We’re meeting up with my brother and his family this morning for coffee and then we are going to a party this afternoon. They’re giving dry weather on Sunday so we’ll be out walking, 10;000 steps again hopefully. I’m eating too much at the moment and enjoying it, but have set a target for getting back to eating healthily on March 5th. We’re away the weekend before. Hope the pain subsides soon. Take painkillers to ease it, there’s no need to be brave. Have a good weekend xx

Been to have my hair cut and coloured today. It feels great to be doing normal things. More results on Thursday, so I’m hitting the chocolate again. I’m not dwelling on what could be, keeping busy and I’ll deal with it on Thursday. I’m doing the exercises regularly and I’m improving daily. Still quite numb under my arm and I’m massaging the top of my arm to try and help improvement and ease the tightness. Love to all on this journey xx

Hi, I’m miffy, I had sentinel node removal, masectomy, implant reconstruction on my left breast and reduction on my right breast at the same time on January 30th. It was a long operation but I wanted it all over at once. It was a relief to have it all over. I was sick, due to the anaesthetic but was still able to come out of hospital the next day. I am fortunate that my husband was able to look after me, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I progressed. I’d recommend a small cloth bag to hold your drainage bag, a charity provided one. I used a triangular pillow to keep me on my back. The hospital provided a bra, I got extra ones from Asda on line. I started doing my exercises the day after I came home, gradually at first, then built up. The same with walking, a bit further each day. I took co-codamol for a few days, but got constipated, so stuck to just paracetamol. After a week I only took them at night and was soon able to go without anything. Anything else I can help you with just say. It was a relief to have it all over with. I’m waiting for extra results on March 1st. All the very best to you xx

Roxanne -It’s lovely to be able to compare progress. I am exactly the same as you re exercise. The sideways one is difficult. I did it 3times on Monday and was aching, so I’ve given it a miss for a couple of days, but intend having a go tomorrow all the very best to you. Xxx

I’m aiming to drive mid March. My left arm doesn’t feel strong enough yet. I’ve been doing my exercises religiously however, I introduced a new one yesterday and I think I over did it. My arm was aching last night and I had to take 2 paracetamol. Had a lovely day out with my grandchildren today, it was lovely to get back to normal. We had a lovely walk and a great lunch. Hope everyone out there is making good progress. Love to all xx

I understand how you feel, but honestly it is a relief to have it all over. Wishing you all the very best. Take small steps and it is surprising how quickly things improve. Do what your body tells you. I had my masectomy on January 30th and today walked over 10,000 steps. Xx

This thread is really useful. I went for my follow up appointment, post masectomy, reconstruction and other breast reduction and was told that I will probably need to go on letrozole. However, as they found to very small areas of invasive cancer, I have to return in 2weeks for more results and the way forward. I had no idea there are different brands of the drug. Reading this thread is very informative. Thank you everyone. All the best to you all xx

Had results today. 100mm dcis but also 2 very small lumps 1.5 mm and 7 mm, so they will be further investigated. Back in 2 weeks for those results. Good news that the nodes are clear. Wounds are healing very nicely. At the moment I’ll be on letrozole for 5years, but it will be reviewed when all the results are back. Anyone else on letrozole? Love to all, hope you are improving daily. Xx

I had the same implant as you are having. My hospital provided me with a bra, it is fine. I wore it to come home from hospital, 24 hours after my operation. I’ve bought anther one from Asda, only on the internet, it is great, cheap and comfortable. Only downside, it’s back fastening, but I’m coping fine with it. All the very best to you xx
