I believe,  I have the MRI on the Mon,  the team then have their chat on Weds,  then I go , finally, after 7 weeks, on the Fri to hear the game plan, fingers crossed.  I find doing jigsaw puzzles an excellent way of practising mindfulness. I only do 500 piece puzzles sometimes I spend mins doing the jigsaw   at other times much longer. I find it takes my mind off of everything else and I find it restful. I would suggest that you have a piece of flat board to do the puzzle on then it can be put under the sofa, or if not on the end of a table. Charity shops are an excellent source of these items. Hi there, morning. Be easy on yourself and do take it one day at a time. Twelve years ago I was exactly in the same place as you. Lumpectomy, Chemo ands rads followed by 5 years tabs. Got through it still here. For the chemo I elected for the cold cap, this was my choice and as it happened I lost all my hair from the neck down and kept all above the neck. Got over my little hiccup this morning. Rang the hospital MRI  dept and they say my letter is in the post and is for Mon 7th at 4.10pm, yay. So ladies do I need to take anyone with me or is it a staight forward scan? Any info appreciated. Hugs ... View more

Saw the surgeon last fri he said i needed an MRI, By Tues not heard anything and my sister in law, bless her rang the hospital only to find that I had not been referred yet. I left a message for my BCN to call me back explaining why. In the afternoon she called back to apologise as the referral had been left on a desk and not been sent. She said she had walked it round herself. But the whole thing does not fill me with confidence.. I also found out that because it is for my Liver I will go into the general pot. If it was for the breast that have a specific day,Mon, to be scanned. So not heard anything possible anothers weeks delay before game plan. I am finding all of this wearing now. Cazzy X  ... Hi, On Fri I was directed to see the surgeon, so I read into that surgery first, poss chemo after. It appears that something,? has shown on my Liver but is very unclear, so now have to wait for an MRI to check that out, so no game plan. So jealous of people who are at that stage, I want to know what happens next so that I can move on. At the moment feel stuck in one place, and could be upto another 3 weeks before anything is decided. I have come round to accepting the wait and have found positive outcomes for the CT, neck to pelvis, no other problems showed up.. Just feel that all this standing around is very frustrating, and though nothing has been said ,and they are very supportive I feel that I am letting others down at work, and they are finding all this waiting frustrating too. Oh well not going to wish my life away I will accept the wait and find jobs to do to keep occupied. Could decorate the hallway. X ... View more

Taken the wind out of my sails abit. I do tend to always look on the bright side and see the positive in everyhthing. I am resigned to another wait with the accompanying anxiety as to what will be found. I take comfort in the surgeon saying "not clear enough to diagnose and need a closer look" could be nothing 50/50.  I'm sure if anything is found there will be a plan of action and the whole journey will take a little longer. Hi, Didn't go exactly to plan. I wanted quick surgery in out and start over. But, from the CT they can see something on my Liver but it is not clear enough to diagnose, so they want a MRI. This will be within two weeks but this could mean a three week wait until game plan.  If it has spread to the Liver I believe chemo is first followed by Masectomy. I did say that I would go for the breast removal and lymph nodes no reconstruction, the surgeon said that would be the best course of action. Because I had already considered Masectomy I had no dithering. Also it appears I would have to stay in overnight as they would put a drain in. Here's to a two week wait.  As to the best questions I was more interested in the time scale, which they couldn't give me . The surgeon was good but wouldn't say anything for definate, as he did not have enough info. I found my chat with the BCN more informative, and she gave me a very comprehensive folder on everything about breast cancer and help sites. I also asked my sister in law along I told everyone that I was happy for her to ask questions too, and take part in the discussions. This was an excellent move on my part because I now have and independant source that I can go to and ask questions about what was said..   Keep in touch and best wishes for Monday.If you have a game plan on Monday then you will be at the start of your recovery. I don't have a partner, though my son,22, does live at home. He tends to inhabit his bedroom and comes out for food occaisionally bless. But ,like you, I have a good circle of friends. Still waiting for a game plan and seeing the surgeon on Friday. I am lucky in that I work , that keeps my mind occupied for most of the day. I have a dog whom I take for walks, that fills up some of the evening. Then comes the quiet time, before bed, and I really do want to sleep. I find coming onto this site and reading all the latest posts, sometimes replying , sometimes posting helps, it settles my fears. I find it a comfort to know that there are others out there who have the same emotions, fears and ,often, hope. I read, play scrabble on line, and I have gone back to jigsaw puzzles. Hi, Second time for me too. Last had breast cancer 12 years ago in left breast. Routine mamogram picked up a mass in right breast, in all about 4cm.Still cant feel it but have seen the masses on xray? Two weeks after initial mamogram I was called back for  two biopsies and an ultra sound. 11 days later a CT scan, now waiting for info from my team. There is a multi disciplinery meeting on weds then I will be called to make an appointment to hear the game plan. In all within the 4 weeks time scale, and Easter in there too. Deep breath and breathe. Every ache and pain I get  put down to the cancer spreading, its not, i've always had aches and pains. Its normal to be anxious about a new experience espcially an Op You will suprised at how quick it will all go. Talk to your anethestist ,I found it better for me, to walk to the room before the theatre and have the anasetetic there I felt more in control, Count down from ten next thing I was waking up in recovery. Had the CT scan today. No problems they were able to find a vein and the dye was OK. Really good experience no long queues no long waiting times. Wait until the end of next week to hear the game plan. More waiting, still next week is only the 3rd week since I was given the news and there was Easter in there too. X  ... View more
