Morning all, Sunday/Monday are my ‘bad’ days, felt really rough yesterday also feel I have a cold coming on…..a nice added extra! Hope by time I go for bloods on Wednesday it’s ok, I think when it’s weekly sessions you don’t feel you have time to pick up fully before the next one is here, but the weeks go by so quickly.  The mental wobbles are so difficult to deal with, they can overwhelm you totally out of the blue, it can seem it will never end when you are in that state of mind…..if you need to cry or scream and shout, just do whatever it takes to get through…..then suddenly just as quickly as they come you realise your bad thoughts have cleared……we will all come out of this stronger I’m sure 😊. Hello all, Had my 3rd session today, didn’t go as smoothly as first two, similar to @paula43 had some kind of allergic reaction so treatment was stopped for 20 mins, things settled after hydrocortisone kicked in and I decided to go ahead with session, felt nervous but glad I did it. Feel very tired now so hopefully will sleep tonight. @Magenta59 Think I might try your Schweppes ‘recipe’…..better than taking medication if it does the trick, I’m not suffering badly just the occasional heartburn at night so could be a good bed time drink. Great you have your wigs sorted, I’m persevering with the cold cap and so far so good, but I do know where I’ll be going to sort wig should I need to, have to have every eventuality covered! @Somerset Bunny  Well done, one to cross off…..hope you feel better after a good rest. @Magenta59 Bit quicker today, traffic not too bad so there and back in 2and half hours, I jokingly said it was hardly worth going home as I’m back tomorrow, she said if I had an early appointment they do have a bed available…..I think she was joking!! Last week they only looked at my blood test results when I got there, so if there had been a problem it would have been a wasted journey, I really hope that’s never the case. You may be different as you have a day in between so surely they would have time to contact you if need be 🤞🏻 Hope everyone has a decent sleep tonight xx   ... View more

Just to say good luck today @Somerset Bunny it will be a relief when you ha be the first chemo session behind you, you’ll know what you’re dealing with going forward. Glad to hear things have settled for you @Magenta59 and you’ve managed a decent sleep, makes all the difference! You sound like you are constantly on the go, I’m sure that stands you in good stead as you seem to be focusing your mind on getting some normality into your routine. Very windy here today, but sun shining at the mo, just getting sorted to go for bloods, 3 hour round trip for 15min appointment, but it’s got to be at hospital because of picc line……hopefully it’ll still be dry when we get back and can manage a walk with dog. @amy46  Never feel the need to apologise for having any wobble, it’s a horrible feeling when you don’t know why your own body is causing you so much anxiety. I’m sure we’ve all had that horrendous feeling that a symptom is so much worse than it really is…..I know I definitely have on more than one occasion, and like you my poor husband has taken the brunt of it all…..I don’t know that you can avoid it, it takes over before you know it. You will feel weary and tearful because the lack of sleep just adds to it all, it’s impossible to feel positive and up for 100% of the time, we have to allow ourselves to feel a bit resentful at times for all we are going through, it’s hard work trying to put on that positive face day after day! Red, flushed face and headache today, same as last week…..not too bad. Day 3/4 last week were the ‘bad’ days so I’ll see if that’s going to be the shape of things going forward, but at least I know what to expect, so forewarned is forearmed I suppose. Glad things eased up for you today @Magenta59 enjoy your lovely walk today, always feels like an achievement when you’ve made the effort to get moving. Always looking for tips on what’s worth watching on the various channels, I tend to spend so much time trawling through for something to watch, then give up…..Firefly Lane was a good watch, think on Netflix…..too much choice!! Hello to everybody, Had second chemo session today, be interesting to see if I get the red, flushed ,hot face tomorrow! Glad to hear you managed to get your chemo today @amy46 another one ticked off! Just pottering in the garden is a good way to get your dose of fresh air @Magenta59 battling strong wind as well makes it doubly useful ( hope it wasn’t strong wind from your dodgy tum 🤣 ). Even better to turn into a couch potato for a few hours. @louby_lou69  I think every step brings a mixture of emotions, you’re relieved that you now know what the next stages will be, but also anxious about how you may cope with it all. There’s always someone who’s been there before you who can offer a helpful word or two, that does count for a lot as sometimes we all feel like we are the only one going through all this. I go for my second paclitaxel tomorrow, so feel I am slowly getting into the routine of it all ( not a routine I would have chosen given the choice! ), so far so good, doable. @Magenta59.…Must say sounds like you’ve done well to do what you’ve done today when you’ve obviously not been feeling great, at the same time it does makes you feel like you have done something to contribute to family life in general no matter how small it seems……I’ve had a better day today, I slept well last night and all symptoms have eased as day has progressed so I’m hoping maybe this is the way it will pan out going forward, then at least I will have some idea of what to expect….but, could all be completely different after next session….who knows? Only time will tell. I really hope you manage a decent sleep tonight, it makes a huge difference when you’re not lying awake willing sleep to come……fingers crossed 😴 Onwards and upwards to all and big hugs all round xx ... @amy46 Sorry to hear your day hasn’t been so good, just what we need COVID to be thrown into the mix, horrible for you to have to isolate from your daughter….. you hear so many stories of one person in household testing positive but then no one else gets it, so, fingers crossed you will be ok, but I know what you mean when you say you would like to get it so it’s done and dusted, it’s like one thing less to worry about!! @Magenta59 I’m so grateful for your comforting words, I just get myself into a panic because I continually look to the next appointment and convince myself that I can’t do it, think because it’s on a weekly basis I don’t feel I have time to get myself together….. got to try and pull myself together…..it does help to know you are not the only person going through this s**t, it can seem like a very lonely place even when you have a loving family for support. Thanks Jane, Had really horrible night, everything aching, horrible throat, hips feel painful, shivery…..took some paracetamol and managed to get some sleep, but it continues now……really don’t know whether I can do this, I know it sounds pathetic, but I thought I would be able to cope and now I’m turning into a quivering wreck! Everyone else sounds like they are dealing with these things, I do know everyone has wobbles and it’s not easy, but I feel I’m failing at the first session! Hope today is kinder to all xx   ... Think I spoke too soon….today, has not been so good, very achey top of legs, stomach iffy, horrible taste back of throat, generally ‘off’…..it is day 3 after first paclitaxel session, not looking for any miracle advice, just feeling bit down and needed a bit of a moan about it!! Hi all, I had first paclitaxel on Thursday with cold cap, so there about 3 hours, cold cap was fine, first 10/15 mins bit uncomfortable but other than that ok, I’ll stick with it see how it goes. Had red, hot, flushed face yesterday and headache, temp went up a bit through day, but rang help line and was told could be reaction to steroid, still headache today, but other than that ok.
