Please can anyone help? I have started this new topic on behalf of sharonjane Kind Regards Forum Host Breast Cancer Care My mum has just been diagnosed with Lymphatic & breast cancer and is due to start 6 months of chemotherapy on Friday which will eventually lead to surgery. My dad has prostrate cancer which is currently controlled (he refuses the op). My Grandad (Dad's dad) passed away from liver cancer 7 years ago, and last year my aunt (mum's sister) was diagnosed with breast cancer and is still undergoing treatment. I am due to see my GP today following referral by the practice nurse after I discussed this with her during a routine blood test, and now I am very worried. I am 43, do I have a higher risk?? How many chemo options are there? I have started this new thread on behalf of Bevers Kind Regards Forum Host Breast Cancer Care Diagnosed Jan 2006 with secondaries to liver and bones. Have had FEC - responded well but liver mets grew when chemo stopped. Then on to Taxotere - worked well for 6 cycles then liver mets started to get bigger. Now on Capecitabine - first 2 cycles kept things stable but tests after 3rd cycle show liver function deteriorating again and cancer marker count has doubled. Onc now talking about putting me back on Taxotere + Capecitabine. Really don't want to go back on Taxotere but if I have to, I have to. Does anyone know what alternatives there are and how many more there might be for me to try. I'm starting to worry that if the liver mets can't be halted/stabilised soon that I'm going to rapidly run out of options. Any thoughts or comments gratefully received. Suzee - I'm having wide local excision to remove the lump (7mm) and some surrounding tissue - also checking under arm lymphs. Waiting for the results will be a nightmare - he said I would prob have radio and tablets after the op. Im 60 so he reckons my lump is hormone sensitive. Just hope the lymphs are ok. ... View more

back pain by figlio I have started a new topic for figlio Kind Regards Forum Host Breast Cancer Care Hi all, I am looking for advice re. secondary cancer diagnosis , What would be the symptoms of secondary bone cancer I am a bit worried as I have a lot of back pain , I had a mastectomy in December,and being 60 and with recurrence being assessed as low I did not take tamoxifen I also take long term steroids for vasculitis, and have osteoporosis caused by steroids. and diabetes and asthma I guess we all with cancer fear worse but would be grateful to hear how it is diagnosed I have full bloods checked every month for vasculitis and ESR but dont know if it would have blood markers that would show Please forgive me for asking I am humbled reading of courage and support of you all ,you meet angels unaware Thank you ... mastectomy by tinytrigger I have started this topic on behalf of new user tinytrigger Kind Regards Forum Host Breast Cancer Care Hi, my name is Iris I am 59, I have been diagnoosed with breast cancer and was due to go for a mascetomy on the 16th of this month (may) Last night I changed my mind about not having reconstruction and am now awaiting a phone call from my nurse, I do know if all is well and I can have reconstruction that I will now have to wait until the 6th of June and will find the waiting a bit hard to handle expecially at night time so I will be online for a bit of a chat and a moan no doubt, has anyone else out there changed there mind about this like I have? ... Hi everybody Yingy here I have started this topic on behalf of Yingy Kind Regards Forum Host Breast Cancer Care Hi everybody Yingy here Went to see the specialisy yesterday and had chest xray and bloods - go in for op on 22nd May - my lump is 7mm and Grade 2 so hoping all ok. I feel really nervous waiting for my chest and blood results - anybody else felt like this. I had an operation in February and because of that had lots of blood tests already this year -they were all fine so hoping this one is too. Also I'm sure my blood tests would throw up some markers if there was anything sinister going on wouldn't they ? Hope you're all well. Love Yingy x ... View more
