Hi everyone ! just lost all my post AGAIN !!! ( so maddening ). So this will be short now. Bright Can't believe you been out ! you put me to shame , but it was only my second one I felt sick on and that is the worst bit , also the bald patches that you were talking about , they are not small patches and they get bigger & bigger, we had our rump steak in cracked pepper sauce with stir fry veg & chestnut mushrooms & vintage cheese ( can't move now & am not weighing my sen NO MORE ! lol ). Alsations , I was walking down the street once & this Alsation wouldn't let me move it just kept circling me & snarling I was bobbing mysen ! then this woman shouted at it and I shouted at her " get the f ing thing under control " but I have also known some really nice Alsations . I got attacked by a dog it was like a spaniel type dog and we were having a water fight and this dog for no reason at all jumped up and bit me through my jeans !! I still have a scar on my thigh , I warned the owner but she treat it like a baby and she wouldn't listen so about 6 months later it went for a little boy for no reason she had it put down after that . Jordan has 2 girls coming tomorrow ( nothing new there then ! ). I have finished scanning my photo's just got to name them all now !!. Andie the nurse who did my chemo just said don't drink when your having your steroids but other that that your ok if you feel like it. Jo my last lot of chemo was bad too I know your having FEC and I am having EC but I think thet are more or less the same ? I too am dreading Wednesday and I feel sick just thinking about it but we know it's got to be done !. I might even be going on my own on Tuesday to have my bloods and see the chemo nurse as mam's got cold and Steve at work but hey ho ! Hello Gwyns Poor you - I think from what people say it might be different in smaller hospitals, but in the very large ones (such as mine) breast cancer is factory medicine, unfortunately - I was one of 100s, rarely saw the same doc or nurse twice, and the whole process was very dehumanising. Do persist though with complaints as I think this is the only way to improve things. All too often I think people feel bashful about saying anything, no matter how poor the treatment, but you have every right to good care. In my case, the staff were rushed and not on the ball - e.g. the oncologist tried to put me on a triple negative trial (I'm not triple negative).I had to be to be in charge of my treatment and double check everything they said and persist with asking for consultations - all quite tiring when you're feeling poorly! Hi Dot My own onc never said very much throughout the clinic sessions when i was first getting chemo (taxol). When I finished the chemo a year ago I had sent his secretary a list of questions to go through at the last clinic appointment and he was quite happy to go through everything i had asked. what he did say then was that he nevers volunteers much information because some people don't want to know. The point is that it might not be a case of assuming you know things, your onc might be working on the basis that you don't want to know. Hi Anxious I regularly (not in an alcoholic way) drank through radiotherapy and dont think it made any difference to me. I never even had heard of this! Go on - have yourself that glass of wine - you deserve it 🙂 Love S xx ... View more

Hi Julie I hope you don't mind me replying even though I haven't got secondaries. I think all this health prevention stuff - eg wine, fatty foods etc is really far more relevant to those women who don't have breast cancer as by avoiding/reducing intake etc you MAY help to prevent BC. However, for those of us who already have BC, I think prevention is not relevant. I am not saying to go wild and eat and drink whatever, but it is highly unlikely that whatever we do in terms of healthy behaviour we will make a significant different to our prognosis. However, it may prevent heart disease or something else. Personally, I couldn't give a toss anymore. I eat and drink what I want. I am overweight and know I drink far too much wine and eat stuff that isnt that healthy sometimes but I don't think it is going to make a huge difference to my life expectancy. ... View more

Hi Lucy Your lump is fairly small and as Di says, even though closely examined your breast may look a slightly different shape, it should be hardly noticeable. I had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy and yes my treated breast does look a bit different, but once I am dressed (get a really well fitting bra) it is really difficult to notice the difference. ... Hi Sam When the surgeons remove the tumour, the laboratory people examine it to see how much healthy tissue surrounds the tumour. The more healthy stuff surrounding the tumour, the better because it means that the surgeons have hopefully removed all of the cancerous bit and not left any behind. I had what they called clear margins with 6mms of healthy tissue surrounding the tumour. I think the optimum is 1cm or 10mm - I may be wrong? If the surgeons believe that they haven't got clear margins, they will suggest further surgery. This is common and happens with a lot of ladies who have lumpectomies. ... View more
