Hi Lorraine, I'm the same as you...40 this year, finished treatment last Nov...Have really rotten menopausal symptoms....Haven't had the blood test yet but May was mentioned for them as that'll be a year since my last period. I get really fed up sometimes and find it hard to cope with life in general, some days I am better than others but it is very much an up and down kind of life now..I only had 2 counselling sessions when I finished treatment as I went very wobbly for a time...I'm back at work which is fine when I'm feeling ok, but if I'm not it's a real task..I suppose it's going to take time for us to get over this..One lady wrote recently that we have been Cut,Poisoned and burned so it is only natural that we are suffering long after it has all finished..I think it's ok not too feel happy, and I know most people expect us to move on and get over it...I only hope that someday soon, we turn a corner and things get much easier for us... Hi Debs, I had to have my coil removed straight after diagnosis as my tumour was progesterone positive as well as oestrogen positive... Like you I had it inserted to help control bleeding, I started chemo 4 weeks after having it removed and had one period a day later and I have not had any since..(chemo's doing). If you are to have hormone suppression drugs then that means your tumour must be positive for either or both like mine. I am currently on Tamoxifen and I still have had no periods. It is very common for periods to stop whilst on these drugs...which would really help you, but there is no guarantee... Best wishes Fiona xxxx ... View more

Hi Teresa, Sharon is doing fine, she was down in London this week getting new chemo on the trial..she's back home now and starts taking medication next week...we've all got fingers crossed!!!... There might be another Lady interested in the holiday, She lives near me and I've met her in my wig shop. Hi PT, I had my first follow up mammogram at the beginning of March. I was really nervous as my Bad breast was still very sore, But it was actually ok and didn't hurt any more than the first time I'd had it done. I was told It would be about 7-10 days after that I would receive my results via the post..I waited for nearly 3 weeks and then phoned the Breast surgeon's secretary..she apologised as Docs had been on holiday and she was typing up letters from his dictation, My letter had gone in the post that day, but she read out the letter over the phone, every thing was fine...Try not to worry, easier said than done!! wishing you all the best.. Yes I got this email too, and I found it a bit of a whitewash....I didn't really expect an amazing response either to be honest with you.. They have a general election coming up and are only really concentrating on getting votes...I would love to think that signing petitions would make a difference but do they really?...No they don't! Cancer patients are getting a raw deal right now, from trying to claim ESA and DLA and now heating...everybody thinks we automatically qualify for help with lots of things and it's only friends and relatives that see the true picture....people I speak to can't believe how hard it is for us, especially when so many hand outs go to the "not so needy"... Hi Everyone, Been a while since I was on....Had a really busy week at work last week so I've been a few days getting back on my feet.. Lynn, sorry to hear chemo is giving you a bit of trouble, hope you start to feel better soon.. Welcome Anne, where about's are you from? I come from Ayr but live in Glasgow now. Good luck with starting chemo, at least things are moving along now...I had my lumpectomy on 26th Feb and first chemo on 10th April last year, so the time scale is about the same. I can't believe that's a year ago, it really doesn't feel like it! Carol, Sorry to hear about your hubby's friend, it brings us down to earth with a bump...we really do have to make the best of every day. Yvonne, good luck with going back to work...I got the all clear with mammogram and chest Xray, just waiting to go for my endoscope now. Hi Libby, Sorry to hear about the job. It was good your hair managed to hold out till the interview. How is it doing now? I'm glad treatment is going ok for you and your White cells are keeping up. Only just realised it's a Sunday as I'm sitting here with the calendar out. Sorry I won't be able to come now as I'll have the Kids.. I'm so disappointed!! The YWF was brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed it..It was so good to spend some time around old friends and new...Laughter is therapy and tears are healing!...and there are no better friends than the ones sitting in the same boat as yourself!..anybody thinking of going should go, you get a lot more out of it than you expect.. Hi There, I had Tax but no cell boosters.. I got sore bones, aches and pains everywhere, feels a bit like you're coming down with flu..It wears of after a few days..if she mentions this to her team before next chemo they'll advise her about a pain killer she can take till it eases..
