Yes I think you should get it checked as it could change and a lot can happen in two years. I don´t want to worry you unnecessarily as it may well be nothing but there are cancers that lurk or develop slowly and are not necessarily picked up by ultra sound. After my experience I would get anything checked especially with such a time gap of more than a year

Sophie - can you ask your GP to refer you to a different specialist? I would definitely want a second opinion in your shoes, the alternative is there are places you can go to get a thermograph done and that can show up early changes before a mammogram does, that may reassure you or give you extra ammunition, only thing is you have to go private for it, but its not hugely expensive.....

As you have a rare type of cancer then I think I would ask for a second opinion in your shoes, and make sure you write a list of all the questions you have from your own research adn keep asking until you are satisfied with a thorough answer, even if its one you don´t like!!
I have a rare disease apart from BC so know how important it is to really be your own advocate and expert, as no matter what type of cancer this is, it is YOU it is affecting.....

Rattles, just to say sending you love and hugs, I spent days thinking what if (I´d had chemo first or some oher thing), would I still have 2 breasts, but no outcome would have been the same and now I know beyond any doubt I had to do waht i did, and I would have done the same as you in your shoes.
Once you have healed I cannot see why you should not have a re-con if you want one, where is your second cancer?
I wish I had magic words, but i don´t, I can honestly say you have companions on this rocky road....and I feel for you...x

Re-posting on here as had no replies yesterday....hope someone can help
I had what I thought was an MRM in May but the more time passes the more I wonder how modified it was.
My scar is nowhere near as neat as others I have seen but more importantly as time passes I have no flesh left on my chest area at all, you can see and feel the ribs right up to my collar bone and in places it is sunken in. I thought this only happened if they took some of the chest muscle as well? It is making it harder and harder to wear any clothes that are not up to my neck and as temps are 40C at present.......
The only "flesh" anywhere is the increasing amount of oedema under my arm (but on my side not the arm) and a little below the scar......
Anyone else like this or any experiences to share, please?

There is a very good book on Candida but its important to remember you also need to remove moulds or mould producing food from your diet - mushrooms and cheese in particular, marmite and bread too! I did an anti candida diet for a year and it really did work (pre cancer and a few years ago). Using coconut oil and possibly taking caprylic acid suplements can help but i agree you are better off getting some specialist advice from a well experienced therapist in this field
Chemotherapy can promote candida and lead to overgrowth, so taking a really good mixed probiotic supplement may help, in mega doses for a couple of months

Sorry Lizdeb - I did not mean to seem unsympathetic, or to minimise your upset, i am glad you found some good support on here.....I don´t think any surgeon would do a mastectomy unless it was essential as they know how traumatic it is but I feel very told off now! I am having a bad day.......

I don´t know to be honest, but its a long way off and it would mean a reduction of the one I have left, part of me toys with the idea of losing that one too just to be even as I feel sooo unbalanced and odd.
I think you are right to be careful that no one bumps in to you, not easy though...
Sorry I did not mean to come across as critical of you, of course its a huge adjustment as a re-con is NOT the same as your old breast but I would so much prefer to be in your place than mine.....

I too had no lump and found by accident not via mammo, which was clear even after visible changes to breast.......just 6 weeks pre MX......
I too have had VERY stressful few years and it was worst in last year so sure that contributed higely to my imbalance alloweing cancer to get in the gap in my defences but it has no chance now, I am back on the case........and deliberately trying to avoid stress....

I would love to be in your shoes having had a reconstruction as I really hate how I look now, I can cope with it going out in clothes now unless people hug me, but washing prostheses and the special bras and all that palaver just depress me every time - I don´t think I will ever get used to see foam mounds drying on the edge of the bath and knowing that I need those to look pasable in public.......and they are supposed to be a breast - yuk! But at least I can go out of the house now without being riddled with panic.

THank you for posting this - I am worried they will stop doing re-constructions due to cuts as i am only at the beginning of the journey and really not happy with my MX area and using prosthetics, I cannot use the silicone one as it makes me feel ill to touch. I never liked silicone so I just use foam but its not weighted so not good long term.
Were your surgeons plastic surgeons or breast surgeons?

Hold on, you do not know you are going to leave him, and I have seen posts from people living with secondaries for years and years....today I was at the hospital, depressing place but there were people there living with cancer for 20 years......and they were walking talking and apparently living normally....

Wow lucky you, great news - what kind of cancer did you have? It is true that grade 3 tumours do respond a lot faster to chemo as it is most vulnerable in the growth stage.........but the ones that seem to appear overnight is a bit doubtful to me as mine was lobular so it lurks and then seemed to appear overnight but clearly had not, its just the way it grows like tendrils.....its so difficult to know isn´t it?
Where did you have dose dense chemo then? In the UK?

I have sent you a private message wintersocks re chemo sensitivity testing.......
I have decided against having chemo here in spain having had a second opinion in the UK re the regime and dosage but I may take up modified chemo in the UK - for now I have started hormone therapy and will be having radiotherapy st some stage also. I am also investigating sono photodynamic therapy.
Your experiences are very interesting but of course chemo is often used for the stray cells that are not visible.......so it does not eman there has been no benefit to you but of course its disappointing it was not more dramatic
