Hi there I had EC and am now on Tax. I am not triple negative. I asked my onc what the difference was between FEC and EC and he said it was just different oncs' preferences. Apparently recent research has shown that adding the F to EC has little extra benefit.

Weird isn't it? I get 1 neulasta injection the day after every chemo and was told it had to be in the tummy!!. I get terrible pain in my torso particularly my ribs.

Hi
I have had 2 TAx so far and I would say the SEs are very different. I wasn't given Emend either and have had no nausea on the Tax. My main SE is bone/jointg pain, oral thrush, diarrhea and stomach cramps. I have also stopped having periods since starting Tax. My onc has gi ven me Nystatin for the mouth problems, Lansoprazole for the stomach and co-codamol for pain. I would also say I am more tired. One other thing is that the SEs don't kick for me until day 3 which is different to FEC which was almost immediate.

Snap rozita. I have just had my 5th chemo and my periods stopped a couple of months ago.. I have had what I assume are hot flushes quite frequently for about 2 weeks now. I was going to ask my onc next time I see him as I'm not sure if it is menopausal or just the chemo!! Would love to hear of other ladies' experiences.

Thanks for the advice. I was warned about the se and I took co-codamol for the pain, used corsodyl for the mouth etc but the thrush had got so bad I just couldn't tolerate anything, hence the dehydration. I guess I was so poorly I didn't realise just how poorly I was ( my husband works away all week so I was on my own).
What I was trying to say was that I am not the type of person to be ringing the hospital every five minutes but was really glad that I did because they were able to make me feel better so quickly. Incidently my onc, when he saw me in at the hospital said he would reduce my dosage next time as it was obviously too harsh for me.

Had first Tax last Friday (14th). Saturday and Sunday felt fine.....great I thought this is much better than the EC! Monday started to ache, Tuesday very achey, stomach cramps and diarrhea. Wednesday very very achey, sore mouth and throat,severe headache and couldn't get out of bed. Thursday the same so I phoned the hospital who asked me to come in. As soon as they saw me they admitted me and I got home yesterday afternoon. I'm so glad I phoned the hospital because within a couple of hours of them putting me on a drip (just fluids) I felt so much better!!! I was apparently very dehydrated.
I don't want to frighten anyone but I suppose the moral of the story is I won't hesitate to phone the hospital if there is a next time because they really can help.

After 4 1/2 hours at the hospital yesterday seeing my onc once and breast surgeon 3x plus repeat of ultrasound on new lumps it was decided that although the lumps hadn't reduced in size but also had not grown I would just continue with the chemo albeit a change of drug.
Don't know why but I was really upset I was really hoping they would remove the lumps as I just want the little nasties OUT!!! But I guess they know best.
Had first Tax today and am due for a repeat of a lung CT in 10 days to see what's going on with the nodes there.
Not a happy bunny!

Do you have neulasta injections after each cycle of chemo? I do and the main side effect is very painful areas in my ribs. My onc says its to do with the the bone marrow being boosted.

Thought I'd give an update.
Had appointment to get results of latest biopsy and had 3rd chemo yesterday. The biopsy came back positive for cancer so I was sent for an ultrasound scan. The palpable lump and 2 others have been found in the same area. My breast surgeon believes it is breast tissue that was in transit during my previous ops, ie not in the first 3cm lump taken out and not in any of the lymph nodes removed during clearance. I will be scanned before my next chemo in 3 weeks and if the lumps have grown the chemo will be paused and they will be removed. If they are the same the chemo will continue and the lumps removed at the end of treatment. Either way the lumps must be removed to determine exactly what they are.
I am in shock. How can this happen so soon after surgery?(only at end of Jan and 2nd at beginning of Feb)
My consultant told me not to lose sleep over it ....ha ha ha!!

In Jan I was dx with BC. I had a WLE and full node clearance. Before starting chemo a CT scan showed I also had lung mets. 3 weeks ago during a follow up appt with my breast surgeon he found a lump under the same armpit. He said he was 99% sure it was just scar tissue but to be sure he did a biopsy. Today I got a call from his secretary to say he wanted to see me on Thursday, the day of my next chemo.
As you can imagine I am scared stiff. What could this be now? Has anyone else had a similair experience?

I am on EC x 4 then Tax x 4. I was told that it was too risky to biopsy the lung. I will certainly speak to my onc next week and push him for more details.

Thanks for replying Finty. I think I may take your stance. I have my next chemo next Thursday and I will ask the onc if the drugs are effective for lung cancer. I was so ignorant before all this started that I didn't even know there were different chemo drugs!!!

Hi everyone I hope there is someone out there that can enlighten and put my mind at ease. I was dx with BC in Jan this year. I have had a WLE and full node clearance.
Before I started chemo I had a full body CT and a bone scan. On the day of my first chemo I was told by my onc that a 1cm tumour had been found on my right lung (same side as my BC) and that it was 'very strongly suspicious of being lung mets' As you can imagine I was shocked but the onc really down played it and said I had too much to worry about with the chemo and everything and it wouldn't alter the treatment plan, they would just re scan me after my 8 chemo sessions to see what was happening. I tried to get some more info from him but he kept telling me not to worry and just concentrate on being positive through the chemo.
I have now had 2x chemos and the worry is getting worse.
Has anyone had experience of being dx with a secondary so soon after primary dx and if so how it was handled.

I am on day 6 of 2nd chemo and I know what you mean. I feel so woozy and tired constantly. I could sleep for England!! When you are normally so active it is hard to give in to this.
